How investigators are searching for answers in the disappearance of Nikki Winder

Brazos County Sheriff’s Office investigators searched two properties Wednesday in the 19000 block of FM 974 as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nikki Winder.

The search warrants are part of the department’s continued effort to locate Winder and determine the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, according to the sheriff’s office.

During the operation, 50-year-old Dustin Winder, a Brazos County resident, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for solicitation of prostitution. The warrant stems from evidence developed during the investigation but is related to a separate criminal offense, not directly tied to Nikki Winder’s disappearance, authorities said.

According to the sheriff’s office, the properties searched are connected to Dustin Winder.

No arrests have been made in direct connection to Nikki Winder’s disappearance. Investigators said locating her and determining what happened remain top priorities.

Missing Woman Nikki Winder’s Brother Arrested for Unrelated Crime After Search Warrants Were Executed

As the search for missing Texas woman Nicole “Nikki” Winder continues, her brother has been arrested for an unrelated crime after investigators executed a search warrant at a pair of properties he owns.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the search warrants were part of the ongoing investigation regarding Winder’s disappearance, according to KBTX.

County tax records show that the missing woman’s brother, Dustin Winder, owns both properties, which are located just a mile apart.

Dustin was arrested on the morning of Wednesday, April 15, on a warrant for soliciting prostitution, according to jail records. The incident took place on February 17, which was before Winder, 53, went missing on February 25.

The sheriff’s office said that they discovered the evidence amid the investigation into Winder’s disappearance, though the arrest is related to a separate criminal offense.

“During today’s operation, Dustin Winder, a 50-year-old Brazos County resident, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for solicitation of prostitution,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement, per the outlet. “This warrant is based on evidence developed during the course of the investigation but relates to a separate criminal offense and is not connected to Ms. Winder’s disappearance. The search warrants executed today were conducted at properties connected to Mr. Winder.”

Sons of Nicole “Nikki” Winder release new statement

On Saturday, Coy Winder, the son of the missing Nicole “Nikki” Winder, told KBTX that a recent statement from an attorney “was not made by, nor does it represent, Nikki Winder’s children.”

Winder said statements released Friday by an attorney on behalf of the Winder family “do not speak for [Winder’s sons], our views, or our interests, as we are not under legal counsel.”

The statement goes on to explain that Winder’s sons ask not to be included, referenced, or grouped into any public statements on behalf of other family members or parties.

“Our focus remains on our mother and on seeking truth, clarity, and justice. We appreciate the continued support and ask for respect of our position during this difficult time,” Coy Winder said.

“We want to make a clear and respectful statement regarding the recent message released on behalf of the “Winder family.” That statement was not made by, nor does it represent, Nikki Winder’s children. Any statements made by an attorney referenced in that release do not speak for us, our views, or our interests, as we are not under legal counsel. We respectfully ask that we not be included, referenced, or grouped into any public statements made on behalf of other family members or parties. Our focus remains on our mother and on seeking truth, clarity, and justice. We appreciate the continued support and ask for respect of our position during this difficult time," Coy Winder’s statement read.

His statement follows one made by Bruno A. Shimek, Attorney-at-Law, and private investigator Donnie Manry, who said it was on behalf of “The Winder Family.”

It reads that Winder’s family continues to pray for her safe return and that it has continued to be a difficult time for them, with not only Nikki missing, but a family member under suspicion.

“We firmly believe that no family member is involved in Nikki’s disappearance. Our office has been working with the Winder family since the day after Nikki’s disappearance and have furnished all leads and tips that we have come across to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department, and we will continue to do so,” the statement said in part.

The attorney released that statement after Winder’s brother, Dustin Winder, was arrested on Wednesday morning on a warrant for soliciting prostitution, according to the Brazos County jail records. Online records show the alleged incident occurred on Feb. 17, a few days before Nikki went missing.

So, the family doesn't believe the brother has anything to do with Nicole's disappearance? How about the alleged solicitation of prostitution?

It's a little confusing. But I don't think so.

This attorney released a statement that said, "We firmly believe that no family member is involved in Nikki’s disappearance." It was said "On Behalf of: THE WINDER FAMILY"

My interpretation is that her children do NOT agree with this statement. And that this attorney does NOT speak for them in saying this.

Okay, yes it does sound confusing.

Nicole Winder missing: Blood found in driveway after Brazos County woman's disappearance

Brazos County authorities are still investigating the disappearance of Nicole "Nikki" Winder after revealing blood was found on the property where she was last seen on Feb. 25.

On Wednesday, the sheriff's office reported the day after Winder was reported missing, investigators located blood in a driveway in a wooded area around FM 974 on the property where she was last seen. According to officials, DNA laboratory results have confirmed the blood belongs to Winder, and the amount of blood pointed to a severe injury.

The afternoon she disappeared, Brazos County investigators say her white 2025 Chevy truck was found on fire at an oil pad site. Fire investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.

Authorities have not yet identified any suspects or persons of interest publicly. However, they are tracking down a specific Polaris UTV identified by several people after the release of security camera footage from Feb. 25.

The last four digits of the Polaris investigators are looking for are 7827. Investigators have not found this Polaris.

Brazos County Crime Stoppers is offering two separate rewards in connection with this investigation. The first is a $1,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the Polaris ATV, and a separate reward is being offered for information leading to the outcome of this case.

Nicole Winder missing for 4 months; Brazos County investigators continue search

Four months after Nicole Winder disappeared, investigators with the Brazos County Sheriff's Office are still searching for answers.

"This case started back in February 25th, and it started as a call that somebody had seen a fire," Nathan Dennis of the Brazos County Sheriff's Office said.

Since then, investigators have searched thousands of acres of land, followed leads across Brazos County and worked to piece together what happened to Winder, who is also known as Nikki.

Forensic testing confirmed blood found at the property where Winder was last seen belonged to her. Deputies have also asked the public for help identifying a Polaris UTV they believe may be connected to the case.

"We've utilized drone technology, we've utilized boats, helicopters, canines, you know, we're doing everything that we can to find answers and to investigate the details and everything around Nicky's disappearance," Dennis said.

Community volunteers have spent months organizing searches and holding events to keep Winder's name in the public eye.

"I think it just highlights our community in general," Dennis said.

"They see loved ones and friends that are hurting and they want to support them and they too want to find the answers," Dennis said.

Authorities say finding Winder remains their top priority.

"Our number one goal is finding Nikki, and we're gonna continue to investigate all the details of what happened with her disappearance," Dennis said.
