Oklahoma woman arrested for allegedly giving daughter away during drug deal

An Oklahoma woman was arrested after allegedly giving her 2-year-old child to a man selling her drugs.

That child hasn't been seen in more than two years.

The Moore Police Department arrested 39-year-old Ashley Rowland last week after she admitted to giving the child to a man who she was buying meth from. Police are investigating every lead to help find the little girl.

In April 2023, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services was asked to pick up the little girl, but she couldn't be found, according to an affidavit.

DHS got in contact with Rowland at a house in Moore. That's when the mother claimed the child was "with her father in Georgia."

The department found out that she wasn't telling the truth.

Rowland was interviewed by police, admitting that she gave the child to a man named "Carlos," and that she hadn't seen him or the girl since April 2022. She told investigators that "Carlos" could be the child's father, but she wasn't sure.

She said she doesn't know his last name or have any identifiable features for police to find him, but that he was going to Mexico.

People living near the home where Rowland was arrested said they see children in the yard occasionally, but they don't really know her or the family.

KOCO 5 reached out to DHS about the case. They said they can't comment on the investigation, but the situation is "heartbreaking and unimaginable," and they are grateful for those working to find her.

The little girl would now be 5 years old, according to an affidavit. Moore police said they weren't yet able to release the child's name or a photo to help search for her.

Oklahoma mom accused of giving daughter away released on $3,000 bond

An Oklahoma mom was let out on bond after she allegedly gave her 2-year-old daughter to a man selling her drugs.

That little girl has been missing for two years.

Ashley Rowland, 39, was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a $3,000 bond. A judge was in the process of raising that bond to $100,000, but she was let out before that paperwork was processed.

KOCO 5 reached out to the judge. His office said the paperwork wasn't complete in time, and an arrest warrant will be issued for Rowland.

Rowland would have to be taken back into custody then post that higher bond he ordered.

Child advocates said she shouldn't have been booked on that low of a bond in the first place.

"Far too many of these kids fall through the cracks," Joe Dorman, CEO of Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy, said. "They need to do what they can to make sure that she is detained and assisting in trying to locate this child."

Rowland told police she hasn't seen her daughter since April 2022, and that she gave the child to a man named "Carlos," who may be in Mexico, according to court documents.

"After two years, you just don't know. The fact this went unreported – where were family members? Where were neighbors?" Dorman said. "Anybody who suspected this child was in danger, by law, was supposed to pick up the phone and make that call."

KOCO 5 has asked for the name of the child, a picture or something that could help find her. Police said they aren't releasing that.

I'm kind of wondering how long he ordered the raise was to the time she was released. How long did it take this paperwork to be completed and/or did somebody drop the ball (besides making the original bail so low).

Moore Police enlist OSBI's aid in search for missing 5-year-old London Kerr
The Moore Police Department (MPD) has called the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to help with a missing person case involving 5-year-old London Kerr.

London is the daughter of Ashley Rowland, who was arrested in October for child desertion.

Since Rowland's arrest, MPD officers and detectives reportedly have been searching multiple properties, storage units, and electronic devices regarding London's birth certificates, social security information, clothing, toys, or anything that could lead to identifying London or her whereabouts.

Investigators said they have not found any records. They said they only found one picture of the child when she was around 1 or 2 years old.

Unfortunately, London is still missing, and this case remains an ongoing investigation. The Moore Police Department has done everything in its power to locate London within our jurisdiction. - Moore Police Department

Rowland is currently out of jail after posting bond.

MPD said more charges will be filed related to the London's disappearance.

Police continue searching for child allegedly given away by mother in 2022 drug deal: Reports

Police in Oklahoma are searching for a child who vanished three years ago after her mother allegedly gave her to a man selling her drugs, according to reports.

The Moore Police Department has been investigating the disappearance of London Kerr, who has reportedly been missing since she was 2 years old. The child would be 5 years old right now.

Moore police said investigators have been searching for clues to track Kerr down.

"Since Rowland's arrest, Moore Police and Detectives have searched multiple properties, storage units, and electronic devices regarding London's birth certificates, social security information, clothing, toys, or anything that could lead to identifying London or her whereabouts," the department said in a press release.

Despite their efforts, they have only been able to obtain photos of her. The department has formally tapped the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to help them with this case.

"The Moore Police Department has done everything in its power to locate London within our jurisdiction and plans to file additional charges related to the disappearance of London Kerr," the department explained.

On Wednesday, a spokesperson told USA TODAY that Kerr has been added to the National Crime Information Center(NCIC).

