Nylo Lattimore’s dad escorted out of hearing for son’s suspected murderer

The biological father of Nylo Lattimore was escorted out of the courtroom for a second time during a hearing for the man accused of killing the toddler and his mother in 2020.

Desean Brown is facing the death penalty for allegedly stabbing Nyteisha Lattimore and killing her 3-year-old son Nylo before placing the child’s body in the Ohio River in December 2020.

His defense team says Brown is mentally ill and had a psychologist testify to back their claim.

“He suffered from a severe mental illness at the time of the offense as charged and that severe mental illness significantly impaired his capacity to exercise his rational judgment,” Brown’s defense claimed.

Prior to the hearing, prosecutors spoke with Tonio Hughes who is Nylo’s father.

Hughes was allowed back in the courtroom Thursday despite being previously escorted out of the courtroom for attacking Brown during a June 2022 hearing.

There were six deputies in the courtroom Thursday to protect Brown.

Hughes glared at Brown throughout the hearing and interrupted the court during witness testimony.

The testimony continued, but Hughes made another outburst and was escorted out of the courtroom.

Prosecutors then put their psychologist on the stand who said Brown was mentally stable.

“I did not find any evidence from speaking with him or the other collateral sources of information of any significant disturbances of thought, mood or orientation or perception or memory,” the psychologist said Thursday in court.

Ohio law does not allow a person with severe mental illness to face the death penalty.

Brown’s attorneys say he is bipolar, which they claim falls under the statute to define someone as mentally ill.

Judge Megan Shanahan heard two hours of testimony Thursday from psychologists.

She said it will take her some time to go through all the analysis before deciding whether Brown’s case will go forward as a capital case.

The judge said she will have a decision on Sept. 26.

You go dad!!

What is this way of writing in this article.

Before "placing the child's body" in the river. Like h walked down to the shore and tenderly placed him... May be a small thing but that gives a different picture than what this was.

He also murdered the child's mother.

The tone of the article, there were six deputies in the room to protect BROWN, the perp.

"Despite" the fact, etc., etc. the dad was allowed back in the courtroom.

Maybe if they'd quit dancing to the tune of defendants/perps in most cases, it wouldn't drive loved ones near the edge because there just isn't the same consideration for them. They have to watch delays, games, hear lies, mental health defenses, excuses, etc. and the defendant being asked if he is okay and so on.

They have to sit "feet" at most from the defendant who killed their loved one. Been there. Ours still has to have holes bored into the back of his head, side of his face, back, you name it. All while we behaved of course which is an almost impossible feat with what they have done and what you have to see happen AND listen to.

You are to trust this slow, useless, excusing, defendant loving system to provide justice. You know what justice is, but you put it into their hands, and then have to watch this sh*t show.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean everyone in the system. We had a good prosecution bunch. Everyone else, well... And the RULES and rights and otherwise... WELL.... And the sentence....? WELL...

That is the only time I said I would try to kill someone. If someone hurt my parents. I'm being completely honest.
Let me tell you, stopping that instinct or having to not do it is a TOUGH one. I too would kill to stop the killing of anyone I loved. And when you have to spend close to a week in a hospital with a man free and near the baby HE put there and not under arrest, knowing he did it, it takes everything IN YOU not to do so. And then the wait for charges for months while free. And then the system and the court process. And then the result. I GET how this man feels. IF you could sit there and the b.s. and lies wouldn't be allowed, maybe. The games not allowed. Maybe. Maybe you could do it. You HAVE to do it is the thing. But it destroys you to tolerate it and go against your very instinct. They MURDERED innocent LOVED ONES. And people and the public and courts are getting almost blase about it. There just is so much and you hear it all the time and judges and you name it in murderous areas hear it all of the time, it's just another murderer. And it isn't personal to them. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It takes everything out of you and everything in you to get through it and it destroys you or comes close to it.

I even find myself in these cases getting oh, another one, and they don't hit like they used to because we are not the family, we see so much of it, etc. And I hate that.

Our system sucks and it has been destroyed. Oh yeah, best system in the world, better than stoning someone to death. We see it in every case now how it is pro defendant and how the victim's families can't believe there is nothing there for them. And no real rights. Good counties try to have someone help them and have investigators keep them informed of what they can but that's it. There is no real support nor rights. Even your one day you get at the end of all you endure, where you should be able to share it all and your piece on what it did, the victim impact statements, they are affecting now and saying what you can and can't say and how long, etc.

I had better stop. I have rattled on this morning and lost the time I need to get on it for work. Day five of six. Been brutal and over the holiday weekend. Yesterday was nuts. The day before we had a power outage which was more than interesting and my first working retail/at a store. And of course you know of the state's heat wave the last days on top of it. Yeah, been fun. Not.

