Details of Disappearance
Stouffer was last seen in Palmyra, Pennsylvania on July 28, 2012. She spent the evening out with friends in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and got into an argument with someone at the Hardware Bar. She returned to her top-floor apartment in the 800 block of west Main Street.

She lived with her boyfriend, who was under house arrest driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs while underage. There was a party at the apartment where alcohol was served, then the police arrived to break it up and arrested Stouffer's boyfriend for probation violation. (He ultimately spent a week in custody.)

Stouffer thought it was her downstairs neighbors who called the police on their party, and she believed her boyfriend might spend an extended time behind bars as a result of his arrest. She and a male friend got into an argument with the neighbors at 3:00 a.m. and the police responded to it.

They left at 3:50 a.m. with the disputing parties back in their respective apartments, but came back at 4:12 a.m. because the same neighbors complained Stouffer was stomping on the floor of her apartment.

The police knocked on the door of Stouffer's apartment and no one answered; her friend later claimed the were both inside but didn't hear the knocking. No one answered knocks at the complaining neighbor's door either, so the authorities left again.

Stouffer's friend stated he went to sleep and when he woke up later that day, she was gone and all her belongings were left behind, including her wallet, keys, shoes, cellular phone, dog and vehicle, a 2002 Ford Focus. At first her friend thought she was just sleeping in another room.

She has never been heard from again and there were no indications that any violence or a struggle had occurred at her apartment.

At the time of her disappearance, Stouffer worked off and on as a hairstylist at Elle Salon in Palmyra and also worked as a dog groomer and for her father's business, Stouffer Equipment. She is one of five children. Authorities stated they hadn't ruled out anyone as a suspect in her disappearance. Foul play is suspected in her case, which remains unsolved.

8 years missing: Where is Kortne Stouffer?

It has been 8 years since 21-year-old Kortne Stouffer was reported missing.

On Saturday, August 1, a group will be holding the 8th Annual Float Event for Stouffer, which aims to bring family and friends together to celebrate her life and raise awareness for her case.
The float will begin at Gravel Hill Road in Palmyra, and will float to the Boathouse in Hershey.

A $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, still stands.

Kortne Stouffer, was 21 years old on July 28, 2012, when she disappeared. She had the night off from work and went to a bar with friends. The group ended the night at Kortne’s apartment. According to Sergeant Mike Dipalo of the Lebanon County District Attorney's Office, police responded to a call from the apartment around 3:30 a.m. on the morning of July 29 where there was a report of conflict with the neighbors. Police told everyone to go back to their own homes and go to sleep. The next morning, Kortne’s friends discovered she was gone. Kortne had plans to go to the fair with family that day, but when she didn’t show up, they reported her missing. Authorities conducted interviews with the people who last saw Kortne, but nothing brought them closer to finding her. After three years of investigating and no leads in Kortne’s disappearance, her family’s attorney connected them with private investigator Leah Hopewell (formerly Jennings). Investigator Hopewell said that while she spoke with people who were with Kortne shortly before she disappeared, nothing led to Kortne. The family posted the PI’s updated information to the Kortne Stouffer – Remember Me Facebook page. Each year, Kortne’s family hosts a float on the Swatara Creek in her honor. The most recent one was held in August 2020. Kortne has a tattoo on her right arm that reads "One Love," a tattoo of three stars on the top of her right foot, and a tattoo on her left side of a pistol shooting flowers. Family is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to Kortne’s whereabouts. If you have any information on Kortne’s disappearance, please call Sgt. Dipalo at (717) 228-4403. Family of Lebanon County woman who disappeared in 2012 hopes new videos will lead to answers

The family of a Lebanon County woman who has been missing for nearly 10 years is hoping some new videos will lead to answers about her disappearance.

Filmmaker Eric Souillard is trying to make a positive difference in his community through videos produced by his company, Annubis Productions.

He approached the family about using social media to put the cold case back in the spotlight.

"The goal is just to create awareness, make her a real person again, get it back in the consciousness," Souillard said.

The initial video has generated more than 15,000 views already. The goal is to release a new video with other family members and friends every two weeks leading to the 10th anniversary of Kortne Stouffer's disappearance.

"Somebody knows something. Somebody saw something," Souillard said.

"A new way of getting her face out there, getting her story out there, keeping us motivated to make sure that she is never forgotten," Stouffer's mother, Wendy Stouffer-Hammel, said.

There is a $100,000 reward for information that would solve the case. You can call Palmyra police at 717-838-8189, the Lebanon County district attorney's office 717-228-4403 or Crime Stoppers.

'We have no closure': Family still looking answers 10 years after Kortne Stouffer vanished

Despite the sweltering heat on Saturday afternoon, local residents flocked to Swatara Creek Park in Hershey. An annual pilgrimage for some, they lined the banks of the creek with inner tubes, ready to ride the currents toward Hummelstown.

It was a light-hearted float with a somber purpose: It's been 10 years since Kortne Stouffer disappeared from her Palmyra residence without a trace.

Scott Stouffer, Kortne's father, said it's an event to remember his daughter's spirit, as this was one of her favorite outdoor pastimes.

"Obviously, we have no closure 10 years later to the date, and I think a lot of this is about support for our family," he said, adding the support is overwhelming and humbling for his family.

