Detroit police want help finding missing 17-year-old girl

Police are seeking information about a 17-year-old girl who went missing in Inkster.

London Thomas left her residence Saturday (April 5) on Margareta and Five Points streets and hasn’t been seen since.

Thomas was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black leggings, and pink ‘Crocs’.

“She calls me for everything, and I haven’t heard from her, and I know something is not right,” said Thomas’ father, Cedric Salisbury.

Salisbury said her sister dropped her off at her boyfriend’s house on April 5 in Inkster, and that was the last time she was seen.

Friends and family are organizing a search party at noon on Saturday at Cooper Upper Elementary School.

The community is invited to join the search efforts.

Detroit mother speaks out after 17-year-old daughter's disappearance: "I don't understand"

Police in Detroit and Inkster say they are searching for 17-year-old London Thomas, who was last seen on April 5.

According to Detroit police, the teen was reported missing on April 8 from Margareta and Five Points streets. Police say London left her home and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black leggings and pink Crocs shoes.

"I wouldn't wish this. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy," London's mother, Jasma Bennett, told CBS News Detroit.

Bennett says she last saw her daughter around midnight on April 5. The teen went to an older sibling's house before the sister reportedly took her to a home in Inkster.

Inkster police say London was dropped off in the 27000 block of Carlysle Street near Inkster Road. At about 10 a.m. on April 6, her phone pinged in Westland, prompting her family to contact law enforcement, including Detroit.

Her family says they've been searching for her. They say she has a boyfriend, but there are no leads to her whereabouts.

"Nobody has accused anybody of anything. Not our family. We just want her home," said London's stepfather, Darnell Johnson. "If anybody's pointing fingers, it's people online. It's not our family."

Her family says she turns 18 in a few weeks. They say multiple agencies, including the FBI, are investigating the case.

"Still don't know why this is happening to us. I don't understand," Bennett said. "It's been a lot for us all."

"It's been a nightmare," said Johnson.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information on the teen's disappearance. Anyone with information can submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at www.1800speakup.org or call 800-Speak Up.

FBI search home of missing Inkster teen's boyfriend, search continues

Law enforcement have searched the home of a missing teen's boyfriend's house.

17-year-old London Thomas has been missing since April 5.

She was last seen when her sister dropped London off to meet her 23-year-old boyfriend at a house on Carlysle Street in Inkster.

The FBI and crime scene investigators suited up and worked the Inkster home of the 23-year-old boyfriend of 17-year-old Thomas on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the mother, Jasma Bennett, says her latest update from the police was that they raided the suspected house but found nothing.

Missing London Thomas: FBI searches boyfriend's Inkster home

The FBI and police spent time Thursday searching the Inkster home of missing London Thomas' boyfriend.

Thomas, 17, has been missing for nearly two weeks. She was last seen being dropped off to visit with her 23-year-old boyfriend.

Thomas' sister dropped her off at the house on Carlysle in Inkster on April 5. Since then, no one has heard from the teen.

Thursday's search was the second time police have spent time in the area where Thomas was last seen, as they continue to look for answers.

"They raided the house, his house, and nothing was found. That was really, truly the last piece of real information I received," her mother, Jasma Bennett, said.

Police confirmed that no arrests were made.

"Terror, just a horrible, horrible nightmare," Bennett said.

In addition to authorities searching near the boyfriend's home in Inkster, community members spent time looking around Cooper Upper Elementary in Westland because Thomas' cell phone last pinged. However, nothing was found there, either.

‘All will be forgiven’: Tearful mother of missing 17-year-old from Inkster sends heartfelt message

The search for 17-year-old London Thomas continues as her mother and stepfather shared updates on the investigation surrounding her disappearance.

Thomas disappeared almost two weeks ago. She was last seen on Saturday (April 5), when, according to her family, she was dropped off at her 23-year-old boyfriend’s house in Inkster, which was raided on April 17.

“The updates officially have been just that they are going inside the home during the raid to collect more evidence,” said Thomas’ mother, Jasma Bennett. “Coming from some electronic evidence that they have received, I’m not for certain if it was text messages or calls, but that’s the last update really for today.”

When asked what message she wanted to convey to the community regarding her missing daughter, Bennett urged, “Stick together in truth and do not be led astray. You know, because that’s what can happen. There will be people that will try to take advantage of you. Just keep going. Keep going, keep going. And be as strong as you can surround those that only make you strong.”

Thomas’s stepfather, Darnell Johnson, also spoke out Thursday night, saying, “If you see her, please call 911. Please do not try to be a hero. Do not try to take the law into your own hands. Please call 911, even if you have to slow back and follow until the police catch up. Do not take the law into your own hands.”

Bennett expressed her deep concern for her daughter, saying, “I want my baby home safe, alive, and well. You can’t do this alone. I’m just so grateful. I’m just so grateful.”

She said she was grateful for the community that came out during the search in the area where her 17-year-old daughter’s phone last pinged.

“I’m grateful for the community that came out, friends, family, people on Facebook, friends of friends, friends of family. People I’ve never even known. I don’t even have a social media presence, so it just took me by surprise when everybody came together. It was heartwarming, and it was a blessing.”

When asked about the circumstances of Thomas’s disappearance, both Johnson and Bennett confirmed that she was dropped off at her boyfriend’s house prior to going missing.

They also mentioned having her older daughter’s cell phone information, verifying that Thomas was taken to that address.

Bennett shared details about the ongoing investigation.