CINCINNATI, Ohio (WXIX) - Nearly three years after the vicious slayings of a Cincinnati mother and her 3-year-old son, a judge announced Tuesday their accused killer can face the death penalty if he’s found guilty at trial.

The suspect, Desean Brown, 23, showed no immediate reaction as Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Shanahan gave her decision and then immediately set his trial for Dec. 5.

Brown is charged with two counts of aggravated murder and one count each of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in the December 2020 deaths of Nyteisha Lattimore, 29, and her toddler son, Nylo.

Brown’s lawyers wanted the death penalty taken off the table.

They contend he is seriously mentally ill and was incapable of knowing what he was doing.

Prosecutors strongly objected and cited multiple steps they say he took in trying to cover up the slayings. That proves he knew precisely what he was doing.

As Brown awaits trial, he is held on an order of “no bond” at the Hamilton County jail.

Trial date set for man accused of killing woman, throwing toddler in Ohio River

A trial date has been set for the man accused of killing a woman and throwing her three-year-old son in the Ohio River.

Desean Brown, 23, is facing murder charges related to the death of his girlfriend, Nyteisha Lattimore, and the death of her 3-year-old son, Nylo, in December 2020.

A jury trial date was set for Jan. 27, 2025.

Last month, the judge heard from three experts who testified about Brown's mental capacity. Their opinions were mixed, but they all said he denied any involvement in the murders.

Also in the court Thursday was Nylo Lattimore’s father, who had to be escorted out of the courtroom, appearing frustrated just seeing Brown and listening to the testimony.

At a previous hearing, Tonio Hughes had to be restrained after physically attacking Brown during another court hearing.

In court last year, Judge Megan Shanahan denied the motion to exclude the death penalty, ruling that while Brown may have been suffering from Bipolar Disorder, his illness did not significantly impact his judgment.

Good for the judge, DP should definitely be on the table and who cannot understand the child's father!

I myself am beyond disgusted at what I see as the namby pamby ways in many a case nowadays. In all aspects. And sides of the system.

Landed on the first page so reread some.

But didn't need to recall the case, pretty much recall it.

But definitely reminded me of the years and how long justice takes.

I will keep pointing that out, it is absolutely ridiculous.
IT isn't the time and while we often think all it's appeals and taking care, making sure the the Def gets a fair shot, etc., it is also about the system and people not doing their job, having some time, vacay time, etc. so all sides and judge agree. Only saying that becuase I've seen it, more than once.

Let's take six more months.

Right now not going to go into that but this poor little guy and his mom.

Trial delayed for man accused of killing girlfriend, her son

The trial of a man accused of killing his girlfriend and her son has been delayed.

DeSean Brown, 25, faced a judge Wednesday in connection with the December 2020 deaths of 3-year-old Nylo Lattimore and 29-year-old Nyteisha Lattimore, but his trial has been postponed.

Megan Shanahan, the judge assigned to Brown’s case, was elected to the Ohio Supreme Court, meaning that a new judge must oversee the proceedings.

Well I see there were a few more posts I should have looked at before commenting on more delayed trials... They NEED to FIX this SH*T. Does anyone know what a system that works is and efficiency...? Yah, uh, someone may be elected, someone may retire, someone may quit, justice should not be halted... My mom and I were just talking about this last night. We went through three years and it was TERRIBLE, the worst, and I told her what I see these days that was SHORT.... It is HE77 ON THE FAMILIES. Does anyone get you all miss work, some have to travel, some have to pay for hotels or you name it? Try showing up for a hearing but no one thought to tell you it was postponed. All attorneys knew and the judge but did the family get told? NO. YES, we let them hear about that ONE.... To their credit, THAT never happened again... Trial was delayed TWICE. We were VERY upset... I don't know if it is true for all but for us, grieving and burial and it being about her was never going to take place UNTIL justice was done... I think that is likely true for many a family...

People need to get to work and do their jobs. This country needs reform.

I am not talking politics but AM SERIOUS. I am absolutely digusted with our medical system. I've lived in pain and had further injuries as the don't know sh*t or do sh*t. There is a commonplace phrase now, I think it is "you need to advocate for yourself". I DID. Over and over and over and over...

I yell about the legal system all of the time... Okay, appeals, delays, one side or another needs more time, discovery isn't in, etc., etc... Much of it is lies and I know that for a fact. Attorney wants a few days off, they claim something, so does judge, etc. or whoever, or they aren't ready, they claim a conflict in schedule, etc... The worst thing, that long scheduled trial gets cancelled and NOTHING else drops into the slot, and the court calendar is not efficient in any way, shape or form. We would all be fired if we handled our jobs that way...

Okay. Better stop. Rant OVER.
