Detectives seek help identifying body of missing pregnant woman found in Lake Michigan

Law enforcement is asking for help identifying the body of a missing pregnant woman who was pulled from Lake Michigan Sunday.

The woman, referred to as "Lake Michigan Jane Doe," is believed to have been in the water for no more than seven to 12 days when recovered on August 15, according to the Lake County (Illinois) Sheriff's Office.

Officials said it is possible she entered the water anywhere from the northern Indiana shoreline to the northern Illinois shoreline of Lake Michigan.

The woman was six to seven months pregnant, detectives say. She was approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed between 150-170 pounds. She had brown eyes and black hair, likely pulled back into a bun. Her fingernails and toenails were manicured and painted white, and she was wearing a pink colored summer dress.

This girl? No indication that she might be pregnant but not much was released about her.
I think she's got a thinner face and probably a bit younger than Jane Doe, IMO.

The Elgin Police Department recently shared a post on Facebook to help the Lake County sheriff’s detectives efforts to identify a missing woman, “Lake Michigan Jane Doe,” pulled from Lake Michigan on Aug. 15, 2021.

The woman was six to seven months pregnant. She was approximately 5 feet, 4 inches and weighed between 150 and 170 pounds. She had brown eyes and black hair, likely pulled back into a bun. Her fingernails and toenails were manicured and painted white. She was wearing a pink colored summer dress.

It’s believed she was in the water for no more than seven to 12 days when recovered on Aug. 15, and she possibly entered the water anywhere from the northern Indiana shoreline to the northern Illinois shoreline of Lake Michigan.

The body of the man recovered around the same time was positively identified as Martin Mendoza, 49, of Waukesha, WI, who drowned near the 63rd Street Harbor in Chicago on Aug. 8, 2021.

Detectives are confident there is no relation between the bodies of Mendoza and “Lake Michigan Jane Doe.”

Friday police said after receiving dozens of tips after releasing the information they had led them to a missing 19-year-old woman from Chicago. They have obtained her dental records and are using them to confirm her identity. They have not yet released her identity publicly, as they wait for official confirmation.

The woman, referred to as "Lake Michigan Jane Doe," is identified as Yarianna G. Wheeler, 19, according to the sheriff's office. She had been living in Chicago but was originally from Bellow, police said.

The composite told the story! If I would’ve known her, I would’ve known for sure that was her by her composite.
