CA ORRIN WEST & ORSON WEST: Missing from California City, CA - 21 Dec 2020 - Age 3 & 4 *GUILTY* (16 Viewers)

Last edited by a moderator:
I saw just a blip yesterday or the day before that the parents had requested visitation with their children and people were reacting of finding it hard to believe they still had their children to request visitation. The understanding was they were taken away some time ago long prior to arrest. Not sure on the facts on that and maybe they had been reunited no idea...

So do you know, I mean did they have them and now that in jail want to see their children who they had custody of or did they maybe have supervised visitation and want to continue it from jail...?

I didn't see enough to be sure or recall the situation prior...

It has long been speculated that the other children were of course questioned as to the last time they recall these boys being around. And the charges seem to indicate quite possibly that adults encouraged minors to participate in abuse (seem to indicate/speculation)...

I'm merely reporting what I saw on Court TV.

Community members continue holding vigils for West Boys

For the past 16 months, community members have been coming out to pray for two missing, toddler boys.

It started off as a way to gather community support to help find the boys, and a few months ago, it turned into asking for justice.

It used to be a candlelight prayer for Orrin and Orson West when they were reported missing in California City in December 2020.

But in March, law enforcement told the public that the boys are dead, and their adoptive parents were charged with murder.

People continue to come out for the boys, now trying to find their bodies ahead of the trial.

“They’re not just their kids, they became all of our kids.”

“We’re not giving up, until we get justice, answers, and closure.”

The adopted parents have pleaded not guilty and are being held with no bail. The trial is set to begin on May 23.

Cal City Boys: Biological mother, grandmother seek $40 million from county
Sixteen months have passed since toddlers Orrin and Orson West were first reported missing. Last month, adoptive parents Trazell and Jacqueline West were arrested on murder charges. Now, the boys' biological mother and maternal grandmother are demanding $40 million in damages from the county.

They sent a claim to the Board of Supervisors, and it is expected to be reviewed at their next meeting on Tuesday during their closed session.

Ryan Dean, the biological mother, and Dana Moorer, the maternal grandmother, allege the county repeatedly ignored their reports of suspected abuse while the boys were in the West's home. According to their claim, Orrin was allegedly taken unlawfully by the Kern County Department of Human Services following a trip to the emergency room, where doctors said he had multiple broken bones.

According to the claim, Dean had no prior criminal record or history of abuse. And when Orson was born, he was also taken by the county.

The biological father and paternal grandparents have filed a similar lawsuit against the county, alleging they also requested the boys be placed with them as well.

Eyewitness News reached out to both biological parents' attorneys and Human Services but did not receive a response.

The murder trial is scheduled to begin on May 23.

I'm like anyone and people will say no doubt 40 million and it is all about money BUT this agency DOES have some explaining to do AND they have every right to do this. There are sooooo many pictures of these boys happy before being with the Wests. Or before whatever started all of their journey.

In this case it seems CPS did what they shouldn't have and in other cases they don't do what they should.

I'm not going to say the mom was perfect because I don't know but it seems she did the best she could, had to work and raise boys, and likely needed reliable backup, etc. and was working to get them back IF they even should have been taken in the first place.

I don't think there is much doubt about the Wests in most people's opinions from early on. I don't think there is much doubt that this was all questionable that Trezell and Jacqueline could even be fast tracked with the adoption of these boys or adopt them at ALL. Sadly in following this case, most have learned that adoption, fostering, etc. is nothing what we all know of in years past of having to prove income, stability, enough room to take in children, adequate housing, etc. Even with these far lower standards, how in the he77 were these two handed these children???

$$$$ and PROFIT. There are quotas. Honestly it sounds as IF CA or at least this agency might just be taking children that shouldn't be taken to match that adoption number or surpass it (of the year before).

I can only say these two boys look and appear happy and taken care of and so loved by their mother. Pictures aren't everything but there are TONS. If there was any chance of leaving them with her or her keeping them or a blood relation keeping them then I fail to understand how they ended up adopted by the Wests. AND even if it was "kosher" to look at that, why the effort first wasn't mom, dad or extended family? Do they even have to make that effort because they darned well should have to!!