Search continues for missing child, two arrested, police say

On Wednesday, the Oklahoma City Police Department confirmed two people have been arrested regarding a missing and endangered five-year old who was last seen April 2022.

Officials say the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) discovered a five-year-old named London Kerr missing from an apartment complex in Southeast Oklahoma City.

Police say the child’s primary caregivers, 39-year-old Ashley Rowland and 40-year-old Joshua Denton are in custody on complaints related to child physical and sexual abuse.

Police say the child’s primary caregivers, 39-year-old Ashley Rowland and 40-year-old Joshua Denton are in custody on complaints related to child physical and sexual abuse.

“There’s lack of merit, some of the stories that haven’t panned out by those who we believe may have some more information than what they’re coming forward with, so all of that makes it quite a complex case,” said Sgt. Dillion Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.

New court documents also share that Rowland and Denton were in a relationship. Denton has been accused of abusing London in the past.

Those allegations include pouring hot sauce into her eyes and shooting her with a BB gun.

Police say there is still a lot to be uncovered.

“Obviously, children are some of the most vulnerable members of our society, so we want to figure out where she is and bring her home safe,” said Quirk.

Court documents detail horrific abuse of missing child, say caregiver put hot sauce in her eyes

Initially, Moore police believed that London's mother, 39-year-old Ashley Rowland, had given the child away to someone selling meth to her. She told police the man's name was "Carlos," and he could have been Kerr's father.

Now, Oklahoma City police report that Rowland and another primary caregiver, 40-year-old Joshua Denton, have been arrested on charges of physical and sexual child abuse, and neither is providing information to help locate London.

Court documents reveal Denton is accused of horrific abuse against Kerr and her siblings over the court of several years. The man allegedly put hot sauce in Kerr's eyes, as well as other incidents that KOCO 5 has chosen not to report due to their violent nature.

The department stated that significant work remains to be done in the investigation.

"When we take over an investigation we have to go back and look at what's already been documented and go from there, time is of the essence still hoping for a positive turnout in this case and we don't have a lot to go off of right now which makes it extremely difficult,” said Dillon Quirk, public information officer for the Oklahoma City Police Department.

‘Time is of the essence’: Caregiver allegedly used wooden paddle, BB gun to abuse missing child

Police in Oklahoma City have assumed control of an investigation into the disappearance of a 5-year-old who has been missing for more than three years.

“We don’t have very credible information from the people that assumed responsibility or had custody of this child, so when we take over an investigation, we have to go back and look at what has already been documented,” Oklahoma City Police Sergeant Dillon Quirk said. “So, time is of the essence.”

London Kerr’s Disappearance: A timeline of the search for the child missing since 2022

April 2022London Kerr, 2 years old, was last seen.

March 8, 2023 – A DHS pickup order for London was issued in Oklahoma County.

October 22, 2024 – Moore Police attempted to serve the pickup order at 1337 Regency Blvd. According to court documents, London's mother, Ashley Rowland, falsely claimed London was with her father in Georgia. Investigators determined this was not true. Neighbors said they hadn't seen London in 2–3 years.

October 23, 2024 – Ashley Rowland and Joshua Denton were located at an Oklahoma City motel without London. Both claimed that shortly after Christmas 2022, Rowland had given the child to a man known only as “Carlos,” who had previously sold her meth. They alleged Carlos later returned to Mexico. However, authorities say they were unable to verify any part of their story, and no credible individual named “Carlos” matching the description provided by Ashley Rowland has been found.

October 30, 2024 – Ashley Rowland was arrested for Child Abandonment.

November 5, 2024 – After learning Ashley Rowland had other children, two teenage sons were interviewed. They reported Joshua Denton abused London—hitting her with a paddle and shooting her with a BB gun. They also said Denton abused them, while Rowland did nothing.
  1. A BB gun and wooden paddle were recovered from a storage unit linked to Rowland and Denton.
  2. The boys also reported witnessing Rowland and Denton smoking meth and using other drugs.
March 27, 2025 – Denton's two elementary aged children confirmed further abuse, including Denton pouring hot sauce in London’s eyes, locking her in a closet, and forcing her to eat hot peppers.

August 5, 2025 – Ashley Rowland and Joshua Denton are arrested. Rowland is charged with engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses and two counts of enabling child abuse. Denton faces multiple charges including six counts of child abuse. He's also charged with sexual abuse against a child that is not London. Both remain behind bars in the Cleveland County Detention Center.

September 9, 2025, at 10 a.m. – Both are scheduled to appear in Cleveland County Court for a preliminary hearing.

Anyone with information about London’s disappearance is urged to contact the Oklahoma City Police Department’s homicide tip line at 405-297-1200.
