The Murder of Rob and Michele Reiner in Brentwood, California

Nope. Never mentioned that I recall. Never given meds. it was all about drug addiction. If true to life, then they never touched on it if Nick allegedly has it now...
They are saying Nick is schizophrenic right? I havent copied all this article but the beginning is saying he was on medication for schizoprenia and that his meds were being changed making him dangerous.

Rob Reiner’s body was discovered at around 3:40 p.m. Sunday afternoon by his daughter Romy, 28 — who did not even know that her mother was dead until paramedics also found her slain inside.
Nick Reiner was nowhere to be found, but his sister told investigators he should be considered dangerous, sources said.

Meanwhile, the drug addict was seen walking the streets, getting something to drink from a store and had checked in for a brief stay at a Santa Monica hotel, where investigators later found a sink covered in blood.
Nick Reiner was finally collared at a gas station the LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Unit around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, about 15 miles from his parents’ home, dramatic video of his arrest shows.

He made his first in-person court appearance on Wednesday, showing up in a suicide vest and sporting a blank stare, only opening his mouth to utter “yes, your honor” when he waved his right to a speedy arraignment.
He is due back in court on Jan. 7 for an arraignment.

Yes that is what is being said now. kimster posted above about it, said I think that it is all over twitter. and Daily News I think was the source in that one. Similar article.

I don't know if I ever said either that he checked into the hotel under his own name and used his own credit card I heard ONE TIME somewhere. So they probably easily tracked him IF they cold get a warrant quickly or it was by his phone or surveillance video, etc... But they had him quickly so must have pulled some info quickly OR when maybe a hotel clerk heard about it, recognized him from check in?

I had heard he was schizophrenic before but it wasn't confirmed by any source. Now it seems to be.

You know aside from anything, I am starting to think he could have been mainly just a spoiled, entitled, disrespectful brat. Seriously. He was into drugs in his early teen years per her article.

Changes in meds though, if true, could definitely be a factor with him. If though he was acting out so badly and dangerously, why wasn't he being MONITORED or taken OFF and changed BACK. I'll buy it when I hear a lot more. I mean honestly Jackson could have leaked this quite honestly, starting his defense already. AND public perception. It will probably drum up some sympathy with some instead of outrage.

I have been trying to find some info on a Staten Island similar murder where a son killed his parents and was recently retried in 2023 but not a lot of detail online. The son's name was Eric Bellucci and the original trial was 2010 I believe.

Sort of similar case. Here's one link i have found and this was the retrial in 2023.

I was only able to read the first 3 paragraphs and then you have to pay and subscribe.

Everything I find most recent like that one from 2023 is older OR it is from that same newspaper SILive which charges.

Here's one but it is many years older.

Yes I found that. He appealed it and won in 2020 then stood trial again in 2023 and was convicted again. It is the latest one i am interested in. It does seem very similar to this case.

Yeah I gathered that. There were other SILive articles but I didn't really pay attn to if they were from 2023 because I knew we couldn't read them. It's like every other news source from the first trial dropped the ball and cared less about the second one. It sounds yes as if it would be similar.

Didn't the Menendez brothers use their inheritance for their council?
I can't recall but it seems like it. I wouldn't doubt that case maybe brought into existence the slayer law. I have no reason to think that but I think you are right and people were outraged? I just can't recall. I do recall some of the family actually stood by them, like maybe an aunt and uncle or some such.

Even aside from this channel guy, he has some clips in here that are interesting. For instance, the one (who I am guessing is a TMZ guy as they were the source I think of the schizophrenia news) says the $70k a month rehab facility was a facility more for mental problems but then he goes on to say on top of the problems with med changes and the meds not working and making him crazy, he was abusing substances and that makes the schizophrenia worse. We need an abbreviation for that word as I'm tired of typing it. One could say schizo but not sure that's PC? SO he was abusing again. And this rehab place was not JUST for mental health crises imo and it sounds to me as if whoever leaked this/was the source (heard there were two) tried to make it sound good as it was the meds but there is more to that story... There's a few other takeaways from different things too. It's not long and worth a watch imo if like me you hadn't seen or heard some of the things in here.

Okay. Scott is saying a family insider has shared that the Estate of Rob and Michelle is going to be paying the legal fees for Nick's defense. And that the family prefers if he has to go away that he end up in a mental hospital. My God does that anger me. Hollywood people as usual using their money and in this case, the dead parents' money and in their blood to buy a defense and a cushy ride in a mental hospital rather than in a state prison. SICKENING. The family sound as enabling as the parents were.

Oh and I heard Vinnie yesterday say exactly what I said in here above, well he said one thing and his friend another, both of which I said. That was it possible Jackson leaked the schizophrenia news and that there you go, he is likely going to sue the rehab place or whoever could not get Nick's meds under control. Do you think they read here lol?

It ANGERS me that they could even use this money for that self entitled brat. The games started immediately to gain sympathy for Nick before the parents' bodies were even cold. Disgusting.

No one has to agree but my mind isn't changing.

Forgot to put Scott's up. I'm continuing it now and much of interest imo. He talks about the slayer statute and how that can be gotten around if trusts or if other family members agree to use the money for the perp, etc.

Estate estimated at $200 to $500 million and house another 13 million.

Close source says Rob intended to leave or did leave a lot of his money to charitable causes and said he wanted to emphasize self reliance for his children by doing that. I take that to mean not leaving them so much money. Well huh. Self reliance huh? Running right to mommy and daddy's estate/money to help Nick, apparently none have any of their own to do so. That's real self reliance isn't it...

Oh AND they had a beach house. That matches the movie. There was a home and a beach house in the movie.

My cynicism ahead--they will BUY him an insanity diagnosis and that will be the end of the case. Not before Jackson ensures he makes a boatload of money first though.

Scott says Nick had been in rehab at least 17 times. I'd heard 18 but that maybe included this last stint or something. Starting at 15 and using started earlier. HOW old is he again?? Isn't that basically at least once a year?? So where is this six year clean period Rob talked about? I'd need his age to do the math on that.

Anyhow here is Scott with a lot of this info. Remember his entire show is usually about a lot of cases, and Reiner is up first, so it probably doesn't last through the entire show, usually just minutes for each case but not sure yet as I am still watching. When I know I'll try to come back and say how long the Reiner part was.