CPS etc. can't know everything but really, how was it looked at and decided that these boys would be better off with these two? Than someone bio, etc. and when Jacqueline and Trezell from all we know didn't have a pot to p*ss in, anything that would show they were any better of a choice for these children? They had no resources as far as we know, no home, no reliable jobs, etc. and on top of it were abusive and cruel to the boys imo.

This is one case the agency and what happened here needs to be brought to light!! And there has been not one hint that anything is being looked at nor that the agency is in hot water nor answer of how this all came to be. Sooo. SUE!! I applaud the family for suing, something needs to be done!!

CAL CITY BOYS: Trial of Trezell, Jacqueline West postponed

The murder trial of the adoptive parents of Orrin and Orson West has been postponed to July.

Trezell and Jaqueline West had been scheduled for trial later this month, but on Friday defense counsel requested the case be moved to July 25. Judge Judith K. Dulcich granted the motion.

Where are the boys? The tragic disappearance of 2 children from California City

The sun had sunk below the horizon and temperatures were dropping when Orrin and Orson West were reported missing from their California City home Dec. 21, 2020.

Orrin, 4, and Orson, 3, had been playing outside in the early evening, adoptive parents Trezell and Jacqueline West told police. Trezell West said he kept an eye on the boys as he gathered firewood.

He said he briefly went indoors and when he came back out the children were missing. He realized he left the gate open and conducted a frantic search of the neighborhood before calling 911, Trezell West told police.

Police and volunteers searched the area using K-9s but came up empty. They sent out a news release with a description and photos of the boys.

By the next morning, the community came together in the first of many massive searches. Even with a larger group of volunteers and sunny conditions, searchers found nothing.

What no one walking those neighborhoods or driving through the surrounding desert knew that morning — and wouldn’t until a shocking twist more than a year later — is the boys were already beyond their help.

According to prosecutors, Orrin and Orson were killed three months before they were reported missing. Their bodies have not been found.

And, prosecutors say, their killers were the two people trusted with their safety and well-being — their adoptive parents.

“This family shouldn’t have gone through this,” McCoy said during an April interview. “The foster system clearly failed here and so that is really our main goal.”
Pettus has also filed suit and has a hearing scheduled for August.

In the meantime, the question remains: Where are the boys?

Lying. There is plenty of desert to bury them. It sounds terrible. But I think that's where they are.

I don't back that family at all. It's about money. They were taken away for a reason. However, It isn't the first time that a child was placed with the wrong people and never had a chance in life. Foster parents, Adoptive parents need to be screened way more so it doesn't keep happening. I've seen a few times people become foster parents for a monthly check. Someone actually suggested that to me once. I went OFF!

No one else is making the agency answer for anything so far and they need to. And there are serious questions.

I'm not saying the bio family was good or bad but this adoption shouldn't have proceeded and there are also questions as to why a family member couldn't have had the boys, etc. and the Wests never should have been an option imo.

Cal City Boys: Trezell, Jacqueline West arraigned on new indictment

The adoptive parents of Orrin and Orson West were arraigned Friday on new charges of involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy.

Trezell and Jacqueline West, arrested in March on suspicion of killing Orrin, 4, and Orson, 3, now each face a total of seven charges.

The grand jury returned a superseding indictment that includes the new charges as well as those brought in the original indictment in March. In all, the Wests face two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of child cruelty, falsely reporting an emergency, involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy.

Alekxia Torres-Stallings, attorney for Jacqueline West, asked that bail be set for her client but Judge Judith K. Dulcich said the defendants will remain held without bail. She did, however, say motions seeking bail could be filed on behalf of both defendants and be heard at a later date.

Trial remains set for July 25.

Maternal grandfather of Cal City toddlers files claims against CPS

The maternal grandfather of Orrin and Orson West — the California City brothers whose adoptive parents now face murder charges in their deaths — has filed a claim against the Kern County Department of Human Services for allowing the boys to reside with their adoptive parents after he requested custody.

Leif Dean, the maternal grandfather, seeks upward of $25,000 in a civil case against Child Protective Services, an agency under the Department of Human Services. He maintains the agency ignored his requests to gain custody of Orrin, 4, and Orson West, 3, after they were adopted by Trezell and Jacqueline West. The claim is filed under the Kern County Board of Supervisors Tuesday agenda.

