Cape Coral Police need help locating missing woman

Lauren Brittney Dumolo, 30, was last seen on June 19th, 2020, at 4927 Coronado Parkway Apartment #1, and she was reported missing on June 21st.

Police say her purse had been located by a citizen at Four Freedoms Park (4818 Tarpon Court) on June 19th, a place she often visited.

Her cell phone was also located in her apartment.

Lauren's status as a missing person was changed to a missing person endangered on June 24th as a result of the investigation.

Lauren is a frequent walker in the area and does not own a car.

Police work to trace Cape Coral woman’s suspicious disappearance

Investigators are working to trace the steps of a young mother who seemed to vanish into thin air.

Nobody has seen 29-year-old Lauren Dumolo in 11 days Tuesday. Cape Coral Police Department considers her disappearance suspicious. Her purse was found at park she frequented, and her cell phone was found by police at her home.

With the help of our Safety & Security Specialist, we looked at her disappearance as police would.

That started with a conversation with her father. Lauren’s dad, Paul Dumolo flew into Southwest Florida from California once his daughter went missing. He says his daughter’s disappearance is out of character.

“Gut feeling as a father, that’s not my daughter,” Paul said. “She would’ve at least called somebody and she would’ve answered my texts.”

Paul admits his daughter’s gone through some tough times but has been on the straight and narrow since she lost custody of her child two years ago. Lauren has a young daughter of 5 years old, who lives up north with her paternal grandmother.

“She didn’t want that for her life anymore,” Paul said. “No matter what it was, she always knew she could reach out to me.”

So, when Paul’s daughter didn’t call him on Father’s Day, he knew something was wrong.

“I can’t cry, man. I gotta stay strong because I gotta find my daughter,” Paul said.

June 19, Lauren’s live-in boyfriend was reportedly the last person to see her. That same day, her purse was found at Four Freedoms Park.

“It’s like she fell off the face of the earth,” said. Boom. Gone. “

We saw police canvassing the area and passing out fliers.

A man we saw talking to police didn’t want to be interviewed on the record but told us that he saw Lauren June 19 around 8 a.m. and waved at her.

He said, the day before, Lauren asked him about available apartments, saying she “wanted to get out of the situation she was in.”

“It signals to me that she’s scared of this man,” Paul said. “I have no choice but to think the worst right now.”

CCPD told us the reason they elevated Lauren’s case to endangered is because, when someone disappears voluntarily, they take their belongings, a wallet, a phone. In this case, she did not.

New details on Lauren Dumolo's mental state before disappearance; community organizes search party

New information has been released on the Lauren Dumolo case. The case is once again gaining national attention and was recently featured on the Dr. Phil Show.

Investigators said Lauren Dumolo spent most of her free time at Four Freedoms Park in Cape Coral. There are missing person signs all around the park and the community has organized a search party in an effort to find Lauren.

“She is so loving, caring, so bubbly and happy all the time. She is just a sweetheart," friend Angela Stallkamp said.

New information - multiple leads - is what Trish Routte with SWFL Crime Stoppers said the organization has received ever since Dumolo's case aired on a national talk show.

"So, the goal and hope that people that saw that will share that information with us," Routte said.

Routte said the show revealed that Dumolo was previously baker acted - meaning she was held by mental health professionals for up to 72 hours - twice in June of 2020.
It happened right before she went missing.

"The mental health aspect really hadn’t been talked about until now. Everything that was happening in Lauren’s life in the weeks before she went missing is information that we need to explore to the very depths," Routte said.

Routte said because Dumolo spent a lot of time at Four Freedoms Park, they're asking for anyone who saw her there to contact law enforcement. With the new information, Routte said this could help investigators solve the case.

“Now we are going to the next level and saying here is what we know what was going on in Lauren’s life in the few weeks before she went missing. That may or may not have had anything to do with her disappearance but we have to explore every aspect," Routte said.

Lauren Dumolo’s Father’s Day disappearance still haunts dad 2 years later

While Father’s Day is a time to celebrate for many, for Paul Dumolo it’s a day of pain and sorrow.

Two years ago, Paul knew something was wrong when his daughter didn’t call him. He reported his daughter, Lauren Dumolo, a Southwest Florida mom missing.

Paul is not looking forward to Father’s Day because it’s just another reminder Lauren is missing.

Paul said, “I want her home safe. I want to hold her. I want to hug her.”

Now, two years later, Lauren is still missing, and Paul is becoming convinced that he’ll never get to hold her or hug her again.

“I would like to be able to give her the proper burial she deserves that,” said Paul. “And my family and our family deserve that, you know, somewhere we can, you know, go to visit and pay our respects. You know, she not a piece of garbage when you just dumped somebody and then you know, that’s it gone.”

