Milwaukee couple charged: 6 children found in locked storage unit

MILWAUKEE —
Six children ranging in age from 2 months to 9 years old were found locked inside a storage unit in Milwaukee.
Prosecutors charged Charles Albert Dupriest, 33, with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and six counts of child neglect. Azyia C. Zielinski, 26, faces six counts of child neglect.

Around 1:30 a.m., an emergency call reported a child crying inside a locked unit at StorSafe, 5555 N. 27th St., the complaint states. Upon arrival, officers said they heard crying and coughing from within one of the units.
Milwaukee firefighters cut a padlock to gain entry and found six children aged 9, 7, 5, 3, 2, and a two-month-old.
According to the complaint, inside the unit was a bucket "containing urine" placed in the center of the storage unit. Detectives noted there was no electricity or running water and "the only light visible to the children came through the crack of the garage door."
"The only light these poor children had to have was the crack of light that came to the bottom of the garage. We have your children stating that they had no food, that the only food they found was from the garbage," Milwaukee County Court Commissioner Andrea Bolender said during Zielinski's Friday court appearance.
Zielinksi was visibly emotional during the hearing.
"This is horrific. Ma'am, I see you are broken up. I hope you realize how lucky you actually are that none of these children have died," Bolender said.
The storage unit contained a bucket for waste, no electricity, and only minimal light through cracks in the garage door

Detectives described the odor as "putrid," said the complaint. Inside the unit, a detective observed a sectional couch and a twin mattress without sheets. The 5-year-old told a detective, “We’re not supposed to be loud,” before urinating in the orange bucket, the filing says.
According to the complaint, the 9-year-old told police he was responsible for caring for the children and said they used the bucket "to urinate and defecate." He told investigators he was hungry and had no way to contact anyone in an emergency.
A sectional couch and a mattress without sheets were also found inside the storage unit.

An employee from the storage unit told police in May he overheard an adult male say, "Sit down and be quiet," inside the unit and provided surveillance video showing the defendants dropping off children.
Officers later found Dupriest and Zielinski sleeping in a Ford Expedition in the parking lot. Both admitted they slept in the SUV with their dog while the children slept in the storage unit, court documents say.
One of the children told police "she was upset the dog got to sleep in the car while she and her siblings slept in the unit."
"The middle row was completely empty and the dog had the back row all to himself. As these children slept in a locked storage container with one twin mattress on the floor," Bolender said.
According to court records, police recovered a loaded firearm from the SUV's center console. Zielinski said the gun belonged to her, but stated Dupriest touched it when retrieving items.
In recorded interviews summarized in the complaint, Zielinski said the family had been sleeping in the storage unit for about six weeks after leaving a shelter and acknowledged placing a bucket in the unit for the children to use.

Dupriest said the children slept in the unit about three times per week and acknowledged that family or friends could have housed the children.
Forensic interviews of the children documented additional details. One child said she felt "sad" when locked in the unit and "mad," so she made it dirty. Another said there were "no lights, only cracks through which light entered" and that he "would not know how to get out in an emergency."
The 9-year-old said parents sometimes drank alcohol and, when "drunk," the 9-year-old took care of the siblings; the 9-year-old also said a parent had “a bunch of guns.”
Investigators said Zielinski and Dupriest told them they were receiving food stamps and $2,000 a month in social security benefits. They said they were "kicked out" of Joy House, a Milwaukee Rescue Mission shelter for women and children in July.
In a statement to WISN 12 News, Patrick Vanderburgh, President and CEO of the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, said, "We were heartbroken to learn of the recent news involving children found sheltering in a storage locker. We want to confirm that the Milwaukee Rescue Mission and Joy House — our family shelter — have provided assistance to this family in the past. The family stayed with us for two months in 2023, and again for more than a month during June and July of 2025. While we must respect and maintain the confidentiality of our guests and their families, we can share that during their most recent stay, we were able to verify that the family had secured permanent housing before leaving Joy House. We remain committed to supporting families in crisis and providing the resources they need to move toward stability and hope."
The complaint notes Dupriest’s prior felony conviction for third-degree sexual assault in Ozaukee County

Joy House confirmed it coordinated with Azyia Zielinski, the kids' mother, to secure permanent housing back in July

We're learning more details about their living conditions after the mother, Azyia Zielinski, and Charles Dupriest were arrested and charged with several counts of neglecting a child.

According to a criminal complaint, the children were discovered Tuesday morning around 1:30 a.m. at StorSafe on N. 27th Street and Silver Spring after someone heard a baby crying inside a locked storage unit and called 911.

Detectives said when they arrived, they had to cut open a padlock to access the unit, where they found a deteriorated couch, a mattress with no sheets, a bucket filled with urine, and the six children.

