Missouri deputies search for missing married couple Leo and Katherine Lindeman near Anderson

Investigators are searching for a married couple who are missing from rural southwest Missouri.

Leo and Katherine Lindeman were last in contact with someone on Sept. 16, 2026, near Anderson, Missouri, according to the McDonald County Sheriff's Office. They were reported missing Sept. 24, 2026.

Leo Lindeman, 73, is 5'7" and weighs 145 pounds. Katherine Lindeman, 74, is 5'2" and weighs 150 pounds.

A small dog owned by Leo and Katherine is also missing.

McDonald County Sheriff Rob Evenson says a neighbor became concerned after checking on the couple and finding their home empty.

The neighbor called 911, prompting deputies to conduct a preliminary search of the property.

Evenson says investigators later obtained a search warrant for the home and conducted a more extensive search.

About 20 dog search teams searched the Lindemans’ property and adjacent areas, looking for evidence of a struggle, forced entry or other signs that something may have happened to the couple.

Investigators did not find anything unusual.

“It looks as if they just left,” Evenson said. “We’re still hopeful. There’s no concrete evidence that something bad happened to them.”

Investigators also found the couple’s vehicle and their only known cell phone still at the home.

The sheriff says the couple’s front door and windows were open when investigators arrived, but that was not necessarily unusual.

“These folks didn't have air conditioning, so apparently it was not out of character for them,” Evenson said. “That’s what they did to ventilate the home.”

Investigators are continuing to examine evidence from inside the home, including the phone and a computer. They are also reviewing financial records and bank accounts as they try to determine what happened to the couple.

Evenson says leaving the property on foot would have been difficult because of the terrain.

“I wouldn't leave on foot,” he said. “It's very rough. Heavily wooded, with very steep hollows.”

Missing married couple who vanished without a trace found dead as cops swarm neighboring property

The search for a missing elderly couple has come to a tragic conclusion with the discovery of two bodies on a nearby property.

Authorities spent more than a month scouring the area for any signs of the couple, with police returning multiple times to the couple's home.

Their bodies were finally found on Sunday on a neighbor's property 'about 400 to 500 yards from the Lindeman's home,' McDonald County Sheriff Rob Evenson told KNWA, though he said their poodle has yet to be located.

Numerous deputies and detectives were then seen swarming a private property on Beehive Lane, according to KOAM.

It now remains unclear how the couple may have died.

Preliminary reports indicate bodies of Lindemans found in McDonald County

Preliminary reports from McDonald County indicate that the bodies of a couple missing since mid-September have been found on a property adjacent to theirs in McDonald County.

Law enforcement were seen in the area today and a source close to the investigation indicated that the bodies were found.

I just saw one of these report reports on Facebook and came running over!

I want to know which Neighbor’s property! And how far onto it were they?

Either the searches were not thorough or they were concealed is how i see it. 400-500 yards away, cadaver dogs that are properly trained should have picked up the scent. I will also say that the terrain there is not conducive to being able to search every single square inch.

It is said that she walked with a cane, so I'm not seeing her being able to traverse the terrain on her own there.

I never saw the report of her walking with a cane. Yeah that doesn’t sound right.

Have you seen where the dog has been mentioned? If the dog is deceased near them, then I think it sounds hinky.

sounds like the dog WAS found!

My first thought was what I'm seeing others writing online, and that's a murder/s**cide scenario.

All is pure speculation until we hear more from LE, and I'm also reading that might take a couple of weeks!
