LIVE OAK, Fla. (WCTV) - It’s a question being asked across the nation, catching the attention of thousands of online web sleuths in chat groups, podcasts, and YouTube videos: What happened to Kelley Brannon?

On Wednesday night, WCTV aired the first part of this Unsolved Florida case involving the disappearance of Kelley Brannon, which you can watch by clicking here.

Brannon and her boyfriend, Eddie Emerson, were ready to start fresh last July. They packed up their things in Micanopy, just south of Gainesville, each in their own car headed up Interstate-75 toward Detroit, Michigan, where they planned to buy a home.

But, only a short drive into their journey, Eddie had car trouble, landing them about an hour outside Tallahassee in Live Oak. July 15, 2020, outside the Sunshine Inn is the last time and place Brannon was heard from.

In an interview with Emerson just days after Brannon vanished, he told WCTV the story of what he said happened.

“We were driving up, and my transmission burned up about an hour and a half up the road,” described Emerson.

While waiting for the car to be fixed, the couple had spent several nights camping out, but after a few days, Emerson said they decided to “get a hotel room” for a night.

The pair checked into Room 70 at the Sunshine Inn, a low-cost motel off one of the main arteries into town, and quickly began to argue.
“She was crying,” Emerson said. “She was miserable. She was drunk. I didn’t comfort her. I just took her keys off her waist and I said, ‘you can’t drive right now, alright?’”

Emerson admitted to locking Brannon outside the motel room.

“I just went back in the room. Stupidly, I just went back in the room,” Emerson recalled.

Screenshots of the texts they exchanged that night show the argument went on for hours as well as Brannon threatening to leave.
“She’s texting me and calling me, and I’m answering and hanging up because it’s just mean stuff. She’s getting drunker and drunker. I’m just trying to sleep,” said Emerson.

Surveillance from the motel that night shows Brannon walking through the parking lot in the hours before she disappeared. A final voicemail from her was left on Eddie’s phone just before 1 a.m. might have included a clue to her whereabouts.

“You know, I’m sick of your abuse.....Oh, I’m getting in a car right now. Bye,” said Brannon before the voicemail ended with a click.

Detectives, who have pulled phone records, said those words 10 months ago are the last known from her.

Her purse, ID, and credit cards were left behind. Rountree said that there are unverified reports that her cell phone last synced with Google about an hour after that voicemail was left in the area of Dowling Avenue, less than a mile away from the Sunshine Inn. But, there’s been no activity since.

The couple has a rocky past with domestic violence issues in Gainesville, which is documented by court records, police reports, and 911 calls.

  • Kelley Brannon, 37 years old (36 at time of disappearance)
  • White female
  • Brown eyes and black hair with gray streaks
  • Height: 5′4″

Kelley Brannon: Florida police asking for help finding woman missing since July 2020

The Lake City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a woman who was last seen in Live Oak in July 2020.

Kelley Brannon was last seen on July 15, 2020 leaving the Sunshine Inn in Live Oak, police said.

NBC News reported on Brannon’s disappearance in November 2020. Her family was hoping she would be home in time to celebrate Thanksgiving with her mother.

Kelley Brannon: Missing Florida woman featured on Tyler Perry’s Paramount+ show ‘Never Seen Again’

The case of a Florida woman who has been missing for nearly two years is being featured on a new Paramount+ show.

Her disappearance is now the subject of a two-part episode on Tyler Perry’s docuseries, “Never Seen Again.” Each episode features a different case and the trailer asks, “Somebody knows something? Is it you?”

Brannon’s boyfriend Eddie Emerson appears briefly in the trailer for the show, holding a framed photo of Brannon.

The description for the first part of the episode briefly describes what went down between Brannon and Emerson the day she disappeared:

“After an angry fight with her boyfriend, Kelley Brannon paces a motel parking lot, refusing to return to the room. Waking alone at dawn, her boyfriend listens to a voicemail, her last trace, as she signs off “I am getting in a car.” Whose car and where she went have haunted him ever since. But her friends and family are not so sure he’s innocent. Was it him or was she abducted? Or did she ghost him and run away to reinvent her life?”

Katie Kaplan, a reporter for the CBS station in Tallahassee, said her series “Unsolved Florida” served as the outline for the “Never Seen Again” episodes about Brannon:

I almost got excited but then on reading it can see they likely don't have anything new.

Find it a bit odd they don't refer to it as a press conference and they point out the length and call it a FREE two hour event. Since when are such things charged for? Maybe it has to do with this Unsolved Inc. place.

Does anyone know what he’s been up to since she went missing?
Not a clue, no time plus it isn't a commonly covered case or one with news that I come across. Sadly she seems to get little attention. I is another one that LE seems to be dong nothing with or care less or maybe all is just quiet. However this is FL, the sunshine law state...When you get cases where family or friends or a community don't keep it in the news or pressure, nothing seems to happen in so many of them.

And now that reminds me of the father who has tried to get and keep his daughter's out there, also in Florida, and see I can't think of her name and that's sad. They found her purse in a park or on a beach...BF issues too if I recall. Can't even imagine being a family of an adult child missing.

Have Kelly's family ever made waves or noise or kept it in the news? I can't recall but I don't recall family speaking at all that I can remember. or at least not keeping at it?

There were a lot of tweets about her for a long time, which is why I brought the case here, but I haven’t seen anything lately.

Missing woman Kelley Brannon’s mother passes away

The mother of Kelley Brannon, who vanished from a Live Oak motel in 2020, has died.

Christine “Chris” Brannon passed away suddenly in Charlestown, New Hampshire, on October 7 without ever learning the fate of her daughter, according to a news release.

Kelley Brannon, then 36, has not been seen or heard from since she declared on a voicemail that she was getting into a vehicle three years ago. The musician and activist had been locked out of her motel room by her boyfriend after an argument.

Her boyfriend, Eddie Emmerson, said he had taken Brannon’s car keys from her and then went to bed at the Sunshine Inn. She allegedly left without her credit cards or IDs and has not been seen since. Emerson is one of six persons of interest in the case along with several other people who were staying at the motel that night, according to investigators.

The key to the case could be finding her rare guitar- a left-handed Fender Stratocaster with a sunburst finish. It has a unique feature in that the branding was sanded off the headstock. Kelley reportedly had the instrument with her when she was last seen.

RIP Kelly's mom. I dare say you now are reunited and know what happened to her.

Emerson is one of six persons of interest as are several other people in the motel. Huh? Are they mixing up (news that the six ARE the motel people or are they unable to add all the POIs together like six others and five motel and say 11 other POIs.

Sorry I am overcooked and tired and trying to unravel from the week and then read LISK news.

I have a revised version of Emerson's that has always been in my head but I guess he is innocent until proven guilty... But I think most can guess where I lean hard.