The children told detectives they had been sleeping in the storage unit for months with minimal food, no water, no electricity, and no lights. The children also said they were forced to use a bucket as their bathroom.

Dupriest and Zielinski were later found sleeping nearby in their car.

Family had previously received shelter assistance

When police spoke with Zielinski, she told them the family was homeless and that she had struggled to secure housing for years. She said she was kicked out of Joy House, in July, a women and children's shelter in downtown Milwaukee.

However, Pat Vanderburgh, president and CEO of Milwaukee Rescue Mission, which operates Joy House, said the family was never kicked out.

"They stayed with us for two months in 2023 and then again in June and July for a little over a month this year," Vanderburgh said.

He said before Zielinski and her children left in July, Joy House and another organization had secured permanent housing for the family.

"Is this how you're finding out that this family was never, never made it to the permanent home you guys have made," Reporter Jenna Rae asked.

"This is how we're finding out. Our assumption in July was that we knew from mom and other sources we knew, they had lined up permanent housing," Vanderburgh responded. "Now we're hearing this, and again, mystery to us, how it went sideways."

Vanderburgh said multiple organizations had been helping the family with resources for food and housing.

The criminal complaint states Zielinski received WIC and food stamps, as well as $2,000/month in Social Security benefits.

"Some of the situations are just; there are so many dynamics that enter into people that are experiencing crisis," Vanderburgh said.

The children are now under the care of Child Protective Services

Faith Okosun

The Nigeria Police homicide unit in Abuja is currently set against the uphill task of uncovering the perpetrator of the gruesome murder of 43-year-old manicurist Faith Okosun on September 13, 2025.

Speaking during an exclusive chat in Abuja, Oyinye, a friend of the deceased, told WESTERN POST that Faith had on Thursday, September 11, notified family and friends that her boyfriend (name withheld) would be visiting from Plateau State.

“She said after that Thursday (September 11) she would not be coming to her shop on Friday and Saturday and that she wants to stay with her boyfriend,” Oyinye informed WESTERN POST.

The boyfriend, who hails from Benue State, travelled to Abuja. Neighbours confirmed seeing the two together.

However, on the evening of Saturday, September 13, things took a different turn. Calls made to Faith’s mobile phone rang ceaselessly without any response. Anxious, one of her siblings rushed to the one-room apartment Faith occupies in Galadimawa, Abuja. But the room was locked with no traces of Faith and her visitor.

With an extra key the room was opened; they met Faith on her bed gasping for breath. Thick blood oozed from her nostrils. But her boyfriend was missing.

She was rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed dead. Police came in to evacuate her remains and commence an investigation into her death.

Oyinye told WESTERN POST that what happened to Faith remains unclear.

However, the broken, blood-stained pestle found in her room and the injury on the frontal part of her head suggest she might have been hit on the forehead. Her mobile phone was also missing from the crime scene.

Faith’s family members said following the incident, pictures of the deceased with her boyfriend have been removed from his social media account. The boyfriend’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Faith Okosun graduated from the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, where she met her boyfriend in 2017. They have had an on-and-off relationship, WESTERN POSTlearnt..

Until her demise, Faith worked as a manicurist in her studio at Prince and Princess, opposite Kaura Model Market, Abuja, where friends are now raising funds to complement the police investigation into the mystery surrounding her gruesome murder

KARACHI:
The bodies of three transgender persons bearing gunshot wounds were found on Sunday in bushes near Nagori Cooperative Housing Society, off the M-9 Motorway, within the jurisdiction of Memon Goth police station, officials said.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, police, Rangers personnel and rescue services arrived at the scene. The area was cordoned off and a crime scene unit was called in to collect evidence.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir, Abdul Khaliq Pirzada, who also visited the site, told reporters that all three victims had been shot once — two of them in the chest and one in the head. He said no documents or mobile phones were recovered from the deceased that could help identify them.

Police recovered two 9mm pistol shells, a torch, a tissue roll and other items from the crime scene, the SSP revealed. Fingerprints of the victims have been taken for identification purposes, and local residents are being questioned to help ascertain their identities.

SSP Pirzada added that there were no CCTV cameras directly covering the spot, but nearby cameras were being checked for clues.
Initial observations suggest the victims were shot at the same location where their bodies were found because police recovered two shells from the spot. The incident also appears to have taken place only a few hours before discovery, but the MLO report will provide the final findings.

Police said two bodies were found together while the third lay a few feet away, possibly indicating that the person tried to escape before being shot.

The SSP said there were indications that the transgender persons regularly visited the area, as some used items at the site suggested. The recovered bullet casings will be cross-matched to determine whether a single weapon or multiple weapons were used.

