The original plan was to rob Jamal White's mother, according to suspect Corey Williams.

Williams claimed Jamal's mother was a known drug dealer who flaunted her money.

Williams drove his girlfriend's Jeep, and the other two suspects brought guns.

But when they did not see Jamal's mother, they went to Jamal's father's house to rob him instead.

Surveillance video shows the 14-year-old and 38-year-old jump out of their car with guns drawn.

When Jamal's father ran inside, they grabbed the boy. Video from a neighbor captured his screams.

The kidnappers sped off to Williams' house.

The 38-year-old called Jamal's mother and demanded $100,000 and jewelry in exchange for the boy. They were to meet at a nearby park.

Jamal later told police he heard his mother say she would come pick him up, but he teared up in the interview when he said she never showed up.

Williams told investigators the other two kidnappers talked about hurting Jamal to show they were serious. But that never happened.

When an Amber Alert went out around midnight, the other two left Williams' house.

When police moved in on the duplex the next day, Williams hid in the attic.

Jamal was safely recovered in the upstairs unit, and Williams was found and arrested.

The 14-year-old was later arrested at his house, and a black handgun was found under a couch cushion in the basement.

Milwaukee boy kidnapped near 61st and Hustis, man charged in court

A Milwaukee man accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old boy on the city's north side made his initial appearance in court on Friday. His bond was set at $100,000.

Court filings show 25-year-old Corey Williams is charged with kidnapping, taking hostages and contributing to the delinquency of a child – all felonies, and all as a party to a crime.

"The evidence against you is you – you pretty much admitted to everything," Court Commissioner Barry Phillips said during Williams' initial appearance. "Your version of the events was this was supposed to be the robbery of an alleged drug dealer, and when that didn't work out, the plan switched."

Williams' defense attorney argued the crime was not his choice.

"He gave a full confession. He implicated on the individuals there and said he did not have the intent to kidnap this child," said Attorney Kendra Schmeling. "He was essentially the driver of the vehicle."

The Milwaukee Police Department said, in addition to Williams, a 14-year-old boy and 38-year-old man were arrested. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. No other suspects are being sought at this time.

Prosecutors said Williams told police he was "originally promised" $10,000 for his role in the robbery, but "demanded more" once the boy was taken. He said the mother never showed up for their meeting and, once they became aware of the Amber Alert, he said the other two people left him with the boy at the home near 39th and Lloyd.

Three Men Arrested in Connection with Abduction of 7-Year-Old Jamal White in Milwaukee

One of the suspects, 25-year-old Corey Williams, was arrested at a residence in the 2000 block of North 39th Street, where Jamal was located. Williams was taken into custody at 5:45 p.m. on July 12 and is currently being held for a probation violation, police confirmed.

Additionally, two 27-year-old men were arrested at the home on West Hustis Street, the site of the abduction.

One individual was booked on tentative charges of resisting and obstructing an officer, while the second is being held on a tentative charge of second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Jamal White Jr.’s uncle, Jamel White — the twin brother of the child’s father — has been arrested and booked in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

According to official records, Jamel White is currently in custody on pending charges.

Authorities have not yet released specific details regarding the nature of the charges or how they may be connected to the abduction case.

Police have not provided further details on the arrests or whether additional suspects are being sought. As of Sunday, formal charges had not been publicly confirmed.

So does that mean the twin brother of the father and the father (Jamel and Jamel White) were both arrested or is that just telling us the uncle has been arrested. It's not that clear as they say "has" not "have".

So there are three "Jamals/Jamels in this story altogether, including the victim. The two brothers plus Corey Williams are now all in custody?

Sorry, just catching up on this clusterf***. So they demanded $100k from the mother, who is a drug dealer? And a 14 yo was the driver?

His father has not been arrested.

His father has not been arrested.
This (the bit I bolded) seems to indicate the father is in custody as well as the uncle. Jamal is the uncle and Jamel is the father, both 27 year old twins.

Jamel is the father, Jamal is the uncle no?
Or is Corey Williams the uncle? I guess I am confused but the mum has been arrested too.

Public records show Shavon Williams is being held in the Milwaukee County Jail. The district attorney's office told FOX6 News that criminal charges are pending. The boy later identified Williams from a photo as the man who drove the Jeep, per the complaint.

In custody

What they're saying:
In an interview with detectives, the complaint states Williams said he and others planned to rob the boy's mother.

No. Jamel is the uncle. The boy has the same name as his father

Jamal JUNIOR is the son of Jamal SENIOR...
JamEl is the uncle. Twin brother of Jamal Senior. So paternal uncle. Arrested on charges NOT directly related to the abduction.

