‘Today’ show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother is missing in Arizona and authorities suspect crime

The disappearance of the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie over the weekend is being investigated as a crime based on what authorities saw at her home, an Arizona sheriff said Monday.

Asked to explain why investigators believe the Tucson-area home is a crime scene, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Nancy Guthrie has limited mobility and said there were other things indicating she did not leave on her own, but he declined to further elaborate.

“I need this community to step up and start giving us some calls,” Nanos said during a news conference.

The sheriff said Guthrie, who lived alone, was of sound mind.

“This is not dementia related. She’s as sharp as a tack. The family wants everyone to know that this isn’t someone who just wandered off,” Nanos said, adding that she needs her daily medication.

Guthrie was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at her home in the Tucson area and her family reported her missing around noon Sunday, the sheriff said.

Nanos said a family member received a call from someone at church saying Guthrie wasn’t there, leading family to search for her at her home and then calling 911.

“From what the family’s told us and everything we’ve learned, she could not walk out of that home 50 yards. We believe she was taken out of the home against her will, and that’s how this investigation is moving,” the sheriff told NBC’s Tom Llamas.

On Monday morning, Nanos said search crews worked hard but have since been pulled back.

“We don’t see this as a search mission so much as it is a crime scene,” the sheriff said.

Even so, a sheriff’s helicopter flew over the desert Monday afternoon near Guthrie’s home in the affluent Catalina Foothills area on the northern edge of Tucson. Her brick home has a gravel driveway and a yard covered in Prickly Pear and Saguaro cactus.

Savannah Guthrie issued a statement on Monday, NBC’s “Today” show reported.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” she said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear Nancy.”

Ya'll (yes, all) need to knock it off.
Stop trying to police what people are allowed to talk about.
If you don't agree, or don't think something is relevant, or just plain ol' don't want to engage with that person, that information, or that source...ignore them!
And also remember that just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they are trying to argue. It's okay to have different perspectives and point out your viewpoint or information, and at the same time, not be arguing or criticizing.

Everyone just needs to take a big breath. If people are getting under your skin, maybe go touch some grass and come back in a bit. The arguing is getting childish and hard to read through.
Sure so long as that always applies to everyone. Tell me how to block and I will. Already was ignoring. And like 4 people have had it today if not more.

So time me out why don't you? Good Lord.

With respect but don't be a JT, and look at it.

I'm sure this will really encourage new members to talk.

That at least fits. On a cool desert night, riding a cycle would be even cooler...

Still think he was disguised though just for the crime. Not sure if he traveled in the garb or not.

No one imo can be sure of anything in this case thus far.
I don’t think he could put an 84 year old woman, not very mobile, on the back of a motorcycle.

This could mean something…maybe?

Two SWAT armored vehicles have just departed the Pima County Sheriff’s parking lot, though it is unclear if the movement is related to investigation surrounding Nancy Guthrie.

Fox News observed deputies loading shields and other tactical gear before leaving.

It is the first time the vehicles have moved since the search for Nancy began nine days ago.

Ohhhhh.

Interesting... except if he had a history of theft, I would think he wouldn't have done some of the things he did on camera. He would likely know about how the cameras work because his lifestyle would rely on that knowledge.

Looking again at the video of the person at her door, that backpack already has quite a bit of stiff in it. It looks possibly full.

Activity has been reported in the bitcoin account connected to the search for Nancy Guthrie, according to TMZ.

Harvey Levin claimed that within the last 15 minutes, TMZ has seen activity in the account mentioned in the original alleged ransom note for Guthrie.

When asked by CNN what kind of activity was spotted in the accout, Levin said "that's what I can't talk about."

Not sure how tmz has the Bitcoin account info and the ability to track it. Very interesting, if true or it just means that they used the account for something else, but still leads to the question of how tmz knows the account info.

TMZ supposedly received the ransom email with the bitcoin account listed. Ever since, they have been monitoring that account from what I understand.

I wonder if the FBI placed money in the account in an attempt to further trace the source. I know next to nothing about bitcoin and if that would even be a possibility.

I guess tmz might have been one of the media outlets that was provided the info by the ones seeking the ransom payment.

Mr. Sunburst is listening to Fox. They are interviewing a former homicide detective. Detective is saying because of the SWAT trucks, there will be an arrest very soon, in the next 24 hours. He believes they have a name of at least one person, maybe more, that SWAT is going after. SWAT is apparently headed to the neighborhood where Annie's house is.

Yeah, I thought about that afterwards.

I was also wondering if that was the reason why there was action on it

If not, they are definitely planning on raiding something with info they have. Hopefully their Intel still holds and they do get them.