I will never understand why some cases take off with intense interest and others don't. Her father has been very involved from the start and tried to get attention on this and help and it gets some here and there but nothing like some cases. Part of it is I guess there is no police anything, progress, remarks, etc., just so quiet.

I hope he does know she is on the radar of many. I know of the case when I see it and can't imagine how helpless he feels or what one can do about it.

He talks more often about a high-profile case of another Cape Coral woman, Lauren Dumolo. She hasn’t been seen since June of 2020.

Wilson claims it’s all part of a conspiracy being covered up, one that he’s trying to expose.

He said he was recruited from Key West to be part of a crime organization in Lee County.

“A lot of things we were doing from Key West to Fort Myers including the human trafficking and various other things: prostitution with the women, drug trafficking,” Wilson said.

Wilson said some of the prostitution was happening at a local spa and he claims he can prove there was nefarious activity happening there.

“Cell phone records will show, text messages will prove and these are things that my lawyers already have,” Wilson said.

When Galer called Wilson’s lawyer, he wouldn’t answer any questions.

NBC2 is not sharing the name or location of the spa. Wilson claims Dumolo has ties there. He also said high-profile people used the spa and some of the people involved in the alleged crime ring are testifying against him in his murder trial.

“I am the loose end that is so easily just x-ed out,” Wilson said.

Wilson admits he is trying to save his life. But it will be up to a jury to figure out fact from fiction.

“Are you just trying to discredit the people who are testifying against you at trial?” Galer asked.

“Absolutely not, no. I’m just trying to tell the truth,” Wilson said.

Overall, it appeared Wilson is trying to bring up these topics to save his own skin.

He mentioned former Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott a number of times and claimed he was part of certain cover-ups. Scott told Galer over the phone that Wilson’s allegations are outlandish and not true.

As for the alleged crime ring, Fort Myers Police told NBC2 they haven’t found anything regarding human trafficking.

Officer Brandon Sancho with Cape Coral Police (CCPD) said the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the State Attorney’s Office are aware of Wilson’s claims, but CCPD is not looking into it because it didn’t happen within their jurisdiction.

A spokesperson with LCSO said they couldn’t answer NBC2’s questions.

As far as Wilson’s claims about Lauren Dumolo, Officer Sancho said they don’t think there’s any connection between the two because Wilson was incarcerated before Dumolo disappeared.

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — It has been three years since Lauren Dumolo went missing from her apartment on Coronado Parkway in Cape Coral.

Through the years many teams have looked for evidence at several locations in Cape Coral but very little has been found.

The police say Dumolo was 29 years old when she disappeared and was last seen at her apartment.

According to the police her cell phone was still in the apartment which her family says is a sign she left suddenly, and possibly against her will.

Police also say Dumolo's purse was found at Four Freedoms Park which is less than half a mile away from where she lived. Her purse was found the same day she went missing.

If anyone has information they are asked to call the Cape Coral Police or Crimestoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.

‘It’s a nightmare:’ 4th year of Lauren Dumolo’s disappearance

June 19, 2020 was the last day anyone saw 29-year-old Lauren Dumolo.

It’s been an agonizing three and a half years for Lauren’s dad, Paul Dumolo.

“It’s a nightmare, it really is. It never ends. Your child is not supposed to go before you. It’s not the right order,” said Paul.

For a long time, Dumolo’s father kept in touch with Cape Coral police for updates on the investigation. The updates have lessened.

“Last thing I heard from the police was basically the case is cold,” he said.

Paul Dumolo’s wish for 2024 is answers to end his suffering and possibly an arrest.

“This is something no parent should have to deal with and go through. There is no closure. There’s never going to. It will never be an end for me until she’s either found or I’m dead,” said Paul Dumolo.

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers has increased the reward from $3,000 to $5,000 for any information that leads to the resolution of unsolved cold cases in the region.

There have been roughly 400 unsolved cold cases in Southwest Florida.

Sometimes years, even decades have passed in these cases, and Crime Stoppers believes they can still be solved.

All tips to Crime Stoppers are completely anonymous.

You will never have to give your name, show up in court and if your tip leads to an arrest, you get paid.

Hundreds of families are waiting for closure and counting on you.

Behind every face, every name, every date is a family and loved ones waiting for justice.

<snip>

Paul Dumolo, Lauren Dumolo’s father, expressed his dismay with the number of unsolved murders in our area.

“Makes me sick. That is such a small area. This has to be the highest crime rate in the United States right now. It has to be. I’ve never heard of 400 unsolved murders. It’s such a tiny little area,” said Paul.

