That's just great all his needs are being taken care of and he is well. Sarcasm intended. At him and that they have to care. What a world.

Death penalty. They have it. Use it. Bad enough how he killed her. But to me there is no question he killed Nylo. And by the method they think he killed him b, Throwing him on the river. Horrifying. That poor boy must have been so terrified as he slowly drowned. Evil.

Court docs: Man charged in death of Nylo Lattimore and his mother requests hearing for reduced bond

The man accused of stabbing a mother to death and throwing her toddler in the Ohio River is asking for his bond to be reduced.

Court records show Desean Brown put in a motion for a hearing to address the issue.

Right now, he's currently being held without bond.

Family members of Nylo Lattimore, his mother outraged by man's request for lower bond

The father and grandfather of two murder victims said he’s outraged by a suspect’s request for a lower bond.

“Words can’t express how I feel about this monster who's trying to ask for a lower bond. He's got a lot of nerve trying to ask for a lower bond,” Rodrick Lattimore said.

That passionate response from Lattimore came after what he considers an outrageous request from Desean Brown, 22, the suspect who is in jail charged with the murder of Lattimore's daughter Nyteisha and his grandson Nylo. Police said Brown stabbed the woman to death and threw the 3-year-old boy in the Ohio River, alive. His remains have not been found.

In one case Brown’s bond is $1 million and in the other, there is no bond.

“Desean Brown deserves nothing less than the death penalty. That's exactly what you deserve — no mercy at all,” Lattimore said.

Brown’s trial is scheduled for October.

CPD: Man killed 3-year-old and his mother to get back at her for having a miscarriage

A new motive was revealed Friday in court for the killings of 3-year-old Nylo Lattimore and his 29-year-old mother Nyteisha in December 2020.

Kimberly Kelley, a detective for the Cincinnati Police Department told the judge it appears Nyteisha was pregnant with Desean Brown's child but then had a miscarriage. She said Brown was very upset and thought that Nyteisha killed his baby, so he was going to do something to her baby, Nylo.

Brown is accused of killing both Nylo and Nyteisha.

In court Friday his attorney asked the judge to prevent the use of Brown's confession tape in the trial. They claim the detective intimidated him into waiving his right to an attorney. The Judge said she would make a decision at a later date.

The judge refused to lower his bond despite the defense's request. Brown will remain behind bars with no bond option.

Another one trying to get a confession thrown out that he uttered. :(

Well now we know or see the likely motive.

The child did nothing to him! Nor did the mother but the child was most definitely innocent! He made his choice, the wrong one. And the confession should stand.

WATCH: Nylo Lattimore’s father attacks murder suspect in courtroom

The biological father of Nylo Lattimore on Thursday attacked the man accused of murdering the young boy.

Surveillance video footage provided by the Hamilton County Shershows the physical altercation.

Desean was in court Thursday at 10 a.m. for a pretrial hearing on a motion in the murder case against him.

Just before the hearing began, Nylo’s biological father, Tonio Hughes, charged the defense table and punched Brown in the right side of his head, according to Hamilton County Sheriff’s PIO Kyla Woods.

Two sheriff’s deputies quickly restrained Hughes and placed him into custody, Woods says. Other deputies then arrived to assist.

“Everything inside him, just the pain and everything took over,” said family friend Faith Burton. “He did what I think any of us would do.”

I know it is wrong but I'm having a hard time thinking he was wrong and I'm thinking good for him. I entirely understand the feeling and urge. Piece of scum evil baby killer.

and while what he did was wrong, I get it and hopefully the judge will too. I can see if they have to charge him, but let the guy off on sentencing with no time. I can see him getting probation and staying out of trouble and be done.

I hope so, I can't think of when or where but I have seen such almost being made an example of or sentenced fairly harshly. Most I don't think would but I remember it happening, just can't put my finger on who or where or why...