The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examinations, while police launched a probe into the killings.

A shocking development in a cold case from 2021: Cherokee County deputies say a man has confessed to the murder of Kevin Brookshire, who went missing over three years ago in Spartanburg County. Brookshire’s remains were recently discovered in the backyard of a Gaffney home on Robbs School Road. During the investigation, John Rice was identified as a person of interest and later confessed to the crime. Rice has been denied bond. No motive has been released, and the investigation is still active.

Victoria Hilliard
An RCMP supplied photo of Victoria Sheila Elizabeth Hilliard, 29, who is charged in the Dec. 12, 2023, homicide of 42-year-old Mark O'Keefe in Fort McMurray

RCMP have filed murder charges and are on the hunt for a female suspect linked to 2023 homicide in Fort McMurray.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Victoria Sheila Elizabeth Hilliard, 29, who RCMP believe is in the greater Toronto area, the police service said in a Sunday news release.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has laid second-degree murder charges against Hilliard in connection to the homicide of Mark O’Keefe, whose death was reported as suspicious on Dec. 12, 2023. At the time, police said the death occurred on Parsons Access Road near the Highway 63 turn off in Fort McMurray, and that a subsequent call about a vehicle fire on Tower Road was likely related.

RCMP are asking for public assistance in locating Hilliard, but say not to approach her and instead call 911.
Hilliard is described as five-foot-seven, with a fair complexion, blue eyes and blonde hair that is often changed. She is approximately 139 pounds and has several tattoos including a mermaid on her left wrist, butterflies on her left forearm and a triple moon on her upper left forearm.
Fort McMurray is 430 km northeast of Edmonton

Morrissey has cancelled two gigs after a “credible threat” on his life.
Last Friday (September 12), the former The Smiths frontman headlined CityFolk music festival in Ottawa, Canada. Since his performance, reports have emerged of an alleged death threat against him.
Court documents allege that a threat was posted to Bluesky on September 4, from an account named “guy who gets shot in the head one hundred thousand times a day,” per Ottawa Citizen.
It reads: “Steven Patrick Morrissey when you perform at TD Place here in Ottawa next week on the evening of September 12th, 2025 at about 9pm, I will be present at the venue in the audience and I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally.”
A 26-year-old man named Noah Castellano was arrested for the incident and later released on $5,000 CAD (£2,691) bail. He has declined to elaborate on the charge, telling Ottawa Citizen: “I’m not interested.”
Now, the musician has cancelled two upcoming shows. The first was scheduled for tonight (September 19) at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT.
Another show slated for tomorrow night (September 20) at Boston’s MGM Music Hall has also been cancelled, with the venue saying: “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, tomorrow’s engagement at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway has been cancelled.”
In other Morrissey news, the musician recently took to his website to share that he had “no choice but to offer for sale all of his business interests” in The Smiths to any potential investors or parties.
He explained in a statement: “I am burnt out by any and all connections to [Johnny] Marr, [Andy] Rourke, [Mike] Joyce. I have had enough of malicious associations. With my entire life I have paid my rightful dues to these songs and these images. I would now like to live disassociated from those who wish me nothing but ill-will and destruction, and this is the only resolution.”
A subsequent update shared that the email address has been “switched off” due to a “colossal response”.
Elsewhere, he recently revealed that he had declined an invitation to perform at Reform UK’s party conference.
The brief statement on Morrissey’s website concluded by saying he was “apolitical” and had never “joined a political party – or voted – in his entire life”, though he was “thankful for the invitation”.

OOF! What a mug shot!

I think this is why the POS looks like that.

"While being arrested, Johnson allegedly hit the K-9 unit multiple times and attempted to steal an officer's firearm."

Also -

Family members allegedly told police that Johnson had a history of abuse against the victim, many incidents of which were reported to police, per Law&Crime. The outlet reviewed court documents that detailed two major incidents in January and March of 2025 that resulted in Rosemary filing a petition for an injunction for protection "against domestic violence."
"On March 12 he grabbed my arms and held my arms down and bruised my arms and wrist and spit in my face over trying to take my phone (since he doesn't have one)," Rosemary wrote in her petition.
Furthermore, the documents said that Johnson suffered from an unspecified mental illness that Rosemary identified as schizophrenia, making him unable to work.
"He doesn't have an income. He is unable to work because of his mental health," she wrote. "Devin lives with me but now I am staying at my daughters because I don't feel safe around him."
Rosemary wrote that she pressed charges against him after he hit her with a "closed fist on the head," resulting in him spending a month in jail. In that same incident, Johnson allegedly left his mother immobile and stranded in a recliner after cutting power to the house.
