LULING, Texas (KXAN) — On Thursday, several agencies were outside of Luling, about 40 minutes from south Austin, searching for missing Texas State University student Jason Landry.

Day four of the search began bright and early on Thursday morning.

Jason Landry, 21, a Texas State University student, is missing after his car was found crashed near U.S. 183 in Luling, Texas. He is believed to have been heading back home for Christmas break, but no one has heard from him since the crash. A small amount of blood was found in his car, along with his phone.

Reports that remains may have been found along Salt Flat Road have renewed attention on the 2020 disappearance of Texas State University student Jason Landry.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office would neither confirm nor deny the reported recovery where Landry’s crashed vehicle was found more than five years ago, citing an active investigation.

Remains found near Luling identified as missing Texas State student Jason Landry​

A nearly six-year search for missing Texas State University student Jason Landry has apparently come to an end. DNA testing has confirmed that human remains found near where he disappeared in 2020 are those of Landry, according to the Texas Attorney General's Office

A local resident discovered the remains Sept. 8 east of Salt Flat Road in Caldwell County, between Soda Springs and Biggs Road. DNA testing by the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification confirmed Landry's identity, according to the attorney general's office.

Investigators said the skeletal remains do not provide additional insight into the cause or manner of Landry's death. They said they have found no indication of foul play.

We first learned a couple of weeks ago about remains that were found on the property about four miles from where Jason Landry's car was found. KHOU 11 reporter Matt Dougherty said his sources were telling him that a property owner was cutting the grass and saw what he thought was a ball. It turned out to be a skull. Those details haven't been confirmed by officials.
