A Long Island architect has pleaded guilty to murdering seven women and admitted he killed an eighth in a string of long-unsolved crimes known as the Gilgo Beach killings.

Glad he confessed and it's moving along toward closure.

This has also been a lesson to me because there was SO much speculation about a few men and how some people on the internet were "sure" it was so-and-so and here it was someone never even mentioned before.

I had to share.... either she is sick in the head and likes this or is sick in the head and honestly was that naive that she didn't know and is self punishing herself by having her sleeping space down there.I don't know i'm no expert , but that woman better be in some mental health care

I strongly belive he started decades ago with street sex workers. He just got more comfortable in what he was doing to kill at home.

What does a guilty plea get him?

I'm sure there're all sorts of reasons, one (I think probably of least importance to him) is he was toast and he knew it and so going through a trial would only be delaying the inevitable.
But it also spared him and his family (mainly him, I think) a public demonstration as to the depth of his depravity.
I think he may also have been ready to move from a jail cell to a prison cell, although I really don't know how either would be better than the other, lol, I think it's a possibility.
Regardless of the reason or reasons, I'm sure it was to his benefit above all others.

It seems to me that the objective of the FBI will be primarily to gather info prior to his first known murder.
