The Kokomo Tribune is covering this trial, but it's a paywall. I can't believe how difficult it is to follow this trial! :shakinghead:

I found that out yesterday. There is one youtuber doing it but it is so long winded. I'll find it and post it and you can check it out if you have several hours to spare. I think its called Beyond Evidence.

Sad as it is so many are probably covering Read, if I encounter anyone covering this one, I will link it too. Haven't yet.

Here is Day 3 of Live Trial Coverage. She does one each day.

:thankyou: hopefully I’ll have time to look at it after work. I was hoping to find an article in words so I could read it during my lunch break yesterday, but that didn’t happen.

Flint Farmer found not guilty in death of Karena McClerkin

A jury found Flint Farmer not guilty of both murder and voluntary manslaughter in the 2016 death of 18-year-old Karena McClerkin.

The verdict was read shortly after noon Thursday in a packed Howard Superior Court 2 and after approximately 7 total hours of jury deliberation.

Kokomo man found not guilty in murder of Karena McClerkin, 9 years after disappearance

A jury found Flint Farmer, 57, of Kokomo, not guilty of murder and voluntary manslaughter on May 8.

Karena is a sister, an aunt, a daughter, and a granddaughter. Her three-year-old niece is named after her. At the time of Flint's arrest, her family said it was a step towards healing.

Kokomo man found not guilty in woman's 2016 murder, later charged with obstruction of justice

A Kokomo man accused of killing 18-year-old Karena McClerkin in 2016 has been acquitted of her murder. However, his legal battles are not over.

According to our newsgathering partners at the Kokomo Tribune, Flint Vincent Farmer was found not guilty Thursday after seven hours of jury deliberation over the course of two days.

The grandmother of Karena, Gerry McClerkin, told the Kokomo Tribune she was surprised and frustrated with the verdict.

“Kokomo sucks on their judicial system,” McClerkin told the Tribune. “They let him (Farmer) walk, and he’s gonna go about his life the last nine damn years like nothing happened and happy-go-lucky.”

However, shortly after the verdict was read, the Howard County Prosecutor's Office filed seven felony obstruction of justice charges against Farmer, alleging he gave "false" and "purposely misleading" statements to investigators.

Farmer also allegedly told others, including witnesses in the jury trial, not to cooperate with investigators and to "plead the Fifth" if questioned by police.

Online court records show a warrant has been issued for Farmer's arrest. If convicted of these new obstruction charges, Farmer could face time in prison in connection with McClerkin's death.

Well I am glad they hit him with how many other charges like immediately.

A few were saying could hardly find anywhere to watch it.

I'll take most trust in the grandmother about their system. I think sometimes a person has to live somewhere to really know or be able to see the proceedings.

So what is it that got a total acquittal, I mean a judge's decisions leading up to trial and at the trial can throw off a proceeding or allow only this or that the jurors see, the prosecutors could not have done a great job, OR it could be just the jury didn't feel enough evidence. However, the grandmother talks of the system there...

YET no the DA's office hit him with several more charges.

It's a shame almost no one seems to be covering it, either news, YTers, reporting, attending or I think we'd know more about why this happened...

It's also an older case and that probably didn't help.

Acquittals are really fairly rare, just listening to an atty last night who said as much in general. Not about this case, just in general. Of course we have a couple of well known famous ones but overall they are very rare. And so, something is wrong here. Mentioned here a few reasons such could happen. Kind of trying to put the pieces together but we don't know much as not covered well or if at all barely... Wouldn't seem to the prosecutor's office as they hit him immediately with more charges. They brought the case and tried it. Could have been not enough evidence OR again that evidence wasn't allowed in and a judge can throw a case with just his or her decisions or even dismiss one...

Wish I had the time to look at I think the one thing linked here that even covered this. I have run into basically nothing on it which is a shame. I hope those who can stay with it and we hear more, hopefully SOMEONE will truly cover it out there or attended for God's sake. I do come in to see new posts when I can and I did follow this one from early on. WHY do they put all these cases on at the same darned time? To be fair no way news or a YTer could even attend all or keep up with all. Lately it is like they are almost choreographed. Do they all just work from spring through summer then go summer elsewhere for the rest of the year or something....? Only half joking. We go through long stretches with NO trials or much known of anyhow and then BAM. And there are tons of others imminent or with pretrial proceedings going on at least because imminent that most also followed.

Here is Marv who does the Beyond the Evidence podcast reporting on the trial and the verdict. She said a juror told her it was split 6-6. She gives a good report of the proceedings.

Prosecutors file new obstruction charges against Kokomo man in connection with Karena McClerkin case

During the jury trial, a witness testified Flint Farmer brought McClerkin’s body into her apartment and instructed her not to call 911.

The witness testified at trial she was afraid of Farmer and did as instructed by not calling 911, court documents read.

She testified that Farmer told her ‘you’re in it now,’ read court documents.

The witness testified she helped Farmer wrap McClerkin’s body in trash bags and rolled her in a carpet to avoid detection.

Another witness also testified at Farmer’s request, he transported the body of McClerkin to a shallow grave in Miami County, court documents alleged.

The male witness testified he believed he would be compensated by Farmer for removing the body and not speaking about it.

Following Farmer’s arrest in 2022, both witnesses were called to testify, but provided false statements at the request of Farmer, newly filed court documents allege.

Prosecutors also allege that during jury trial proceedings, Farmer told a family member information even after the separation of witness’s motion was made.

Typically, the purpose of a separation of witnesses order is to prevent the testimony of one witness from influencing that of another.

A hearing is scheduled for June 3.
