A man, believed to be Angelo Paolini, was found dead in the isolated Roccaccia farmhouse, in the countryside of Tarquinia (Viterbo). While trying to warn a hypothetical daughter of his death, Angelo Paolini, who was born on 18 December 1928 in Campotosto in Abruzzo, was never born in that country. "He said he came from the province of L'Aquila, but we don't know the exact country," said an acquaintance. For more than ten years he had lived alone, isolated from everything and everyone, and died of cardiac arrest at the age of 74. Although he lived in Tarquinia (Viterbo) from more than forty years, it did not appear that he had a residence in that municipality. The only document in his possession was a fishing license issued in 1971, on which there was information that has not been matched. The man had done many jobs and learned many trades, but he had never wanted contributions to be paid to him or enrolled in the employment office. A friend recalled: "If they mentioned to put it in order he would no longer speak, he would cut the conversation and go away". So he always worked illegally, for everyone, except for a brief experience in Pomezia, in the seventies. Rather than asking for a license, he even preferred to get rid of his Ape Piaggio, with which he used to go to work. Almost everyone knew that he had been married before settling in Tarquinia and that his wife had died in childbirth. The daughter, whom everyone knew only through a photograph, was later entrusted to an aunt. Maybe she was called Rosa, Rosina or Rosetta. "Sometimes he would call me if I could take him back to the countryside. He said he was going to Rome to visit his daughter when she came from London. He said he had made her study languages and that she had become an interpreter for the English embassy", said a friend . But he could have made it all up, as he had done on other occasions.
It seems he was an intelligent and cultured man, a lover of art. In Tarquinia there are many who say that he had even played a small part in a film by Monicelli, "La grande guerra". "We are looking for this daughter to let her know that her father is dead. I also arrived at the Italian embassy in London, but they replied that I am not a relative and that they cannot give me an answer. Now this man has been deposited in a small oven waiting to know his name, where he was born, etcetera, to make him an act of death. Because now he is only Paolini Angelo, born nowhere "explained a friend of the man who was called Angelo Paolini.

Among the few authentic documents that remain by Angelo Paolini is the photo that portrays him with his daughter. He had told everyone that he had been married but that his wife had later died in childbirth giving birth to a girl named Rosa (called Rosina or perhaps Rosetta). Angelo Paolini said that his daughter had studied languages and then had become an interpreter in a London embassy. But this little girl he talked about would never be seen by anyone. We only know that he often went to visit her in Rome. An aunt who worked as a concierge in the area of Piazza Navona would have taken care of his daughter. Even the fishing license issued in 1971 testifies to something about him: a date, December 18, 1928, and a place of birth, Campotosto in the province of L'Aquila . But Angelo Paolini is never born there. So who was Angelo Paolini? He had told some he was born in Antrodoco (Rieti), with others he had talked about Sassa or Sella di Corno, villages in the province of L'Aquila as well as Campotosto, where almost everyone believed he was born. "Who has seen?" carried out a verification directly at the Campotosto registry office. It was thus discovered that the surname Paolini is frequent in the fraction locality Mascioni the surname Paolini is frequent. But there would be no trace of Angelo.
