Police said Johnson was last seen Friday night in the 8100 block of 4th Avenue North around 8:20 p.m. after finishing up with football practice.

A search is underway after a 5-year-old boy disappeared Friday night during football practice in east Birmingham.Jayce Johnson disappeared about 8:20 p.m. while at East Lake Park in the 8100 block of Fourth Avenue North.
His grandmother, Nisha Johnson, said Jayce’s mother was at work and the boy’s coach picked him up for football practice and was planning on bringing him home.
After practice, the coach was handing out uniforms and told the boys who were riding with him to get in the car. When he turned around, Jayce was gone.
Police have set up a command post near the scene. So far, officers have checked every vehicle in the area.
