CA ORRIN WEST & ORSON WEST: Missing from California City, CA - 21 Dec 2020 - Age 3 & 4 *GUILTY*

I'm really glad they took the kids out of there! When I think about how cases used to be handled 10 or more years ago, at least I feel like things are moving ahead in a positive direction for the most part now. Off the top of my head I'm thinking of quite a few places where the kids should have been taken away. Susan Powell, Cody Haynes, etc.

Hmm, so they probably have both LE agencies from there. I know they have Kern County and believe it is Bakersfield PD. I will give the Chief of Cali that, at least he is using other help including the FBI, so many do not, egos I guess...
I think it also depends on what resources they have in their own departments.

Even me, as a lay person, I haven't really gotten involved in the missing person's case in my area only because they're doing such a great job on their own! If I have something to add, I will add it but they seemed to be doing everything right and I know they have a good law enforcement agency backing them up.

I can't help but think they have more reason for it. The Chief tried to put it down to they do that when kids are missing or something happened but a reporter said, that was not the case in his town, not automatically at all and the Chief never responded to that... I did not think it was generally that easy unless of course they found some type of evidence right off the bat or caught the parents in lies or something... Or, like you said above, maybe something one of the other children said/shared gave them the ability to remove them...

Personally, I think they should always take the kids aside and ask them a few questions and see if a more permanent removal is warranted.

I think sometimes parental rights get violated too but I agree that if there is a basis for anything, then they should do that. If they were called to the house for a missing child, domestic abuse and any thing like that, for SURE.

I'm working on some shipping I need to do today and I'm watching some YouTube about this case. I'm not sure if this is one that you posted G-Bear?

On it shows a small group of people in the area standing in the adoptive parents' driveway demanding to know where the boys are. I wonder if they were even home because I don't think it's legal for you to go on their property!

Took me a bit to watch it all. Some of the video of the parents is the same, not sure if I had seen the neighbors that close to the house before. Maybe I did but this one is further back so one can see they are on the property. Yeah, they are right up there, I wonder if the parents were home and if so, they aren't going to complain about trespassing because they are trying to play to the public and bio mom that they understand the upset but are innocent...?

I also noted the reporter in this one said the dogs only hit in the house and not the yard. If that is correct... Yet they were digging in the yard, so not sure what that means.

Rewatching the parents, I noticed more than I did the first time that she is nodding all of the time. When he talks like in agreement, when he is not talking she is nodding, when she is talking she is nodding... Not sure if I have ever seen anyone do this, it is basically constant, and then add the swaying some of the time... The nodding what is that? Being agreeable to the crowd, to what he says and being understanding or some such...?

When she was nodding like that I was thinking that she was thinking "yep that's the story that's the story". Years and years ago I took a rapport class to help with dealing with customer service and we did a eye contact class for a whole day and they said that most of the time when somebody's looking up they're trying to recall information and when they're looking down they're trying to make up information. Every time he looked down it was about the story of how they went missing. I need to go and look at it again but I don't think he looked down at all when he was talking about something that was easy to talk about.

That's interesting. I think everything they did like that was rehearsed and staged. I suspect she thought her nodding would make her look understanding of people's concerns, in agreement with him of the "FACTS" which they are purporting, etc. I should watch again too, I never looked much at the looking up or down with him or noted it. I know rewatching is what made me really notice how much she nodded. In the first watches, most of us including me were more noticing her swaying... Maybe that was meant to be a distraction... Lol. Overanalyzing I am.

Related but a bit off topic. Many years ago, maybe 20 or more, I saw something or read something where they mentioned "twinning" I think they referred to it as. Basically, it is repeating what the other's person's gestures are or mimicking them, not in a sarcastic way but in a subtle way... At times it is done unconsciously but it can be used to really make someone feel connected to you, understood and more and probably even used to con or snag a girlfriend lol...

Basically, for instance, let's just say you and a guy are sitting at a bar on an early days date, you are side by side... He is on the left. He is facing you and is leaning on his left elbow while he talks to you, maybe his fist under his chin or up by his forehead, looking interested in your conversation. After a minute or two, you are doing the same with your right... Maybe both leaning in some as well, doesn't matter, just whatever it is... It supposedly really subconsciously has an effect on that first person... Now you may have done this naturally, we do but it can be used, I think it was like a dating type of article lol. It could apply to anything, and all sorts of silent habits or gestures... It may be why people that are married for decades on end start seeming to be so alike (sometimes)... As it can be natural. However, this article was about using it as a tactic... Get that extra chance of landing a mate probably lol by doing such things...

Well, anyhow, to wrap this long post up, I started watching. I started testing too (not using it for any purpose, just like doing it with my mom, etc. and friends). I also noticed how much we all do it unconsciously at times in watching others... And how whether intentional or unintentional, it seems to make things more agreeable, a better time is had, a closer connection, etc. Or so it seemed to me. Anyhow I found it fascinating to watch and realize... All sorts of people watching isn't there? Lol.

You often see investigators using this during interrogations.

That's interesting you say that because as I did that post, it popped into my head that I bet detectives/investigators have had courses on creating "rapport" and interviewing a witness or suspect... Never thought of that before... I mean I have seen the good cop/bad cop routine and like having the 2nd person in another interview room and going back and forth and saying the one is spilling the beans and sure they are trained in that but... I mean I have seen sympathy used or understanding but I never really thought of training on nonverbal things and using that themselves...

That twinning that you described is was actually discussed in that same rapport class! We were told to cross our legs if the other person is crossing their legs, nod our head office they nod their head, etc.

That's exactly it! If using it knowingly, not absolutely immediately or you will be noticeable, ya know like your little sibling copying every movement you make immediately to irritate you, but yep, seconds or a minute or so after, casually... I found it so intriguing and so very interesting to watch people after reading that...

More than 100 search for missing Cal City boys in desert near their house
This process is just basically looking for anything. we don't even know if the boys were wearing shoes or socks at that time," Heather Dingley, from California City, said. "For me I see a mound of sand that maybe looks new, I'm going to kick it over, I'm gonna' dig it up."

Saturday, more than one hundred people searched through the desert, just to the East of the house where four year-old Orrin and three year-old Orson West were last seen, December 21st.

If someone found something of interest, they would raise their hands and police would come to them and the take evidence if needed.

"People keep asking me, Can we help? Can we help? Can we help?" Jon Walker, Police Chief for California City Police, said. "I'm not turning down any help from anyone. I'm very grateful that they want to come out and look for these kids."

Chief Walker, says right now police are waiting on the analysis results from the items that were taken from the house, the boys were last seen. Those household goods and electronic items are being analyzed in Bakersfield.

People searching tell Eyewitness News, they're not going to stop.

"I feel at this point a personal connection to these kids," Dingley, said. "I went out searching the night they disappeared, the next day on foot just going through the desert behind my house."

Walker says they're not ruling anything out at this point. They haven't identified anyone. Right now, they're trying to eliminate suspects.

I watched a portion of one of the YouTube tapes of the search. You can find them on YouTube and I'll try to remember to bring the link in later when I'm not on my phone.

One of them said they found an item that belonged to one of the kids? I'm not sure if that was verified or not though.
