OR MICHAEL BRYSON: Missing from Hobo Camp, Lane Co, OR - 5 Aug 2020 - Age 27

DORENA, Ore. -- Search efforts have grown to find 27-year-old Michael Bryson who went missing early Wednesday morning.

Bryson was camping at the Hobo Camp Campground with friends last week when he wandered away from the site Wednesday morning and that was the last time he was seen.

The search is not isolated to just the campground and surrounding areas. Friends have deployed into cities all over western Oregon looking for any leads that could point them to where he might be.

His family said the longest they've ever gone without hearing from him is two days.

"It's very rare that five days in he would not have reached out to mom, dad, or sister," his uncle said.

The effort to find Bryson has grown beyond just those who knew him.

A facebook group with more than 2,000 members is dedicated to finding the young man.

The man's dad said Bryson doesn't know a stranger. He said his son was kind and friendly to everyone he met. He said he hopes that's the energy that brings him home.

A $10,000 reward is available for any information leading to his discovery, all which was donated to fuel efforts to find him.

It appears there is a "Blaize Powers" that hangs out with the crowd. I don't know if he was at Hobo's Camp at the time, however. It could mean he made his girlfriend mad and it's to get back at him, for all we know at this time.
Agree, tongue in cheek, it would be like an ex of Ron Logan trying to get back at him...

I don't put much store in this at all. I do think someone putting it on a county jail exterior wall would become of note and cause someone trouble... I guess it is possible it COULD relate but then you stinking arse, come forward with what you know and be a stad up person.

If I were Inn the parents'shoes, I wouldn't get too excited although I guess it could show there are tensions going on bewtween some who may know the truth, but sure would not count on it.

It's okay to look, but please leave him alone and let's not "sleuth" him. For all we know, he's done nothing wrong.
I certainly won't, no time and honestly if this message MEANS anything it is trying to throw things yet again off the "twins"... At someone else... Seems to me to be the theme throughout from day one..

Families of missing persons get DNA test of skull fragments after 20-month delay

A group of families are celebrating progress made in getting human skull fragments found in an extremely rural area of Lane County DNA tested after 20 months of waiting.

Parrish Bryson is the father of Michael Bryson, a 27-year old man who went missing back in August of 2020 after attending a rave roughly 20 miles east of Cottage Grove.

Although Bryson does not believe the skull fragments -- discovered in the Blue River area -- belong to his son. He said he and several other families with missing loved ones worked together to get the fragments tested for DNA.

"There were human remains found in September of '23. It was a skull. It was entered into Oregon State Labs October 1 of '23. And it has been sitting on a shelf ever since. Those remains could potentially belong to any one of a minimum of three cases that I'm aware of in that area," Bryson said. "As far as a win is concerned, it could still have been sitting on that shelf had we not been vocal. When I say we, it's just not Michael Bryson Foundation, but also Dylan Legacy and the families of the missing loved ones that are up in that area."

Volunteers search McKenzie River for missing locals with Dylan's Legacy support
Volunteers with the nonprofit Dylan's Legacy have spent the past week along the McKenzie River searching for the remains of several missing people from Lane County.

The effort brings together families of the missing—like Shane Sprenger and Michael Bryson—men who've been missing for more than four years from the Dorena and Blue River area.

Dylan's Legacy was founded by Candice Cooley after her son, Dylan, was murdered in Utah.

The nonprofit is aiming to fill the gaps left by underfunded and overburdened agencies and has raised thousands of dollars through fundraisers.

Dylan's Legacy funds canine searches, drone mapping, and forensic evidence recovery.

“Everybody deserves to be found, and every parent deserves to have peace. There's never closure, but there's at least peace,” says Cooley. “We’ve just seen this need for us to band together as families, be able to raise funds to get more of these missions funded where we have lack of funding in law enforcement, search and rescue through the state level.”

The group is urging anyone near the McKenzie River to stay alert and to report anything suspicious that could help bring these families answers.

Michael Bryson wandered away from a party in 2020. He hasn't been heard from since

Michael Bryson was 27 when he went missing Aug. 5, 2020, during a party at Hobo Campground in the Umpqua National Forest near Dorena, Oregon.

Five years have passed, and his parents, Tina and Parrish Bryson, are still searching for answers.

"We're not at peace with what happened to Michael. We're not at peace with bringing Michael home, but we're at peace knowing Michael's not suffering and he's OK," Tina Bryson said.

His parents are convinced someone murdered their son, though police have found no evidence of it so far.

Lane County Sheriff's Office Detective Joshua Conway said investigators haven't ruled out foul play.

"If this does happen to be a criminal investigation, there is some stuff we can't disclose," Conway said. "By all means, if we believe there is a criminal component to it, we will absolutely see that through to the very end."

Conway is the third detective in the last five years to lead the investigation into Michael's disappearance. The case, which was assigned to him in March 2025, remains open and active. He said he receives new tips regularly and is still investigating leads from a search and rescue and criminal investigation standpoint.

“Michael Bryson was a person. He was Tina and Parrish’s son. He was a friend to many. The fact that it’s been five years and they don’t have any answers regarding their son is heartbreaking and it’s my case now and I’ll speak for the sheriff’s office when I say we will not stop looking for him until he’s located and brought back home to them," Conway said.

Both of Michael's parents continue to cope with the grief of losing their son and not knowing what happened to him.

"All I want right now is Michael home. I want to bring Michael home for mom, for me, for Krista and his friends," Parrish Bryson said. "We don’t have a body. We don’t have closure. We don’t know what happened to Michael or where Michael is at."

"If the evil of this world thought that they were snuffing out Michael's flame, boy, did they get it wrong," Parrish Bryson said. "They have ignited a flame in Michael and his story, and it will burn forever."
