Ewunetie's brother spoke to ABC News and provided more details on the timeline of her disappearance.

Her family says Misrach Ewunetie spent Thursday night at an event with the Princeton Terrace Club, a food eating club. They say she left to go back to her dorm between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m.

According to one of her suitemates, she was home at about 3 a.m., and told them she was at the club that night, brushed her teeth, and then went to her room.

The family says her direct roommate came home at around 4:30 a.m., but said she didn't see Ewunetie in their shared room.

The family had been trying to call her on Friday, but calls were ringing through. Her phone was receiving messages.

On Saturday, Ewunetie was supposed to have an interview about 45 minutes away from campus regarding her U.S. citizenship application and the family became concerned when she was a no show. The family came over from Ethiopia in 2008.

By Sunday, text messages weren't getting delivered, and her phone went straight to voicemail. That's when the family says they got very concerned.

Ewunetie's other brother Johnatan, then checked her Apple location sharing, and saw that her phone's last ping was at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, near an off-campus housing complex that University said was about a 30 minute walk from her dorm.

The last time her cell phone was pinged to a cell tower was 6 a.m. Sunday.

School officials said the Department of Public Safety was notified by Ewunetie's family on Oct. 16 that they had not heard from her for several days and they requested a well-being check.

The next day on Monday, DPS issued a missing student Tiger Alert.

By Wednesday, more Princeton police were patrolling the university campus and deployed a helicopter, drones, and watercraft to increase their search radius.

Ewunetie was on school grounds near Scully Hall when she was last seen, according to the Princeton Department of Public Safety.

Misrach Ewunetie, a 20-year-old Princeton University student from Euclid, was last seen on Friday at around 3 a.m. near her dorm.

Friday was also the last day of classes at Princeton before its one-week fall break.

On Monday, the university reported Misrach missing. Two days later, she still has not been found.

The undergrad is in her junior year at the Ivy League school in New Jersey, studying sociology on a full-ride scholarship.

Before attending Princeton, Misrach lived in Euclid with her family. She graduated at the top of her class in 2020 at Cleveland's Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, while also playing soccer.

Sarah Ellacod was her teacher at Minds Matter Cleveland. She tells 3News that Misrach is smart, bright, and would never simply wander off. "I know she is usually in touch with her family. They are very worried about her."

A missing Princeton University student’s cellphone pinged near a New Jersey housing complex two days after she vanished, her distraught brother said in a new report, calling the situation “a nightmare that I cannot wake up from.”

Misrach Ewunetie, 20, went missing on Friday but she was sharing her location with a family member — and her phone pinged off-campus near Penns Neck early Sunday before it was turned off, her brother told the US Sun.

“That’s the last place her phone pinged,” brother Universe Equnetie, 20, told the Sun. “It’s very unlike her to turn off her phone, kids these days don’t turn off their phones, they love their phones.”

Police have gone to the undisclosed housing complex three times — including once with police dogs – since the phone last pinged at 3:27 a.m., Universe told the Sun. Universe joined officers on the third search, but it only lasted a half hour, he claimed.

“It was not enough time because the back area was wooded and full of ground vines and shrubs,” he said. Cops couldn’t search the houses at the complex without a warrant, but they did speak with some residents, the Sun reported.

The family of missing Princeton University student Misrach Ewunetie has been "kept in the dark" by authorities, according to her brother, who says they're desperate for information and working to put together a timeline of her whereabouts.

Ewunetie, 20, went missing six days ago, prompting university officials to intensify their search for the junior.

Her family is particularly alarmed she missed a meeting regarding her citizenship on Saturday, said her oldest brother, Universe Ewunetie.

"There's no constant update or interaction with us," he told CNN by phone on Thursday, referring to campus authorities and the prosecutor's office. "We're really kept in the dark."

Universe Ewunetie said authorities told him the investigation will take time. "That's one thing we don't have, we don't have time," he said.

Princeton University students were told once again Thursday to expect increased law enforcement presence on and around campus as the desperate search for missing undergrad Misrach Ewunetie nears a full week.

No additional details were provided in Thursday morning's brief update. Campus safety has advised students they'll see more drones, helicopters and watercraft canvassing the university for Ewunetie, who hasn't been seen since Friday.

Princeton student Misrach Ewunetie was found dead on Thursday nearly one week after she went missing, officials said.

The 20-year-old's body was found around 1 p.m. "outside on the Facilities grounds behind the tennis courts" by a facilities employee, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said.

"There were no obvious signs of injury and her death does not appear suspicious or criminal in nature," prosecutors said.

An autopsy will be conducted, prosecutors said.

Maybe they are just playing it safe with no outward initial signs of foul play or cause.

It also means no outright sign of suicide.

Probably just being noncommittal until more is known.

I often lean towards foul play but my first thought in this case was pressure and maybe taking a break, escaping. Not necessarily thinking suicide. Citizen thing, finals, scholarship, a lot of pressure.

Really not sure. Seems a bit strange though now. More info needed.

PRINCETON student Misrach Ewuentie's family has raised more than $60k for an independent autopsy and funeral costs in less than 24 hours after her "suspicious" death on campus.

Despite Mercer County claiming there were no obvious signs of foul play and her death "did not seem criminal in any nature", her family are not convinced.

Her brother Universe revealed a worker had to cut back tree branches for them to remove her body from the bizarre location.


Mercer County, which conducted its own autopsy on Friday, is also refusing to comment further as they wait for toxicology results to come back.

Suicide or other, they seem to see nothing as the cause of death and so one really can't assume it is suicide either.

Let's even say it was suicide well then from what? Overdose? Well then I'd want to know where the for instance pill bottle was, how her phone pinged where it did, when because she was with it enough to turn her phone off if I have it right and find a spot to tuck into and wait. Or there should be evidence of how she did it in that spot.

Bottom line though is no family should or would be okay with the info so far as to knowing what happened. I wouldn't be.

It definitely needs to be looked into and not just swept under the rug. Even if it was suicide, they need to find out how.
