Search continues for current Mrs. Dallas who went missing under 'unusual circumstances'

More family and friends of a missing Irving mother have joined the search for her after she was last seen near a lake in her neighborhood Tuesday.

Irving police initiated a search. They say they don't treat every missing person's case like this, but they say this one has some unusual circumstances.

Police revealed after being tracked the missing woman’s phone is not on, but they had no major updates.

A day after 38-year-old Lashun Massey was reported missing, members of her Irving La Villita community came together in prayer.

"I want my wife back," said Jeff Massey, her husband.

Irving police say around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Massey went for her normal morning walk around the lake. It’s something Jeff says she's done since they moved to the La Villita community. Police say when she did not come back at her normal time, her husband called 911.

"Witnesses saw a female matching her description around 5:30 a.m. near the waterway near Lake De Clair, which is inside the La Villita residential area," explained Irving Police Officer Robert Reeves.

Lashun is a mother, business owner and the reigning Mrs. Dallas. She is set to compete in the Mrs. Texas America pageant in September.

Lashun’s father, Frank King, and other family members drove down from her hometown in Arkansas.

"I just don’t believe she is in that water. I just don’t believe it," King said. "I haven’t been able to sleep since I heard what went down. It’s just tough right now."

Investigators say they have no indication of foul play. They called in Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens Tuesday to use their sonar because the lake is 95 feet deep, but nothing was found.

"This is an unusual missing persons. That is why we are pushing it out the way we are," Reeves said. "Not every missing person gets put on social media or gets the news media, but this one is a little unusual."

Police would not elaborate more on the unusual circumstances.

‘She Knows How Much I Love Her’: Husband Of Missing Irving Mother Leshun Massey Says ‘She’s Going To Come Home’

It’s been nearly 36 hours since 38-year-old Leshun Massey was last seen in Irving after neighbors said they saw her walking around Lago De Claire on Tuesday morning, April 27.

Massey went missing around 7:00 a.m. after taking her daily walk.

Texas Park and Wildlife along with the Irving Police Department have been searching and monitoring the area but still no signs of the mother-of-two.

“She knows how much I love her and how much I cherish her,” Jeff Massey, Leshun’s husband told CBS 11. “She’s my world and she’s going to come home.”

Massey said for the last two years his wife has taken a walk around 7:00 a.m. each day by the lake and checks in, but said when he did not hear from her he got worried.

“So at about 7:15, I got a little nervous and I texted her. I gave her a call and she didn’t answer so at the time I found our security guard down here and said that they had seen her or somebody over in the canal,” said Massey.

When they went to check out the area, no one was there.

By 7:30 a.m., Massey said he called 911.

Neighbor say it’s unlike the pageant queen to suddenly vanish.

Massey’s neighbors are checking their surveillance video and in the days to come will be be posting signs with her picture on trees near the lake, hoping someone will recognize her.

Massey says he doesn’t believe his wife is in the lake, rather someone has done something.

They saw her or somebody in the canal? Odd phrase.

Looks like an area that would be full of security cameras. Not sure what makes this more unusual than some other cases I can think of.

After he called 911, he said that he learned of several eyewitness accounts that had been reported of a woman walking in and out of the lake.

"They asked her if she was okay, and she said she was, so they carried about their business," Robert Keeker of the Irving Fire Department told CBS 11.

Keeker added, "After that they said they saw her exit the water and then we later received a tip that someone else had seen her in the water again a couple of hours later."

Jeff told the news station he has a hard time believing that his wife is in the lake because she was very cautious around the water.

I can't put myself in anyone else's head, none of us can, but I do not swim, dog paddle, float or anything. It is said in more than one article that this woman had a fear of the water. Well I know that fear, my biggest fear is drowning and the last way I would commit suicide is by water because going that way is a fear/nightmare to me. So to me, that makes no sense whatsoever. Don't some take pills instead of say slitting their wrists because they are scared of the thought of pain, etc.? Well you don't kill yourself by choosing what you most fear. Of course, again, that is my opinion based on my own thoughts, what has been said and who knows what was in her thoughts.

This is a strange sounding sounding case. All of these people saw her in early morning hours going in and out of the water. None were curious enough or had nowhere to be yet in these early hours and kept watching to know what happened or where she went? No nosy neighbor or just someone concerned that it was not normal behavior? Concerned enough to see if she was okay but not to contact her husband or anyone else? Or keep watching, even if from a distance?

Odd. Imo.

Today she was supposed to be competing in the Mrs.Texas America pagaent. Dr. Massey a very well-accomplished woman which leads me to wonder what her mental health condition was leading up to her disappearance. This is worrisome & I'm glad to see her husband & father searching for her.
Yes, I notice in the more recent links it says that but in the first articles, it said she was to compete in September. Which statement is fact? I will refrain from making remarks of what I think of our media these days in almost every case...

This is what it said in the article in the first post...

"Lashun is a mother, business owner and the reigning Mrs. Dallas. She is set to compete in the Mrs. Texas America pageant in September." {Emphasis added by me]

Most likely MSM rush to publucation wasn't fact-checked. Go figure!
Mrs. Texas

So on this day, she took her normal 7:00 am walk by 5:30 am?

Again, did he think she left for her walk around 7:00 and was already worried by 7:15? Or did he know she had left earlier that day and didn't become worried for almost 2 hours? (I'm not necessarily questioning his story. Witnesses have apparently seen her by the water. Just wondering about the timeline.)

Those are my exact questions.

Initially I wondered immediately the very same things but then later media makes it sound as if she would go at 5:30 and be home around 7.

I do wonder why you would be concerned that fast but she apparently had her cell phone and it was shut off or something so maybe he tried calling her and no response and then someone had seen her in the water?

It sure is far from clear so far on most of it.

Body discovered during search for missing Mrs. Dallas pageant queen, Texas police say

Police recovered a body in a lake Thursday near the site where Mrs. Dallas pageant queen Lashun Massey went missing earlier this week.

It’s unclear if the body found in Lake de Claire in Irving, Texas, is of Massey, who was set to compete for the title of Mrs. Texas America , police say. The Texas Department of Public Safety dive team helped Irving police recover the body, which was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner to be identified.

Body pulled from Lago de Claire lake in Irving near where Mrs. Dallas pageant winner went missing

A body was pulled Thursday morning from Lago de Claire lake, near where the reigning Mrs. Dallas pageant winner went missing this week, Irving police say.

Irving police had not yet identified the body, saying they are waiting for a positive identification from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

She has only been missing two days so I imagine she is probably identifiable, meaning they want positive ID or DNA I suppose before confirming. Sad and tragic outcome.

Still a strange case and clearly facts missing the public does not know. Stress? Abnormal behavior recently? An argument? If she was seen that day by others than her spouse and that is reliable, he would seem to be not a suspect. I did not like the remark though the security guard saw her or someone... Which was it? Her or just any someone? I can put that down to media however.

I agree with gbear that someone who is afraid of water would'nt chose that as a method to commit suicide. I don't say this has to be foul play, I just think that this is a very odd case. She had plans and goals. Rest in peace, Lashun😕eta
Sorry for being too quick, she hasn't been identified yet.🙈but after being only 2 days in the water, this shouldn't be too difficult?