“His rights … were taken away and divested when CPS did what they did and handled everything inappropriately,” said Antonio Castillo, Dean’s attorney. The biological family “begged and pleaded with CPS to put the boys” in their custody, Castillo added.

Castillo is also representing the toddlers’ biological father, Charles Pettus, and paternal grandmother, Brenda Pettus, who have filed a lawsuit against CPS making similar allegations. He said he hopes to add Dean to the lawsuit. Kern County has rejected the claim, the attorney added.

Good. The county rejects it do they? Probably standard but even so pretty arrogant since they placed these children into the hands of sick murderous abusers when family members wanted them. They haven't had to answer for ANYTHING yet which is TOTALLYT disgusting and unbelievable. I don't think they have even had to answer as to how and why you could put ANY children with those two. How does a Jacqueline and Trezell even qualify with no income, no home, when the bio family was not in agreement with this and far more? California better be taking a look at this agency of theirs, taking them to task and more. Who was the worker who did all of this and WHY? And the entire fed system of $$$ for agencies adopting children out is also reprehensible imo.

I'm not saying the bio parents or family were perfect as I've said before and I don't know all but relatives did want these boys and try to get them. And TONS of pictures show happy boys with their mother and basically NONE with the Wests. BUT whatever the case, this agency NEEDS to answer and be taken to task imo.

Biological mother of West brothers breaks silence, files multi-million lawsuit

Eighteen months after Orrin and Orson West disappeared from the home of their adoptive parents in California City, the boys’ biological mother is breaking her silence.

“This is really hard to talk about,” said an emotional Ryan Dean, speaking to the public for the first time at a news conference in San Francisco since the day her biological sons went missing. “You guys ruined my life.”

Joined by her parents, Dana Moorer and Leif Dean, the family announced the federal lawsuit filed Friday against the state Department of Social Services, Kern County Human Services, and Jacqueline and Trezell West.

Representing the Moorer-Dean’s is San Francisco-based civil rights attorney Waukeen McCoy. McCoy believes the actions taken by county agencies to remove the children are in direct violation of the Family First Act of 2016.

“Each of them [county, state, Wests] interfered,” said McCoy. “With the reunification of and the preservation of the family.”

In April, McCoy filed a claim on behalf of Dean and Moorer. Since then, McCoy says the county rejected the claim and instead delegated the matter to county counsel, and the state failed to respond.

In 2016, Dean was suspected of child abuse after her she took her oldest son Orrin to Memorial Hospital for a broken leg. According to the suit, Dean filed reunification requests and completed parenting classes to regain custody but had no luck. In 2017, she gave birth to Orson only to have him removed a week later.

“To lose my child and to take my second child for a week and then lose him, it hurts,” said Dean.

In late 2018, both boys were removed from a foster home and placed with the Wests. Afterward, Dean noticed during visits that her children seemed scared and were losing weight, and Orson had scratches on his face, the suit says.

“I just want answers,” said Moorer. “Why? Why Kern County? What was the purpose of not giving them to me?”

In the suit, Moorer claims to have filed a request to have the children placed with her, but in 2019 the department revoked Dean’s parental rights “without explanation,” and denied Moorer’s request.

“Placing the children in the home of the Wests’ was a state-created danger,” said McCoy. “My clients want to make certain that this gut-wrenching loss does not happen to another family in the future.”

I honestly don't like the money end of this but that agency needs to have significant consequences. Serious ones. And not just in $$.

The ONLY other thing I know and it may not mean anything is there are tons of happy photos of these boys UNTIL in the care of the Wests where there are NONE and in fact just the opposite.

In no way, shape or form should Jacqueline and Trezelle West been approved to adopt these boys or foster any children. They had no home, no steady income and not enough bedrooms for the sheer number of children just for starters. It never has come out just HOW they managed to buy that house which these boys were never even brought to (lies) BUT probably helped finance...

This case SICKENS me and many and the CA agency and people involved that facilitated this are DISGUSTING.

Sorry but really!! And there are others and they had better be taking a good look at all the cases and placements!!

I don’t. It seems awful fast actually.

15 minutes in, Linda on this case. Video covers a number of cases. Mostly just recap and her observations on most cases or newest updates.

These two were to be tried on July 25th, now in October. Defense needs time. Boys not found yet.

Bio family suing Kearn Dept of SS, Human Services and the Wests. Gag orders on attorneys.