“In regards to information, I know that today, they (boyfriend’s home) were raided by the FBI and ATF, and Inkster police, possibly Detroit police.

I would just say, just be strong, try to be as patient as possible, and pray because we can’t know everything. We want to do as much as we can, but we can’t.

It’s like we either go in a route that they’ll be looking for us next, or we stay strong and continue to wait and do things the right way.

And I think that’s what’s gotten us this far: we’re working together, knowing what we all can do and can contribute to bring her home. No matter what.”

Bennett sent out a personal message to Thomas as she held back tears.

“London, I don’t care what it is; you will be home with me. All will be forgiven. It can all be healed. I just want her home as soon as possible,” Bennett said.

The Detroit Police Department, with assistance from our federal partners, is conducting a second search at a residence in Inkster related to the missing person case of London Thomas.

Throughout this investigation, DPD has searched numerous locations as part of our continued efforts. At this time, we are unable to provide further details as the investigation is ongoing.

I can confirm that the FBI was present in Inkster, Michigan conducting law enforcement activities; however, this does not indicate we have opened an investigation."

Why do you go to your sister's at midnight to be able to go see your bf? Was she forbidden from seeing him or was there a fuss as he was an adult and her 17?
The mom says to her "all will be forgiven". Does she think she left on her own or were they on the bf or something?
It is mentioned she is 17 but will soon be 18.

I'm all for her being found safe and both parents seem very concerned and I pray she is and that nothing more is up.

I am pointing out though a couple of odd things here when I just read it all. And it is concerning if the police "raided" his house and seem to think something bad happened.

No opinion really, just mentioning things noted on a first read through.

Missing teen London Thomas' boyfriend officially considered person of interest

On Friday, 7 News Detroit stopped by the Inkster home raided by police and the FBI on Thursday. Authorities zeroed in on the property as they investigate the disappearance of 17-year-old London Thomas.

During our door knock on Friday, a woman opened the door and said they're not talking. She closed the door before I could get in another word.

Inkster Police Chief Tamika Jenkins told 7 News Detroit that Thomas' 23-year-old boyfriend, who lives at the home with other family members, is now considered a person of interest.

His neighbor, Jasmynne Allen said "he weird. He’s weird.

When asked in what way, she said "he’s just strange.”

Jenkins said investigators searched for DNA evidence after receiving “concerning information they found during phone extractions."

She said Thomas was last seen in Inkster on April 5. Her phone pinged in Westland near Cooper Upper Elementary on Ann Arbor Trail.

But the chief said it last pinged in Detroit and the Detroit Police Department is the lead agency.

7 News Detroit has been in touch Thomas' family. Her father said loved ones are, of course, waiting for updates from police.

2 suspects in custody after missing Detroit teen London Thomas found dead, police say

Two suspects in the disappearance of a Detroit teen who had been missing for weeks before she was found dead are in custody, according to Michigan State Police.

London Thomas, 17, was last seen on April 5 when she was dropped off at her boyfriend’s house on Carlysle Street in Inkster. She was found dead on Saturday, April 26, in Southfield after weeks of searching.

Michigan State Police is the lead agency in the investigation. Police said they have two suspects in custody who are “believed to be involved in her disappearance.”

Police have not released information on what circumstances led to her death. Once the investigation is complete, it will be given to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office to review.

“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of London,” said Michigan State Police F/Lt. Mike Shaw. “While a majority of the investigation has been completed by DPD and the FBI, there is still work to do. Our number one goal is to bring justice for London and her family. In order to accomplish this goal, we will not be releasing any further information on this investigation at this time.”

Well just an educated bet/guess is the bf is involved. Could be right, could be wrong, just seems likely. Not accusing. Just see it all too often don't we...

Mother of dead Inkster teen London Thomas: 'Like living the worst movie you can imagine'

The body of 17-year-old London Thomas was discovered over the weekend after she had gone missing for three weeks.

Now her grieving mother is trying to process the unimaginable after her body was found in Southfield Saturday night.

"It’s like living in the worst movie you can ever imagine over and over again, and it never ends," said Jasma Bennett.

The teen was last seen alive in Inkster on April 5th. The FBI, local police and community members spent weeks searching for some sign of her.

"When they came and told us it was like my heart stopped," said Darnell Johnson, her stepfather. "I wouldn’t wish this on anybody - this is crazy."

On Sunday, Michigan State Police confirmed London Thomas’ body was recovered Saturday night.

Two suspects are in custody in connection with the case, but investigators aren’t saying who they are or exactly how they’re connected to her.

"Seventeen years old - you just take somebody’s life," said Johnson. "It’s not right - it’s not real."

"There’s no manual for this - (there's) no manual to be a parent - (there's) no manual to bury your child," Bennett said. "(There’s) no manual - (I'm) doing the best that I can with the help of God."

Another one I guess we have to wait to shake out and see what comes...

I'd agree there is no manual.

You know, not sure it is right or wrong, but back when SOME stayed together for the sake of the kids if you could make it work. Heck I'm not judging as I never found a soul that could myself but there sure are a lot of different last names here.

Again, not judging, I have absolutely no reason or right to, and it is true that parenting does not come with a manual, but kids face and deal with worse and worse things these days.... Parents often just try to figure out as they go along. I mean maybe perhaps there are ones that know, but generally no one has any idea what it is to have a teenager in a different world than they grew up in. Parents have to be more with it and stay up with things than ever before. Imo.

Just going to see what comes from this. No real opinion yet other than the last seen or dropped at the "bf" home, etc.

Sadder then heck. Just 17. Another child.
