Search for missing 6-month-old baby continues in Clayton County

The search is ongoing Monday morning for a 6-month-old baby missing in Clayton County since early Sunday morning.

11Alive's Sefenech Henok is on scene Monday morning at the apartment complex in Riverdale where the baby went missing from, as Clayton County Police ask the public to keep their eyes open for Nnakai Pratt. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has also put out a call for the public's help in finding the baby.

CCPD said Sunday that officers were called to a location on Valley Hill Road in Riverdale just before 8:30 a.m. for a report of a missing child. The baby, since identified as Nnakai, was reportedly taken in an unknown direction.

As of now, investigators have not named any suspects or released information about a possible vehicle involved. The baby boy weighs 11 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

Monday morning police said there remains no suspect information and that the parents are cooperating with investigators. CCPD were also back at the complex Monday morning.

Since early Sunday, police activity has centered around the apartment complex on Valley Hill Road. Neighbors said they watched as officers searched multiple units and combed through nearby wooded areas.

Over the course of several hours, Clayton County detectives were seen examining the trunk of a white sedan parked at the scene. That car, along with an SUV, was later towed away as part of the investigation. A K-9 unit was also brought in to search the woods, and surveillance video from a nearby business appeared to show officers following a trail leading away from the apartment complex.

At one point, nearly a dozen police vehicles and a fire truck were on the scene, though most of the emergency crews have since cleared the area.

Several neighbors said they saw the baby’s parents speaking with officers on-site.

Around 8 p.m. on Sunday, almost 12 hours after the baby was reported missing, police issued a formal media advisory but did not enter an AMBER Alert due to the lack of information they had.

Police activity at home of missing 6-month-old baby in Clayton County; father arrested

Police searched Monday for a 6-month old child reported missing, with activity at the apartment complex where the family lives.

Clayton County police confirmed to Channel 2’s Tom Jones on Monday that they have arrested the baby’s father, Antonio Pearce, on unrelated charges. Those include marijuana possession, improper child restraint and driving on a suspended license.

He is being held in the Clayton County jail.

Investigators are working to determine the fact on the baby’s disappearance, so they have not released many other details.

Several police cars were in the area Monday, and a search was being done in the nearby woods as well as around the apartment complex. Law enforcement officials also used a drone to assist in the search.

A car near the home was taken away by tow truck while police were on the scene.

Hmmm. They must have caught him with an unrestrained kid in the car at that time, plus weed, which gave them the right to seize it, plus he already had his license taken away from him. I would say since he has no valid license, he most definitely has no insurance.

Any more I definitely give the side eye to any child reported "taken" or "woke up and the door was open" when the pic they give is obviously not a current one. He is definitely not near 6 months old in the pic they have released. It appears to be taken from a cell phone or similar, so there would most likely be so many more current ones from somebody. I always come back to thinking that either the child didn't make it much past that age or there were physical appearance issues (signs of abuse) afterwards that they don't want people to see. He looks 4 months tops in that pic but probably much younger than that.

Not just "arrested on unrelated charges". Now outright saying he's a suspect.

Clayton County police name father as suspect in baby’s disappearance

Police in Clayton County are searching for 6-month-old Nnakai Pratt after what began as a reported armed robbery and kidnapping.

Monday morning, the baby's father was arrested by police on unrelated charges and by the afternoon, police named him a suspect.

Investigators have now named Pearce, 38, as a suspect in his son’s disappearance. He was booked into the Clayton County Jail early Monday on unrelated charges including marijuana distribution, driving with a suspended license, and a child restraint violation. Jail records show he is being held without bond.

Authorities have not said what evidence, outside Pearce's inconsistent statements, led them to suspect foul play in the disappearance of 6-month-old Nnakai Pratt.

It is not clear if there actually was a robbery.

Investigators have not said if officers recovered the infant’s car seat or other belongings.

At least he's not going anywhere for a bit

Search for missing 6-month-old baby continues in Clayton County in its third day

The search for a missing 6-month-old baby entered its third day Tuesday in Clayton County, after police the day before named the father a suspect in his disappearance.

Police told 11Alive's Sefenech Henok early Tuesday they were examining evidence in the case to better determine further locations to search. They still consider it an active search and are maintaining hopes the baby will be found alive.

I was reading rumors very similar to this early on. That Nnakai is a twin. Dad left with both babies but then only had one.
I wonder if the child restraint violation is in regards to having only one car seat for both babies?

Police said Monday that the father of the 6-month-old child reported missing a day ago is now a suspect in the investigation.

Another woman was taken in for questioning. She told Channel 2 that she was dating Pearce but did not know he had any children. Nnakai also has a twin sibling, who is safe.

Rumors I've seen are that mom had one and he had the other.

Could this person he is dating be the reason why Nnakai is missing? Not saying she had anything to do with it, but maybe she said something about not wanting kids or didn't want to be with somebody that already had kids and he "fixed" that problem?

I'm still betting that somebody was inquiring about the baby and was getting ready to make him produce him.

Body found in search for missing 6-month-old in Clayton County

Sources confirm to Channel 2 Action News that police believe they have found the body of a 6-month-old baby who had been reported missing.

Police returned to the apartment complex on Tuesday evening, where they believe the 6-month-old baby disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Channel 2’s Tom Jones was there as police placed crime scene tape around a dumpster and parts of a wooded area near the apartment complex where baby Nnakai Pratt disappeared from.

Jones said he saw investigators place a tarp over something in that wooded area.

The child’s father, Antonio Pearce, lives in an apartment near there and reported him missing Sunday morning.
