Cudahy police are looking for 6-year-old Madelyn Chitwood, who her family last saw at bedtime Thursday, June 8.

Madelyn's sister alerted her mom that Madelyn was not in her room or anywhere in the house. According to police, it is unknown what time she left or where she would have gone.

FBI, local police departments investigate missing 6-year-old girl last seen in her Cudahy home​

A missing endangered person alert has been issued for 6-year-old Madelyn Chitwood. She was last seen in her home a little after 9 p.m. Thursday.

Cudahy Police say police were contacted after Chitwood's sister noticed she wasn't in her room or anywhere in the home.

On 06/09/2023 at 09:04 hours, the Cudahy Police Department received a call about a missing juvenile. Madelyn was last seen by her family at bed time last night (06/08/2023) wearing only her underwear. Madelyn's mom was alerted by her other daughter that Madelyn was not in her room or anywhere in the residence. It is unknown what time she left or where she would have gone.

1. Last seen the night before.
2. Not noticed missing until 9 am.
3. Sister was the one who noticed she was gone.

Does she have a history of disappearing / running off? Has she ever left the house on her own before? Any custody issues or other adults she may be with?

CUDAHY, Wis. — A 6-year-old girl who went missing from her Cudahy home Thursday has been found safe, the Coast Guard confirmed with TMJ4 News.

The FBI confirmed it took part in the investigation into her disappearance, alongside local police departments. A K9 Unit also responded to search the area.

She was found a little before 1 p.m. Friday.

Looks like Cudahy is right on Lake Michigan.

Kudos to law enforcement in this city. They sure mobilized a lot of resources for this child in a short amount of time.

That she is safe is awesome news. That she could have been at a neighbor's or left home at that hour and the neighbor not wondered, etc. is concerning... AND never found until the next day. WHO is the neighbor? A man? A woman? A couple? Did she go to play with ah friend that age?

What kind of neighbor or person has a six year old come to their home BY HERSELF at night and not realize this is not what people do, paernts don't send them over out of the blue with no plans alone at night.

Something still wrong here.

But thank goodness she is safe.
