The family of a Georgia woman who vanished in early July is begging for answers about what has happened to their loved one.

Young mom, Natalie Pearl Jones disappeared on July 5th. Jones, age 27, was last seen in Opelika, Alabama near River Chase Drive. Jones had driven from Heard County, Georgia to Jackson’s Gap, Alabama to celebrate the Fourth of July with friends.

Since Jones’ disappearance, her family has not stopped searching for her. They have tried to retrace Jones’ steps on the day she disappeared. “What we’ve done as a family is just hours on the road, driving the route she may have taken, going down dirty roads in Franklin. We’ve just done a lot of driving.”

Bishop told News 3, the Heard County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation not the GBI.

“They are not the lead on this case, and the reason why she’s on the GBI missing persons list because we as a family requested for her to be added to that list.”

Jones has a very distinctive car, a hot pink four door Chevrolet Cavalier with a blue stripe. The car’s Georgia license plate number is RVE6177.

The family of a Georgia mom who mysteriously vanished over the Fourth of July weekend are desperate for answers and for her safe return.

Natalie Jones, 28, of Grantville, was last seen on July 4 as she drove away from a friend’s home in Opelika, Alabama, between 10:20 p.m. and 11 p.m. According to her sister, Jessica Bishop, someone sent a text from Natalie’s phone around at around 12:52 a.m. on July 5. It’s the last known message from her Jones’ phone.

“I made it,” the text read.

Bishop told CrimeOnline that her sister was at a Fourth of July party with several friends at home off of Riverchase Drive in Opelika, but none of the friends knew where Jones planned to drive to after she left.

Police reportedly tried to access additional information from Jones’ cellphone, but Bishop said there was “minimal activity” available because Jones used a texting app.

Jones’ phone last pinged “from a south tower in Ephesus near Franklin, Georgia,” at 4:40 a.m. on July 5, according to Bishop. Since then, the phone has been turned off, something Bishop previously said was out of character for her sister.

Bishop added that Jones would never willingly leave her children, two sons, ages 11 and 4, and was in good spirits and “hopeful for the future.”

Family members are now pushing for additional assistance; they’ve requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to take over the case.

The Georgia State Patrol aviation team conducted an aerial and ground search in Franklin County last Wednesday but found no evidence. Authorities also searched a lake in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, according to Bishop, but found nothing.

At first I thought she might have gone off the road into a body of water but that doesn't explain the text. It's an oddly worded text to send "I made it, thanks". If I'm letting friends know I'm home I would just text I'm home.
The fact that no one has found her car is weird considering it's been a month and her car is bright pink.

This does not even say who she sent the text to. It would lead me to believe it was sent to that sister most likely the "I made it" but it really doesn't say that... I guess I am doing my usual in that they could just know it is her last text to someone else... Media wording too sometimes, never sure. This color of course and the car not found is odd. Unless it is typical in other areas, it certainly is not something typical here for color or style. It would be noticed, but if someone did not know it was being looked for in relation to someone missing, maybe not... Or someone would not put it together. It is not like a nationally known case nor one most people are likely aware of... And an adult--so may be treated as an adult gone missing maybe willingly and so not a priority. Just thoughts.

Boswell said investigators have spoken to people Jones was texting through her phone, and all have been cooperative. But so far, they haven’t been able to get the records of her conversations with people on texting apps and social media.

“We’re still looking into some of those individuals … just to see if maybe she had met up with someone,” Boswell said.

Though Jones has been diagnosed as bipolar and schizophrenic, she has not been prescribed medication for the conditions, and according to findnataliejones.com , “her actions and temperament around the time of her disappearance do not lead the family or, from our understanding, the authorities to believe it is a factor in her disappearance.”

And that's what throws me off ANY other theory than her car being in water somewhere. Someone would have seen her bright pink car in the past month. It doesn't exactly blend in. I mean, theoretically she could be on some rural property, which is a good reason to check those messages (they still haven't been able to check after a month???). But unfortunately I'm still thinking water.

Heard County Sheriff's Office Lt. Danny Boswell says Jones left the party on July 4 around 10:30 pm.

At 12:52 a.m. she sent a message to a friend at the party, saying, “I made it. Thanks.”

“She didn’t say where she made it [to],” says Boswell. “She just said, ‘I made it. Thanks.’ There were no further communications after that other than her receiving texts.”

Boswell says her phone’s last ping with a cell tower was at 5:15 a.m. in Heard County.

“It was in the opposite end of the county from her home,” he says.

What?? After all of this time her body and the car appear? And appear on a day search and rescue just happened to come to town? I wonder how long she had been deceased. Someone just drives her car there with her body in it and was unseen of course? Or so it appears.

I can only figure it was in a garage or parked on a rural property where no one could see it... Like out on the back 40 in the trees, etc. And maybe an announcement of a search panicked someone thinking drones or overhead air searches would see that bright car... But...

Moving the car is one thing but the body too?

As for her driving it, I guess that would mean she was hiding for months and she had her car hidden, again, perhaps in a garage, and now decided to go drive somewhere and commit suicide? Not sure I can buy that because she had to be somewhere or at someone's house...

I am sorry to hear she is dead but this is strange. The fact she was identified fairly quickly would almost make me think she was identifiable in which case she has not been deceased for the months she has been missing... Generally formal identification is something we end up waiting on...

And yet, who dumps a car with the body in it after all of this time? If she has been dead for months, trying to be delicate here, but someone driving it would have a smell to deal with just as they would if it was in their garage, etc...

I imagine the details in this case are going to be very different OR difficult to believe. If this was some black SUV maybe not but this car never seen nor noticed all of these months...? Someone had to see someone driving it or leaving it...?

Boy if that is not the opposite of what was first read. The comments under the article are interesting--not sure what to believe. The sheriff himself says it would not have been as brushy then so driving in there wouldn't be hard but my thought to that is if it would not have been as brushy, then why was it not seen...? I sure hope he has photos of what he talks about and perhaps he should get them out, like of the bushes grown through parts of the car... If he wants to put rumors to rest, it would maybe one way to stuff some of them...

I don't know enough to doubt him but most of the people in the comments sure seem to and some say flat out it was not there and the family looked there...

I will say it is interesting that recently there was pressure and a petition for a grand jury to question someone and an SAR team came to town and lo and behold, an answer and she and the car are both found after all of these months... And another coincidence making a few coincidences is that the owner decided to start brush hogging at this very time also, etc... Did this same owner ever drive this road/path or walk it back earlier in the summer when the brush was lower...? You tend to brush hog areas you use and care less about ones or parts of property you don't...

I too will wait on an opinion until hearing more... It could be trolls but the commenters seem to have an opinion of the investigation or lack of one and the department... I guess I have no reason to believe that though so I truly don't know and am not leaning in any direction at this time... Just thoughts...