Lauren Dumolo, a single mother from Cape Coral was last seen in July 2020. Her body is still missing. Her killer has yet to be found.

It haunted Paul when WINK News anchor Emma Heaton spoke with him 175 days after Lauren disappeared, and it haunts him nearly four years later.

“Because you don’t have that closure, you know, because there was never any. There is no, there’s not a body, there’s not a rest. There’s not, there’s nothing. There’s just one day you’re there. The next day for the last four years, you’re gone,” said Paul.

Paul prays the incentive will help families like his, who wake up every day without answers.

“It shouldn’t even have to take money,” said Paul, “people should do it because it’s the right thing to do.”

“There are folks in our community that have information that can help solve these crimes. For whatever reason, they’ve not chosen to come forward all over all these years,” said Routte.

“These people do not deserve your protection,” Routte added.

Anyone with information about any of these cold cases, or any not listed, can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477. Tips may also be made online or on the P3 Tips app. Tipsters will remain anonymous.

Glad to see that Lauren‘s dad hasn’t given up on justice! Call in that tip, no matter how small.

I have always felt for this man and for Lauren. This one has never received the attention some do and her purse was found but little progress or effort seems to have occurred. 400 in that small area?? Maybe we should hear more on that and pressure should come to bear.

I don't know how he does it but what would you do with no answers and no help and no progress? Imagine. Many of us here have adult children and can imagine. Just imagine they disappeared and you live your life with no answers or are expected to. Makes me think of Michael Bryson. Makes me think of a TON of cases. I could start naming them on and on and on off the top of my head. We all could.

Not saying LE has done wrong or should do more, I don't know but FOUR HUNDRED??? I lean toward the SO in this one. Not at a 100 percent but a strong lean.

I pray for her dad and hope he knows people do. I can imagine, any parent can but I can't as well imagine how he even copes or gets through. Heartbreaking.

4 Years Later: Where is Lauren Dumolo?

June 19 marks four years since Lauren Dumolo was last seen, as her family and crime stoppers hold out hope in finally locating her.

Lauren’s father told WINK News that the memory of his daughter’s disappearance has been burned into his memory.

“I still remember her voice, which is a good thing. I’ll never forget that,” said Dumolo. “So, I always play it over again. You know, I never want to forget her voice.”

If you have any information on Lauren Dumolo’s disappearance, contact Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS. You can also submit tips online or on the P3 Tips mobile app. Remember, you can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward.

I get that. Voices, it is hard to explain, but I will always remember both of my brothers' and dad's voice and even those of aunts and uncles but especially those of whom you knew their whole life or your whole life. This case has not gotten near the attention it deserves and I have always felt for her father who has went all out and never given up but no break or help comes.

Voices are huge. I of course can remember our lost men's appearance and times and their animation or how they looked or sounded (again voice) telling a story on a certain occasion and in final days the feel of their hair or their hand, and my entire life with them. All of it but I want to point out he says he still remembers her voice and will NEVER forget it and that is sooooo true. I don't know why but such stands out almost more than anything although all does but you'd know that voice ANYWHERE at ANY time.

And that makes me think of Delphi and the recording. His wife had to know that voice. I never thought of it this way before. I always figured someone that knew the guy would maybe recognize the voice but I've never thought about what Lauren's dad said here which made me think of our losses and how YES, you NEVER forget their voice. Not someone you spent all your life or a huge chunk of it with every single day, that you have known your whole life or their whole life. Never. Crying here as it makes me see if I can bring back instantly each of their voices and I can to this day, I always will be able to.

Not meaning to change cases but meaning to say about ANY case where there is a voice recording, etc. or voice heard, YES, they know. I also will never forget mannerisms, walks, posture, etc. They are imprinted beyond time.

This tells me RA's mom, wife and daughter know it's him. I've always thought so but this just gave me a perspective and thoughts in a way I hadn't thought of it before.

Back to Lauren, I wish this case would catch a break. I have my theories and leaning. It has had some giving some attention over time but never has been a "hot" case and largely imo because there never is any news or any show LE is doing a damned thing. I feel for her dad and always have. LE needs to get out there and show they are working on it and do pressers, they do NOTHING of the sort and THIS is the sunshine law state. Show that you are on it at least and DOING your job!

He WILL always remember her voice and one doesn't even have to try to imo, it is imprinted on you forever.

Cape Coral family seeks answers in Lauren Dumolo's 2020 disappearance

Lauren Dumolo disappeared from Cape Coral five years ago, and her family is still searching for answers.

Despite the case going cold, her loved ones continue to hold onto hope for the tip that could finally crack the case.

Lauren's sisters, Cassie Carey and Lindsey Smith, have vowed not to stay silent.