'11 years of trauma and heartbreak:' Family of Kortne Stouffer look for answers after disappearance

It’s been 11 years since the disappearance of 21-year-old Kortne Stouffer.

Friends, family and loved ones are still looking for answers and asking for public help with finding her.

The Palmyra Police Department tells FOX43 News the investigation into Kortne’s disappearance is still active. When FOX43 News reached out to Lebanon County Bureau Detectives and District Attorney’s Office, no comment was given on where the case stands now.

“There’s a lot of emptiness; there’s always hope,” said Scott Stouffer, Kortne’s father. "A lot of my family bonds together pretty well and we’re strong for each other. We definitely want answers, and I don’t think we deserve an emptiness for the rest of our lives."

According to Stouffer, there hasn’t been much communication about the case between the officials involved and his family. Stouffer says new information has come out from State Police, but he was not at liberty to disclose it to FOX43. However, Stouffer did say he was frustrated at things in the investigation that were not addressed 11 years ago.

“I think there’s someone accountable, and they need to be held responsible and help give everybody involved some closure as well them their just punishment,” said Stouffer.

“I, in my heart, believe that something bad happened to her 11 years ago and that there are still people walking around this town that definitely know what happened or were involved in it,” said Jennings.

To bring more awareness to Kortne’s case and to celebrate who she is, a “Come Home Kortne" float remembrance will take place at Swatara Creek Park tomorrow. The event starts at noon, followed by food, games and fun at Stouffer’s farm.

'We have no answers': Family still seeks closure 12 years after Kortne Stouffer vanished

Twelve years ago, Kortne Stouffer disappeared from her residence without a trace, and her family is still looking for answers.

On Saturday afternoon, the Stouffer family and others drove to Swatara Creek Park in Hershey and lined the banks of the creek with multiple inner tubes. It's part of a tradition in which the family floats the currents towards Hummelstown in remembrance of one of their own.

Kerstin Jennings, Stouffer's sister, said the annual excursion is "a mix of emotions" for the family. On a peaceful day like July 27, family and friends want to celebrate Stouffer's life by doing something she loved.

"But then you get overwhelmed by the emotions that she's not here," Jennings said. "She's not here to be able to do it with us. We still don't know what happened to her, and we miss her every day."

"It is still an ongoing case," Jennings said. "It's not closed. It's still open, and we're still trying to find out what happened to her."

On Saturday, Scott Stouffer said that the 12 years the family has not been able to find closure for his daughter's disappearance "just seems wrong."

"Kortne may have been a little misguided, but she had a good spirit," Scott Stouffer said. "She was a beautiful person. There's no reason I didn't get to walk her down the aisle and see her have children, and I'm very frustrated with the pursuit of the case."

Immediately after Stouffer's disappearance, friends and family created search parties, a tip line was set up, and missing posters were placed around Palmyra and neighboring towns.

But for all the efforts made over the last 12 years, Jennings said there has never been any lead solid enough in the investigation to close the case and tell the family what happened to Kortne.

Most of the communication the family has had about the investigation has been retired detectives who worked on Kortne's case for over a decade, Jennings said. But she added that getting in contact with law enforcement currently working on the case can take months at a time.

"That's kind of disheartening, but we still hold onto hope that somebody cares enough to continue to do something," she said.

While Kortne's family members haven't given up hope, they do acknowledge the process of gathering information in both Lebanon and Dauphin counties about the case and those potentially involved has been problematic.

"It's just frustrating," Scott Stouffer said. "Twelve years later these people are still walking around, (while) we have no closure. We have no answers. My family suffers every day."

The Stouffers are offering a $100,000 reward for solid information that leads to Kortne Stouffer's whereabouts. Over the last two years, they have been launching a nonprofit tie-dyed clothing collection called "Kortne Remember Me" and releasing video testimonials to keep her story alive.

"Really I've been pushing so hard the last couple years for my parents, because they just deserve answers." Jennings said. "Kortne deserves to have answers and put everything to rest. I just don't want my mom and dad to struggle anymore with the thought that they won't know what happened to their daughter."

Supporters of missing Lebanon County woman to host annual Swatara Creek float on Saturday

Family, friends and supporters of a Lebanon County woman who went missing more than a decade ago will gather this week at an annual event aimed at keeping her memory alive.

On July 29, it will be 13 years since Kortne Stauffer, a 21-year-old Palmyra resident, disappeared from her apartment after a night out with friends.

The 12th annual Come Home Kortne Swatty Float will be held Saturday at noon at Swatara Creek Park in Hershey. Participants are invited to bring their own kayaks, boats, canoes or inner tubes (along with their own food and beverages) for a 4-5 hour float on the creek.

Missing for 13 years: Where is Kortne Stouffer?
July 29 marked 13 years since Palmyra-native Kortne Stouffer vanished. She was 21-years-old.

“We've looked at so many areas where we thought Kortne was and it just proves to be some place she's not,” said Scott Stouffer, her father.

Every year around the anniversary of her disappearance, family, friends, and even strangers gather in Hershey to float the Swatara Creek, one of her favorite activities.

“This is Kortne. She's epitome of a beautiful rainbow, like she has so many different things about her that are vibrant,” her father said.

About 100 people showed up to the float this year to remember and celebrate Kortne’s life. The family said it’s the biggest turnout ever.
