Possible clue could give insight into the case of a missing Medina County mom

Friday marks twelve days since 53-year-old Jane Milota went missing.

Jane is your typical suburban mom. She’s happily married and lives in a quaint Medina Township neighborhood with her husband, Warren, and their 26-year-old son, who has autism.

“One day she just didn’t come home,” Warren told 19 News.

Police said Jane was reported missing on Monday, August 9.

Earlier that day, around 7:30 a.m., Milota dropped her son off at work in Westfield Center, about 20 minutes away from their home.

According to police, she was also supposed to work that day at the Arby’s off Route 18, but police neither showed up nor called to say she wouldn’t be coming in.

“She hasn’t contacted anybody and didn’t give anybody a clue that she would not be here,” Warren said.

How she’d reach out is a bit tough. Warren said his wife left her phone at home.

“It was plugged in. It could’ve been out of power and she forgot to plug it in or she didn’t take it on purpose, I don’t know, that’s another thing I question myself about,” he said.

And making the case even more complex, Warren tells us Jane doesn’t own any credit cards.

But she does have an ATM card. And Warren said his wife took out $1000 the Saturday before going missing but said withdrawing a massive amount like that isn’t uncommon.

“She paid cash for everything,” Warren said.

What Warren said is shocking is information he said he just learned from one of his wife’s co-workers.

“She told somebody at work that her hip hurt, and she had hip cancer but didn’t want to tell me because she didn’t want me to worry,” he said.

So far, there has been no sign of Jane nor the vehicle she was driving when she dropped her son off. Police said it was a brown Buick Enclave with the license plate HCA7418.

Police have expanded the search overseas.

Warren said his wife grew up in Denmark and still has relatives there, but said her passport is currently expired.

Police use drone to search for missing Medina Township mother

Investigators in Medina County are turning to technology to search for clues in the perplexing disappearance of 53-year-old Jane Milota.

The Medina County Sheriff's Office flew a drone with a 4k camera and thermal imaging over wooded areas in Westfield Center on Friday afternoon.

Detective Larry Covey, who operated the drone, said he was looking for Milota's missing car—a brown Buick Enclave—or anything else that seemed out of the ordinary.

Prayer vigil to be held for missing Medina mother

A prayer vigil will be held for a Medina resident who has been missing for nearly two weeks.

While Medina Township police do not have evidence of foul play, the woman's aversion to highways and credit cards have made her difficult to track, News 5 Cleveland reported.

The vigil will take place Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Medina's Public Square, according to Dawn Birchenough, the event's organizer and close friend of Milota.

Police struggle to find clues in Medina County missing persons case

A bizarre missing persons case is leaving police in Medina Township puzzled.

It’s been over a week since anyone’s seen or heard from 53-year-old Jane Milota.

Milota is your typical suburban mom.

Neighbors told 19 News she’s happily married and has special needs son, who is 26. They said they’ve never heard any fighting coming from Milota’s home or seen anything suspicious or unusual.

Investigators are currently struggling to find leads. A neighbor told us she saw police search Milota’s property and tow a vehicle parked there.

So far, there has been no sign of Milota nor the vehicle she was driving when she dropped her son off. Police said it was a brown Buick Enclave with the license plate HCA7418.

“I’m praying she just got fed up and left to be on her own,” another neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told 19 News.

I read a couple of the articles on this case and can’t find the year of the car that she drove. Here’s a 2008:

Still no update in search for Medina Township woman
Jane Milota, of Medina Township, has been missing for two week, and clues as to her whereabouts have yet to arise, according to investigators.

Medina Township police Chief Todd Zieja said Sunday his officers still await case leads.

"Sadly, it's still been nothing," he said. "I know (officers) have remained in contact with the family but there's just been nothing. No sightings of the car or anything."

Investigators say no sign of foul play has been discovered nor any apparent motive for Milota to leave the area.

NO NEW INFORMATION ON MISSING MEDINA COUNTY WOMAN

There is still no new information on the whereabouts of a Medina County woman who went missing two weeks ago. 53-year old Jane Milota was last seen on August 9th, in Westfield Center, dropping her son off at work. Investigators say there is no evidence of foul play or any apparent motive for Milota to leave the area. Milota did reportedly withdraw $1,000 from the bank two days before she vanished, but beyond that there are no real leads. Medina Township Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Prayer vigil held for missing Medina County woman

The family and friends of a missing Medina Township woman held a prayer vigil Tuesday night on the Medina Public Square as they continue their search for answers.

