Sisters of missing pregnant Massachusetts woman speak about her disappearance
Sisters of the 18-year-old pregnant, missing Massachusetts woman said they fear for her safety, and that her disappearance is extremely out of character.
“The last time we heard her voice was Wednesday night, but our last point of contact was Thursday through text,” said Faith Monteiro, Kylee’s sister.
Faith said she only learned of her sister’s disappearance from police, who contacted her on Friday.
She said she learned her sister had wandered away from her on-again, off-again boyfriend’s house that evening.
He’s also the father of her unborn child.
“When he woke up Friday morning and realized she wasn’t there, he got worried and contacted the police and they reached out and we filed a missing person's report on Saturday,” said Faith.
From there, local and state law enforcement began searching the area of County Street, and a reservoir that nearly borders her estranged boyfriend’s home.
For days, law enforcement could be seen on land, and on the water, but at last check there’s been no sign of Kylee.
In March, she met her boyfriend, moved in with him, and became pregnant.
Shortly after, they separated.
“She was staying with me previous to the home. It was a shelter for homeless pregnant women in Pembroke, Mass it’s called ‘Bethesda House’ and she stayed there for about three weeks and had been kicked out because she had to go to the hospital the day before, because she had vaginal bleeding and she didn’t get back til 6 in the morning and missed the mandatory meeting. So, they told her they think the program was too stressful and it’s best she leave,” said Faith.
Faith said the shelter provided Kylee with transportation to get to the boyfriend’s home in Rehoboth.
She had planned to pick up some of her things that she had left there, and wanted to have a conversation about their future, prior to her disappearance.
Despite all of her moving around, and all that was going on, her sisters' said Kylee was in good spirits about becoming a mom.
“She was so happy she said if it was a girl she was going to name her Eleanor. She was very happy, she would be 11 weeks pregnant this week going on 3 months now,” said Faith “This is not normal behavior. We have no clue what happened. There’s so much speculation and theories going on out there but we’re just trying to keep the hope.”
“It’s been absolutely nerve wracking not knowing where she is and not knowing when’s the last time she ate, when’s the last time she slept,” said Catherine. “Is she ok? Is she in a hospital? It’s absolutely nerve wracking not knowing where she is.”
“I wish I knew more, and I wish I could piece together what’s happening and, you know, have some kind of hope but with them not really giving us any information at all it’s hard to keep that going,” said Catherine. “Our plan going forward is to keep searching and keep doing everything we can to connect the dots.”
The Monteiros said while they’re aware there’s a lot of speculation surrounding her boyfriend, their hope is that people don’t point fingers when no one seems to know what really happened.
“We don’t know how he feels but he might, he has an unborn baby out there, he’s worried sick I bet. He cared about this child too,” said Faith. “We have no clue, there’s so many theories, so everything is popping in our head. I could give you a million scenarios right now of what could have happened but none of it adds up because knowing her and her personality and how she was, this is very scary and she wasn’t the type of person to go out on her own. She wasn’t always contacting family, reaching out for advice, for help, always in contact with somebody. It’s all very scary.”
