Police investigate possible abduction of 16-year-old girl who disappeared from campground party

Detectives in Northern California have launched an abduction investigation after a 16-year-old girl vanished from a large party Saturday.

Kiely Rodni was last seen attending "a party of more than 100 juveniles and young adults" near the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, California, at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Also missing from the party was Rodni's car, a silver 2013 Honda CRV.

Her phone has been out of service since the party, authorities said. At a news conference Tuesday, Placer County Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Alford said her phone last sent data at 12:33 a.m. Saturday

Adventures With Purpose got to the area last night and are there now doing their thing. Theyl came from WI to Truckee CA the way it sounds.

I haven't been home most of the day and saw nothing but heard tonight that LE thinks her phone is in the water but not her vehicle. Was anything like this said by LE? If that'is true, that is curious and they must have reasons. I don't though know where they got it from but it was said LE thinks that. However, this case is getting a lot of attention and so I am not vouching for it but maybe I missed a press conference or announcement or post or some such.

Yeah, something is just off about her or at least what she has said is full of inconsistencies. It could be just guilt that she left her so she is covering for that or fear if drugs were present or something else went on. I tried to put it down to a foggy memory at first with maybe impairment from drinking, etc. but no, she comes out with things she says happened (so does have recall) but they just don't jive. She is the only person who has placed herself in there the last hour and says she was the last to see her, etc. and that too doesn't make sense as to how she could possibly know that. All sorts of inconsistencies.

I haven't heard them but I gather a number of Kiely's friends have said she wouldn't drink and drive and she just didn't do that. They say her relationship with her mom was so open she could have called if she needed to and wouldn't drive. And for me, I've heard nothing that has even convinced me Kiely was drinking at all. Maybe she was, but I've missed anyone else confirming the fact other than Sami. Another thing of note is that per Sami they have been to this party place many times, Kiely knew it and was familiar with the drive and it is also said that on he route home, even if taking a different route, the odds of her going in the water are slim as the chance of that isn't really there. I mean that doesn't mean she couldn't have near the party spot but again of her own accord/driving?

I'm not accusing anyone of anything but I'd say the same thing with an older adult or anyone if the things out of their mouths change or don't jive/add up.

drunks are known to go the wrong direction so IF she did drive off drunk, she possibly could be absolutely anywhere.

Nothing in this case so far has convinced me she was drunk or under the influence of drugs. But yes, it is possible but it has been said she was very familiar with the routes and imo you'd have to be pretty far gone to not know your route home if that was the case and it sounds like the possible routes wouldn't have put her easily in water, etc.

I think the only suspicion to speak of of water is right there near the campground.

IF it is true they think the phone is in the water and the vehicle else where, I now have to wonder if the have a locate somehow of the phone likely in the water and a sighting or locate of some type on the car.

There is a lot of "info" out there that to my knowledge isn't verified and so it is a hard one to keep fact from fiction because even on the reliable coverage, comments come in that I don't know if verified.

I just don't think though that this is an entirely "accidental" case. Girl chooses to drink, girl gets drunk, girl goes in water. Doesn't feel like that to me. At minimum I think given something bad and I think it was beyond that and something more actually.

Jmo though.

I'd also mention that she didn't go to "their" school and even if she did, I graduated ahead of my class and my cousin even earlier than I did. It was still mostly our grade we knew best and had classes with and hung with because we couldn't take certain required classes until entering high school and with our own class in the year required. Physics 9th grade, gym, Algebra I, etc. Those classes were all with our own age unless an occasional upper classman that needed to retake them. You piled on electives to get out early and these are the classes that might be mixed. You still cheered with your own class, hung with your own class you'd grown up with, etc. Of course you knew some older ones but not the same. AND she was from a different school, a charter school. I don't think these were tight friends most of them and I certainly don't think Sami was. I think she MAY have been tempted to be with such though. She was 16.

My thoughts so far are one of two things...

She either did get drunk and had an accident that they just haven't found yet

OR

her so called friend did something and she was lured to the "party" for the plan as in similar to the slenderman case or the one where the girl just wanted to know what it was like to kill somebody.

I entertain both of those theories. Some out there think this was a fight club thing. I also could see the friend leaving her vulnerable by taking off and she was stuck with a bad guy or group. I can also see her going with someone willingly who did not have good intentions. Luring or heavy persuasion or temptation though to attend the party is something I DO suspect, probably by Sami. What happened after that and whether planned or she just helped get her in a situation and drunk as well, etc., I'm not sure.

That's the problem too, I can see any of it. But I do find the total accident the least believable and Kiely herself putting herself in that situation and/or condition.

All that said though, it COULD be just she was ready to get a little wild, try some new things, ended up in poor condition to drive and barely functional and ended up herself with her car in the water. I'm not going to say it couldn't be as it certainly could but the case just doesn't "feel" like that and I don't feel either that it is being treated as if that is what happened...

It has been eye opening and a bit of a learning experience to hear some of the things that are common out there and have been for years and I won't just say there but in the "west". The lacing, the drug dealers at kid's parties, the fight club thing, the fentanyl and more. I'm not totally clueless but this seems like an area of it that is beyond what I would see in our area and especially with a party that a 16 year old attended. Maybe the college kids of course and a bigger area.

This was close to Tahoe, Reno, etc. Far different than here I think...
 
More than one YTer is claiming AWP found Kiely in the water. I can find no news to confirm this. IF it is untrue, I am going to let them all have it! But it is MORE than one.
 
I imagine it will be a long process for toxicology and I imagine they will also determine where she went in if they can and if all of her jewelry and clothing is accounted for and so forth. And if she was driving and alive when she went in. As well as WHO saw her as most claim they never saw her leave.
 
There is still a big problem here in that her her phone went off at 12:33 and her friend claimed a call from her at 12:36 or I think those were the times. Did she call from the water?

Great job by AWP they do find vehicles and often people in them.

It is just hitting me how hard she worked and how talented she was with her whole life ahead. All are tragic but working hard and graduating at 16 and now this. So sad. She had a lot to offer this world.
 
I am not vouching for the channel although right now it isn't a bad conversation, but don't know much about the YT channel, however, if anyone wants to watch what they are doing at the scene in recovering the car, this is a live feed.
