California authorities launch search for girl who hasn’t been seen in at least 1 year​

Authorities in Santa Barbara County launched a search for a 9-year-old girl who has not been seen in a year, and who has not been seen in a photograph in two.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office began searching for Melodee Buzzard on Tuesday after a school administrator reported she hadn’t been at school in quite some time.

Deputies attempted to contact Melodee and her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, at their home in Lompoc, but the elementary school student was not there, and “no clear explanation was provided for her whereabouts.”

Although the missing persons case is only one-day-old, detectives have been unable to confirm a single recent sighting in about a year. The most recent photograph they were able to locate was taken at least two years ago, officials said.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about Melodee, potential sightings or contact in the past year, to come forward.

“Even small details may be critical in helping investigators ensure her safety,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote in a news release.

That’s all fine and dandy, but I’m wanting some action so she is forced to say what happened to Melodee. Melodee is a child out there alone somewhere! The sense of urgency should be much higher, in my opinion.

I completely agree. The good old days of forced confessions. This is a good argument. It's really infuriating. The rights of the perpetrator are more important than the victims, and everyone else's involved. That is so wrong. Especially a child.

Maybe they are really on it and we just don't know, but it sure does NOT seem that way. I don't think anything will make her tell. Ever. Assuming Tyler was telling the truth (hard to know with him sometimes but I think he was as he's been caught in his lies) she gave him the keys and would go to jail and lose her home before telling it seems. That scares me more than anything so far and leads me to think she might be dead. I've really resisted thinking that in this case. For some reason. In others I don't, one just knows. In this one, I do.

Lori couldn't tell where her kids were because they were dead. I hope it's not the same here but that would be the common reason they won't tell...

I don’t think she had her the entire nine years. I think Melodee was with other family members for a period of time. They haven’t really specified how long, though.

I don't think so but hard to say. The only thing they can really name is the one time and it doesn't seem anyone had her for very long or how that ended up. The fact they don't say it makes me think it wasn't long. You mean his family right? I don't think anyone else has had "custody" for any length of time, just a short period one time and that's vague. We also know dad died when she was an infant and MB had her. Her own mom talked of how bad her house was one time but MB had her. She never talks of taking her or calling it in.

I too believe they should be allowed to do more in some cases to get info. However if they did, the perp would holler later that they were forced or it was a false confession. There may be some cases of that but it certainly isn't true of everyone.

Like Daniels. I think it's the only, and last thing they can control. Unless they will benefit in some way. They will not give the information. LE knows this, and usually has to come to a deal. They deserve NOTHING!!!

Once in awhile if I go to the Daybell thread, depending on how one goes, you often land on the first page. Even without that I recall how we all were hopeful at first and as things evolved is like WOW. Little did we know what was to come. Most all were hopeful. I've often thought I should go back and read just the first 100 pages or dozen but I recall it so I haven't but it would be interesting... I really thought Yellowstone played in , I think many did. I still do actually, but just in a way.

She also claimed they were with her friend, and I think Alex said JJ was with grandma, etc...

Anyhow yeah, this mom's refusal to tell is very worrisome. Did you catch up on most of this story?

He was taking questions from viewers and someone asked him about getting AB arrested on IF she is still getting an SS check for MB for the loss of her father. It was a good question and they should pursue that if she is taking the money no?

She isn't dumb though and maybe she isn't taking it but she almost has to be doesn't she? How would she stop automatic payments other than to tell SS MB is dead? This part is my thought.

Yep. And if she did stop the payment somehow, we will see her broke pretty soon imo but I doubt she's stopped them some way.

SS should be able to require proof of life imo as payts would cease upon death... LE should explore that...

YES, LE GET ON IT!!! She is refusing to prove her child's safe whereabouts so DO SOMETHING. It may not work but at least she'd not have her freedom when she is blatantly ignoring and refusing to prove the safety of her child! This woman should NOT have her freedom at this point IMO.

And then why, if someone else has her. Are they not receiving her benefits for her care?. She hasn't led anyone to where she is. I believe all of this points to a very bad conclusion.

This has gotten WAY too quiet. Other cases have more news and this one is starting to slide as far as attention. I tell myself we have seen it many a time where we think LE are doing nothing when they actually are... I sure HOPE they are. They certainly are not coming down on her, however, and I think it is time they do, just based on what we know of course, unless they think they can find her or have some good leads or KNOW. If they don't then it's time to get after her, beyond time. Imo.

Yeah. I don't understand that AT ALL!!! You don't produce the location of the person in question. You stay locked up! WTH IS THIS?! Some can't handle it, and they will finally talk.

Good Lord, I am so upset with this case. Also it has went silent as far as coverage as there is never ANY NEWS on it any longer. I will take it back if we find out later they were hard at work and getting things done on this!

Time to put her as* in JAIL!
