Police asking for help finding missing Danville woman

The Danville Police Department is asking for help finding a missing woman.

Police say they’re looking for 53-year-old Jennifer (Jenny) R. Hawkins.

It’s been nearly six days since Derek Hawkins has heard from his wife.

He filed a missing persons report with the Danville Police Department on Wednesday after she didn’t come home from work.

On Thursday, police found her car in a McDonald’s parking lot in Danville.

But there was still no sign of Jenny Hawkins.

“I just want to know if she’s okay. And if she’s not, I want to know that too,” Derek Hawkins says.

Derek says her phone and her purse were not in the car and all calls go straight to voicemail.

“Of course we’ve all been trying to get a hold of her. We just can’t get her to pick up,” Derek Hawkins says.

Derek Hawkins called his wife’s workplace in Lexington looking for answers.

Derek Hawkins tells us his wife’s supervisor said Jenny Hawkins had called in sick on Tuesday for her night shift because she was in the emergency room for unknown reasons.

“The hospital won’t release that information, but she had had a surgical procedure the week prior and had developed some complications,” Derek Hawkins says.

Derek Hawkins says Jenny Hawkins was discharged from Baptist Health Lexington on Tuesday night.

That was the last time she was seen.

Derek Hawkins tells us she has left the house for a period of time before, but he says, “This is totally different in the fact that we haven’t heard from her [with]in 24 hours. She always calls and checks on her kids.”

Derek Hawkins says his kids just want their mom back.

“I’m trying to be strong for my kids but I can’t be strong all the time.”

Derek Hawkins has a message to his wife: “Call us. You know, just give us a call. Give somebody a call, a text message, something, just say that you’re okay.”

'We're scared something really bad has happened': Danville husband seeks help for missing wife

It's every person's worse nightmare when a loved one goes missing, and one Boyle County husband has been searching for his missing wife for almost a week.

Tomorrow will mark an official week since 53-year-old Jennifer Hawkins went missing. It's been a gut-wrenching week for the Hawkins family as they wait to uncover any leads surrounding the disappearance of Jennifer.

According to her husband, Derek Hawkins, she was last seen leaving the Baptist Health Lexington hospital in blue scrubs on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Her vehicle was found at a McDonalds off Perryville Road in Danville on Thursday, Nov. 28 afternoon without her phone or purse inside.

Derek and Jennifer have been married for 32 years. Derek says the duo has had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day, they stay together because they love each other. The couple has six kids together, three living at home.

Derek admits he's unsure why Jennifer was at the Lexington hospital to begin with. However, Jennifer underwent surgery a week ago and was battling an infection with spasms following her surgery. Derek believes her visit to Baptist Health could be related to the infection.

"So my wife works nights. She normally comes home around 8:30-ish in the morning. I didn't see her before work on Wednesday night, Wednesday morning. Then she wasn't home whenever our kids got home from school 3:30 or four o'clock," explains Derek. Jennifer has been a nurse at the Federal Prison Medical Center in Lexington for more than 10 years.

"And then they found her car at Danville McDonalds Thursday afternoon. I got a call Thanksgiving day about five o'clock that they had found her car here. So somehow her car got back to Danville, but we haven't heard from her and haven't seen her which is not like her," said Derek.

Jennifer is also deaf and wears hearing aids. Derek fears her hearing aids may not be working anymore. Whenever he calls her phone, it goes directly to voicemail.

"If you know who my wife is with, if you know where she's at. If you know anything about where she could- where she might be," said Derek. "Just contact the Danville police department and just reach out to them and say we know she's okay. Have her call her family, help her call her family. Whatever it needs to be just to make sure she's alive and okay."

I’m gonna reserve my first opinion for now. I’m not seeing any thing glaring at me at this point.

At least "surgery a week ago" and being back to work so soon most likely means a not major surgery in general, sans infection.

From the second article:

I found it strange that her husband apparently didn't know why she went back to the ER. Possibly even that she had gone there in the first place.

She called in sick Tuesday night to go to the ER. She works nights so would have come "home from work" on Wednesday morning.

Did he think she went to work after the ER, or not know that she had not gone to work at all? She apparently decided to not return home OR to work after being released. I wonder if that McDonald's has surveillance cameras where her car was found. (I feel like most places do.)

Also interesting to say "she's done this before" and that they've had their "ups and downs".

To be clear, I'm not in any way accusing him. I find it more likely that she took off, hopefully not permanently.

This bit rings an alarm bell with me.

"Jennifer has been a nurse at the Federal Prison Medical Center in Lexington for more than 10 years."

Are there any prisoners missing too?

I'm more alarmed by the husband not inquiring about how her dr visit went and not knowing if she went to work or not after it. I do get the part that she leaves before he gets home and not knowing for sure, but it seems like he would at least want to know about her healing process and be concerned about that. At least send a text to ask!

Is it known if she attended work Tuesday and Wednesday night shift? Did the husband check with her work as to when she was last seen at work? It appears her car was found on Thursday at McDonalds so on Thanksgiving day. But her bag and phone were not there. Can they track her phone?

They said her supervisor reported her calling out of work on Tuesday night. I think it would have been mentioned as the time last seen if she had gone in on Wednesday night.

So where was she Wednesday night if she wasn't at work or at home? And then her car shows up Thursday a.m. at McD but she has disappeared.

I think she may have got to know a prisoner during her time working there and may have gone off with someone. Maybe check any who have been released recently.

Her car may have been there Wednesday. It was discovered to be there / reported on Thursday. They haven't specifically said how long it was parked there.
