Missing Endangered Alert Issued for 13-Year-Old Wisconsin Boy Who Took Family Van and Gun

Wisconsin authorities have issued a Missing Endangered Person Alert for a 13-year-old boy who has now been missing for more than 48 hours.

James Yoblonski took the family fan early Monday morning and drove away from his Reedsburg home, as CrimeOnline reported. The van was later found on US 12 near Devil’s Lake State Park, and search crews found his cell phone and a campsite with some of his belongings nearby.

But they’ve not found the boy.

“It’s a very wooded terrain. The woods [are] very thick, there’s rock ledges, there’s cliffs,” Sauk Sheriff Chip Meister told WKOW. “You could be six, eight feet from another deputy and you can’t see that deputy — so that’s how thick it is.”

Meister said more than 40 officials are participating in the search along with both a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft from the Department of Natural Resources.

William Yoblonski, the boy’s father, told WKOW that his son “is not someone who would run away” and called the situation “dire.” He said he’s not concerned that the teen took the van — or, apparently, a gun that is missing from the home.

Rainy weather hampered ground crews searching for the boy on Tuesday, and the search ended at dark but was set to resume Wednesday morning.

‘We just want him home’: Reedsburg teen missing almost two years later

A Sauk County father says he wants his son, who went missing almost two years ago, to come home.

Bill Yoblonski loses sleep at night thinking about his son James.

“He was 13 when he went missing. He’s 15 now,” Bill said.

James was last seen on June 12, 2023 at his Sauk County home. Investigators believe he drove the family’s vehicle to Baraboo and left it abandoned near Highway 12. Bill is frustrated about how his son’s case was handled.

“A lot of things should have been done differently,” Bill said. “Do I blame them for not finding him right away? Yes, 100% I do.”

Sauk County investigators say they have spent months working on this case and communicated with Bill a few weeks ago.

“We have not withheld information from him,” Detective Lt. Scott Steinhorst said. “He’s been upset about personal belongings that we have that may or may not be evidence, but we try to accommodate him by getting pictures off those devices and getting those to him.”

As a parent himself the detective lieutenant could only imagine what the Yoblonskis’ are going through.

“It drives us more to find a resolve in the case, but it’s been frustrating because what I alluded to before the leads that we have had before turned up empty,” the detective lieutenant explained.

This has left Bill feeling heartbroken, making each day harder to get through.

“If it wasn’t for having the other kids at home,” he explained. “I would have given up a long time ago. They are the ones that keep me going and push to get through.”

The pleading dad has a message for his son.

“I want to let him know that he is not in trouble. He is not going to be in trouble for leaving, we just want him home,” Bill said.

The two-year anniversary of James going missing is next month. On June 12th, Bill along with his three other children hope to go back to the area where law enforcement searched. He says there will be lots of emotions.

Loved ones of Sauk Co. teen James Yoblonski gather 2 years after he went missing

Loved ones gathered for a Reedsburg teen who went missing two years ago. The teen’s dad is hopeful his son will be brought home safely.

Reedsburg dad Bill Yoblonski is missing his 13-year-old son grow up.

“I think about him all the time, in the evenings or at home, cooking dinner, at the shop, at school when I pick up my daughter. He’s on my mind all the time,” Bill said.

“We did a public search and me, and friends have gone and done other searches,” Bill said. “I do not believe that he was ever in the woods. We have done searches in those areas.”

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said there are no new leads.

“I did not expect things to take this long,” Detective Lt. Scott Steinhorst explained. “I was hopeful that we would find something in the digital evidence that we analyzed but unfortunately it wasn’t there.”

Officials working on the case hope to solve it.

“I am hopeful that we will get a tip that is tangible that we can follow up on that will lead us somewhere,” Detective Lt. Steinhorst said. “Unfortunately, at this time it’s a waiting game until that happens which is why we want to keep it in the public’s eye.”

As time passes Bill yearns for his son to come home.

“I can feel it in my heart that he is still alive,” Bill said.

Two years pass after disappearance of Sauk Co. teen James Yoblonski

Thursday marks two years since a Sauk County teenager went missing.

James Yoblonski left his home early in the morning on June 12, 2023, and hasn't been seen since.

Bill Yoblonski, James' father, said each day has gotten harder since his son went missing.

"I just want him home," said Bill.

I've gotten where anniversary remarks in so many threads mean little. It's all they get and all they have. WHERE ARE LE?? Updates??? What the EFF are you doing or have you DONE the last year??

Vigils and anniversaries, that's all the families have. I think it's a crock of sh*t. LE needs to step up and they can certainly say what they have been DOING for the last how LONG!! O

Sorry but it maddens me. I don't even react to these "annual things" any longer. I guess it's the most notice some cases get though. This one has NEVER had the attn it should.

His dad needs to align with someone who can raise some he77 and some awareness and demand some answers!! I don't tknow what happened here, there are no answers but that needs to happen because clearly in this one, they aren't doing SH*T. I cannot BELIEVE this is two years without some more answers!!!

Family marks 16th birthday of missing Sauk County teen last seen in June 2023

Wednesday marks the 16th birthday of Sauk County teen James Yoblonski, who was last seen in June 2023, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is once again asking the public for assistance in finding him.

Yoblonski, who would be turning 16, is not celebrating with his family, making this year another heartbreaking milestone for them.

His father, Bill, has said that he wants to reunite with his son and has never stopped searching for him.

“Today is your birthday, and we all love and miss you so much. I want you to know that your family has not forgotten about you, and we are spending the day together to remember your special day. My life is not complete without you, and I need you to come home.”

It is believed that Yoblonski may still be in the local or surrounding areas.