And it is wrong in the eyes of man's law, not so sure it is wrong otherwise... What the scumbag did was far worse and his punishment should be as well...

Mental health evaluation to push back trial for man accused of killing Nylo and Nyteisha Lattimore

Attorneys for the man accused of killing Nyteisha Lattimore and putting her 3-year-old son, Nylo, into the Ohio River while still alive claim he was mentally ill when he allegedly murdered them.

Defense attorneys hired a mental health professional to perform an evaluation on Brown; That evaluation claims Brown was suffering from "serious mental illness" when he allegedly killed the mother and son.

As a result, Brown's attorneys filed two motions: One requests the death penalty be dismissed in Brown's case because of the mental illness; a second motion requests to vacate Brown's trial schedule to allow the prosecution to appoint their own expert to evaluate Brown.

Prosecutors said they do intend to appoint an expert to perform their own evaluation, but said one hasn't yet been named. Because of the time this evaluation process will likely take, Judge Meghan Shanahan agreed to move the start of Brown's trial to October 26. A hearing will happen on Oct. 12 to determine whether that trial date will be sufficient, Shanahan said.

Brown was originally scheduled to face trial on October 17.

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The suspect in the killing of a Cincinnati mother and her 3-year-old son is fit to stand trial, according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Desean Brown is accused of killing Nyteisha Lattimore and her son, Nylo, in 2020.

Prosecutors think Nylo’s body was thrown into the Ohio River. Despite countless search efforts, his body has not been found.

Brown’s lawyers have filed a motion to exclude their client from possibly facing the death penalty, court records show.

The filed motion claims he is seriously mentally ill, which under Ohio law, means he could not receive a death penalty sentence.

The judge in the case says the prosecution needs time to have their own independent expert evaluate Brown to see if they to conclude Brown is mentally ill, as the defense determined.

A hearing for the exclusion of the death penalty motion is scheduled for Oct. 26.

Questions still surround case of Nyteshia Lattimore, son Nylo as suspect returns to court

On Dec. 12, 2020, a deadly mystery began unraveling along the banks of the Ohio River. That's when a security guard found a bag with the body of Nyteisha Lattimore inside.

Police said Lattimore had been stabbed to death several days before by Desean Brown, who also stands accused of throwing Nyteisha's 3-year-old son, Nylo, into the river's fast-moving currents.

"I want people to know that we'll never stop trying to bring Nylo’s body home and recover Nylo for the family," Faith Burton said.

Burton is among those who searched tirelessly for Nylo in the days and weeks after Brown's arrest. She's spent time with Nylo's dad, Tonio Hughes, who attacked Brown during a court hearing this summer.

"Tonio is heartbroken. He will never be okay. Never," Burton said. "He will not heal until his son is brought home."

Healing is all Burton and members of other organizations she's worked with, including Christian Aid Ministries, want as they keep amplifying the message that Nylo remains separated from his loved ones.

"You know, great families, both sides – the Lattimores, the Hughes – they're great, great people, which makes us want to work harder to bring him home," Burton said. "Because we see their pain. We're there with them grieving, and we just, we feel like, you know, we haven't done 100 percent until we recover him and bring him home."

Brown's legal case has been filled with starts and stops. He's due back in court Wednesday morning for another pre-trial hearing.

Man charged in killing Nylo, Nyteisha Lattimore seeks to dismiss murder charges

The man charged with the murder of a Cincinnati mother and her three-year-old son is filing a motion to dismiss the charges.

Desean Brown, who filed the motion on his own behalf, says because the body of Nylo Lattimore has not been found, the murder charge against him should be dismissed.

On top of his motion to dismiss, Brown will also have a hearing in a few months related to the death penalty.

Brown and his defense team are claiming he is mentally ill.

According to Ohio law, people with severe mental illness cannot be put to death.

The hearing for the death penalty aspect of the case is set for Aug. 31.

It is unknown when the judge could make a ruling on Brown’s motion to dismiss charges.