Missing flyers have been posted around Medina County, asking for the public’s assistance to find 53-year-old Jane Milota who vanished 15 days ago.

“I didn’t know what to do so I called the cops, especially when she wasn’t at the ER. That’s when the panic set in,” said Warren Milota.

He says his wife is a native of Denmark, and initially, there was a theory that she may have decided to go back, but U.S. Homeland Security found no evidence of that.

“The news is out there and her mother knows and her brother knows over there in Denmark, and I’m sure they’re having as many problems as we are over here, and everybody is looking for her so I can’t imagine why she just wouldn’t come home,” he said.

Investigators say their efforts to track Jane’s movements have been complicated by the fact that she did not have her cell phone with her and does not have a debit card or credit card.

The OnStar on her brown Buick Enclave is no longer active, so it can’t be tracked.

Medina Township police are hoping her Ohio license plate, HCA7418, will show up on their radar and they have cast a wide net across the country.

“Just putting it out there to see if they can look through their license plate readers to see if they picked it up of her traveling from place to place,” said Sgt. Todd Zieja.

Some of Jane’s friends have suggested that she had been dealing with a health crisis, but police say they’ve been unable to confirm that claim or other issues raised on social media sites.

“There’s no indication of any foul play. At least as of this moment in time, we’re still going to move forward, we’re still trying to reach out to everybody, try to figure out exactly what happened and just to make sure that Miss Milota is safe,” said Sgt. Zieja.

The fear of the unknown is causing sleepless nights for the family and friends of Jane.

“That’s she not going to come back, that something happened to her, I have absolutely no idea if she took off. I mean, that’s fine, but she’s got to call somebody, but the biggest thing is just not knowing,” said her husband.

The search for a missing Medina County woman enters day 17, with few leads

The bizarre disappearance of a Medina Township woman continues to baffle police, as the search enters day 17.

Connie Laslo tells 19 News she just can’t figure it out. “Everything seemed fine,” said Laslo, Jane’s close friend and neighbor. “When it’s somebody close it’s scary.”

Laslo was one of the last people to speak with Jane. When asked if Jane said anything that stuck out or seemed odd, Laslo said their conversation was pretty normal.

“(There was) no incident or anything. Everything just seemed normal. (There were) no complaints,” said Laslo.

Where is Jane? Is she safe? Is someone else involved? These are all questions that keep Laslo up at night.

Anyone have any thoughts about Jane?

With her leaving her phone behind I tend to lean towards her leaving on her own. With the cash withdrawal I hope she is just out there taking some time away to herself. However, the phone left at home could be accidental/coincidental, plus she "normally" took cash out since she didn't use a debit card.....
BUT I don't really have any hinky radar toward foul play. Car accident is also possible, maybe.

Personally, I am on the fence with this case. Some things don't make sense to me, like she withdrew funds from an atm but yet any activity can't be tracked. She has no legal identification (expired) so for about four years she is driving to and from work with no license? Things that just stand out to me.

I tend to lean on her disappearing on her own, but the car accident is still a strong possibility.

I would be really surprised if it wasn’t one of those two scenarios.

Could she have not realized that her license was expired? That is an awful long time to not know that your license is expired. One time mine expired and I didn’t know it until I went to purchase a handgun and they wouldn’t sell it to me! I was so embarrassed. But that was only a two week lapse.

we have found out that here there is a LOT to go through sometimes if she was here with a green card. If the green card needs to be renewed before the driver's license expires, a lot of dmv's don't even want to touch it. I know a person that is here on a "permanent" resident card, but since 9/11 they actually have to be renewed, but on a different schedule than our driver's licenses are (every 6 years). She might have just given up on it. The person i know lives out in the country and the local dmv doesn't want to renew her license because of it and she has to come here to get it renewed where people are more familiar with the process.

She may not have. I did find a link to her facebook and what bothers me is that her phone number is posted. I don't have facebook and I could see the number but not all of her posts. I also came across a link for a youtube video that was titled she has been found, and his "reading" it was by brianspredictions. I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with this person, I have known about the prediction site for years. I just hope she left on her own and is safe somewhere.

I don't know why, but the brianspredictions guy pops up on Google all the time with "found" nonsense. I don't know if he's predicting they'll be found or what, but every one I've seen the person has still been missing.

I’m so glad she’s safe and didn’t have an accident somewhere!

According to officials within the police department, 53-year-old Jane Milota was found Wednesday with her car, which also went missing early last month.

Police have yet to release any additional information as to where the woman has been for the three weeks in which she was missing.