"You're never able to heal from your sister being missing," said one of Lauren's sisters.

The pain of Lauren's absence remains fresh for her family.

"Lauren being missing is like having an open wound… you're constantly picking at it, you're constantly opening it, you're constantly having to relive it. So you're never able to have closure," said another sister.

Lauren Dumolo vanished on June 19, 2020, without any goodbyes or answers. Her sisters describe her as the center of their world.

"She was consistent. She was a shoulder to cry on, she was someone to lean on," said Carey.

"I couldn't imagine a life without Lauren being a part of it," Smith added.

Since her disappearance, her sisters have been left with memories and a mission.

"We're not going to back down, we're not going to shut up, we're not going to be quiet," said Carey.

"We were the ones out there knocking on doors and asking questions," said Smith.

Lauren's last known location was her apartment in Cape Coral. Days later, her purse was found at Four Freedoms Park, just blocks away. Since then, there have been no suspects or arrests, and according to Carey, not even a detective has been assigned to her case.

"We are constantly listening to the news. We're constantly seeing all these missing person reports. We're constantly seeing all these skeletal remains found," said Carey.

"Then we start researching it ourselves, and we start following up on it. We start reaching out to the police department and asking, like, is this connected?" she added.

"Does this have any correlation to Lauren's disappearance? Have you guys pulled DNA?" Carey continued.

The search for answers is both exhausting and heartbreaking for the family.

"I'm not getting answers on it, but I'm still not going to stop asking those questions," said Smith.

"A little bit of me sometimes thinks maybe she's still alive, maybe she was kidnapped," said Carey.

As another year passes, Lauren's sisters are pleading for help.

"Please speak up, because Lauren is loved and missed, and we just want to know where she is," said Carey.

"We've been putting puzzle pieces together, trying to solve this, trying to complete it. And any little bit of information could add something positive to this, and we could piece it together," Smith added.

WINK News reached out to the Cape Coral Police for a response, and they said, "The Cape Coral Police Department is unwavering in its dedication to every case, regardless of how much time has passed. Our commitment to seeking answers and justice never diminishes, and we continue to pursue every lead with professionalism and compassion. The case of Lauren Dumolo is no exception—her disappearance remains an active priority, and we are steadfast in our efforts to bring closure for her family and our community."

Didn't realize the sisters also much but I know her dad has begged for attn and help for years. It breaks my heart. Unbelievable no detective has been assigned, if that is true, that is unforgivable imo if not MORE than one. LE is always silent as heck. It is maddening.

I truly wish someone would take it up for them and make a LOT of noise and bring it to a forefront of news or YT or something.

THE MYSTERY OF LAUREN DUMOLO: Cape Coral Police still searching for answers

Behind every face and every action, there's a name. The search for those names is where the journey begins.

Fox 4's Executive Reporter Kaitlin Knapp is on a mission to get to know the names we know, and perhaps find the ones we don't, along with the detectives working in the same communities you call home.

When Knapp asked the department what case they wanted to feature, Cape Coral Police Chief Anthony Sizemore chose Lauren Dumolo's.

"I think everyone deserves to have the attention paid to their case," Sizemore said. "I’m talking about Lauren because I want these cases out [there]."

This evidence told investigators that Dumolo did not leave on her own free will.

"I think it would be irresponsible not to suspect foul play at this point and it's very unusual for somebody to just disappear," Sizemore said.

The investigation required a different approach than typical criminal cases, focusing heavily on victimology.

"Who are they, what are their normal routines, who do they live with? You start very small," Sizemore said.

However, this victimology proved challenging, as investigators didn't find anything about Dumolo's life that led them in a specific direction.

"We don't have suspects. We have a victim, we have a lot of witnesses," Sizemore said. "What we do in a case like this is you start over a lot."
In cases like this, Sizemore said you start over a lot.

"You reinterview people, you retrace steps and you just continue to work at it," he said. "The length of time that a case is open does not dissuade you from continuing to work."

So that's what detectives have done over the years — really searching for anything new.

The department continued their efforts. In June 2025, Sizemore said there was some movement on Dumolo's case.

"We had actionable intelligence on a lead that caused an operation for us to act on," Sizemore said.

However, this lead also failed to bring them closer to finding Dumolo.

Sizemore attributes the case becoming cold to its unique circumstances, noting that Dumolo "wasn't with somebody and was clearly a witnessed abduction."

He said there are no suspects — just a victim and a lot of witnesses.

As another year passes without answers, Cape Coral Police continue working to solve the mystery of what happened to Lauren Dumolo.

"Obviously the answer is out there somewhere. I don't know what it is, but that's what we continue to aggressively find out," Sizemore said. "We care about Lauren. We care about what happened in this case."
