Several law enforcement agencies in Jackson County are searching for a missing 25-year-old woman.

Search continues for missing Jackson County woman last seen jogging near County Road 41 Wednesday afternoon

Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas says the search continues Thursday for Sydney Sutherland, 25.

According to Sheriff Lucas, teams searched until 2 a.m. Thursday, then resumed the search around 7:30 a.m.

Lucas says US Marshals, FBI, Tuckerman police, Newport police, Jonesboro police, Arkansas State Police and many more are helping the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in the search.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff, there are helicopters also taking part in the search.

Sheriff Lucas says a UPS driver saw Sutherland jogging in the area of Jackson County Road 41.

According to Lucas, Sutherland lives on Highway 18 between Newport and Grubbs and often takes a walk or jogs.

The sheriff says Sutherland lives with her boyfriend and there are no indication of any issues.

Investigators have also spoken with other family members.

According to Lucas, Sutherland had her phone and an Apple Watch with her. The sheriff says AT&T has received pings from her phone in that area. Officials are also trying to get information from the watch, Sheriff Lucas says.

Officials say Sutherland went to a gym in Jonesboro on Wednesday and investigators are looking at surveillance footage there.

Sheriff Lucas also warned there was some information put on social media about a truck out of Texas and two men who might have been involved. The sheriff says this information did not come from law enforcement.

‘Finish Sydney’s Run’ challenge takes to social media honoring Sydney Sutherland

Runners across Arkansas are keeping the memory of Sydney Sutherland alive after she went for a jog last Wednesday and never came home.

Her body was found two days later after police say she was kidnapped and killed.

Sutherland’s friends are now running and posting to social media using the hashtag ‘#FinishSydneysRun’ to keep her memory alive.

“I literally would just replay over and over again in my mind Sydney didn’t get to finish this,” said Danielle Wright.

Wright grew up with Sutherland and her family. She says she is going the extra mile to honor the nurse who loved a lot of things, including running.

“Her spirit is just soaring, through every run, through every Facebook share, her story is being told and people are wanting to know who is Sydney,” said Wright.

I have not followed much on this recently. In the first days, the group was public and I read it throughout for a few days but they now made it a "join" and I tend not to do too much of that. There was a lot of local chatter on it.

He sounds like quite the cretin honestly. As to his wife of a few years, I don't know anything that would not be rumor from the page, but the wise thing would be to divorce him with what he is facing without a doubt.

There were people on the page wondering if this was his first and thinking of other missing females in that area. I will STRESS that is speculation/rumor.

However, just generally I do wonder, when it comes to the psyche of someone like this, did he hold in all of these years and then just one day act on his urges/sick whatever or has he done it before...

Some claimed he was always obsessed with Sydney... May she RIP, and see justice; I hope to remember to follow this one to see what the facts actually are.

Evil creep. So uncalled for, so unfair.

The report is a blow to the defense, who had requested the evaluation.

Glad he doesn't get to use that as an excuse!

GOOD! I didn't believe it for a second when it said such was requested that he would be found incompetent. It's good to see that the system works in that respect with those experts anyhow. Letecia Stauch too, TWO competency evals, both found he competent.

Self-defense class honors Sydney Sutherland

A self-defense class honored a Jackson County woman tragically killed last year. Instructors say the class is crucial to remember Sydney Sutherland and teach other women how to keep themselves safe.

On Monday, Bare Fit Personal Training had a “Fight Like a Girl” self-defense class. Sydney took classes at the gym, where they say she was just like family.

Sydney’s mother, Maggy Sutherland, was there and hopes the class will save a life.

“It’s very important. I always think every day, what could have Sydney maybe have done just to save herself, maybe got help faster?” said Sutherland.

The event raised over $1,000 and will go directly to the Sydney Scholarship fund at Arkansas State University-Newport.

This was a horrible crime. I am glad to see someone though that actually pleads guilty, faces it and does not take it all the way through trial and years to come.