Corey Williams, 25, was arrested. Charged with kidnapping, taking a hostage, and contributing to the delinquency of a child. He was driving the vehicle.
The 14-year-old is supposedly the one who made the plan to rob the mother. He is the one who physically grabbed Jamal.
The 38-year-old is the one who called Jamal's mom and demanded the ransom. Also jumped out of the vehicle and chased Jamal Sr.

JamEl, the paternal uncle, was arrested for recklessly endangering safety and use of a dangerous weapon. Charges NOT related to Jamal's kidnapping.

Shavon Williams, Jamal's mother, is currently in custody on a probation violation. Police say she was uncooperative and impeded the investigation. She has not been charged. There is speculation only that Shavon and Corey may be related.

Thanks for explaining.

I see where I got confused now. As well as the similar names, both the father and uncle were both originally arrested with the father released at the end of the day. He explains it later in article previously linked in post above.

MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Police have arrested three men at two separate locations linked to the abduction of 7-year-old Jamal White Jr.

According to arrest records made public Sunday, the arrests were carried out at both the location where Jamal was found and the home at West Hustis Street from where he was abducted.

Jamal D. White Sr., the father of 7-year-old Jamal White Jr., took to social media to express frustration over how he has been treated during the investigation.
“Y’all are foul for spreading these false narratives,” White wrote. “Even the police are treating me like I’m the bad guy. All that’s ever mattered to me is my son being okay.”
White said he spent all of Saturday in police custody being questioned, despite fully cooperating and sharing everything he knew at the time.
“I still haven’t even seen my son face-to-face,” he added. “They had me locked up all day while my child was still missing.”

Second adult charged in kidnapping of 7-year-old Milwaukee boy

A red solo cup, a security system application and video on his own cellphone combined with the statement of a suspected co-conspirator is among the evidence Milwaukee County prosecutors used to charge a second adult in the kidnapping of of a 7-year-old Milwaukee boy.

Prosecutors charged Fabian Johnson Friday with a single count of kidnapping in the case which sparked an Amber Alert.

According to a search warrant affidavit filed in the case, the admitted getaway driver, Corey Williams, identified Johnson, 38, as one of the two people seen on surveillance video jumping out of a Jeep Renegade with handguns July 11 outside the little boy's home.

On Sunday, July 20, a Milwaukee County commissioner set Johnson's bond at $200,000.

In Wisconsin, jailed individuals must pay the entire bond amount in order to be released from custody.

Johnson and Williams are due back in court July 24 for preliminary hearings, where prosecutors could call investigators to testify and potentially reveal additional information and evidence in the case.

'Serious, scary, terrifying': Teen accused in boy's kidnapping appears in court

A 14-year-old boy appeared in children's court, accused of devising a robbery plan and kidnapping a 7-year-old child. The kidnapping was captured on surveillance video.

Prosecutors want the 14-year-old's case moved to adult court. The state filed a waiver petition, which Milwaukee County Court Commissioner Katryna Childs Rhodes decided will move forward with a waiver hearing. A judge will decide whether to move the teen's case from children's court to adult court.

In court, the teen's mother spoke.

"I would just like him to come home," she said.

Childs Rhodes ordered the teen remain in secure detention.

"You stand before me presumed innocent. However, these are incredibly serious, scary, terrifying, quite frankly, allegations, involved in the kidnaping of a 7-year-old. It is allegedly caught on tape. And it allegedly happened while you were possessing a weapon. All of that is incredibly dangerous. I don't feel safe releasing you out into the community at this time," Childs Rhodes said.

According to investigators, the surveillance video shows the teen chase the little boy down the driveway, then carry him into the white Jeep. Prosecutors say the teen was armed with a handgun and wearing a mask.

Milwaukee mother of abducted 7-year-old Jamal White will not face charges

The mother of a 7-year-old boy who was abducted at gunpoint in July will not face charges related to the incident.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office confirmed the mother of Jamal White was no longer facing the possibility of criminal charges in the July 11 abduction of her child.

"The investigation into (the mother) is now complete and we will not be issuing criminal charges against her," Jeffrey Altenburg, the Chief Deputy District Attorney and the office's spokesperson, said Oct. 2.

Altenburg said Jamal's mother remains in Wisconsin Department of Corrections custody due to a violation of a probation hold. She is listed in the Milwaukee County jail roster in an online database.

Prosecutors charged three people in the abduction of the boy known as Baby J, that authorities say began as a plan to rob his mother. Those include a 14-year-old who authorities say created the robbery plan, and Corey Williams, 25, and Fabian Johnson, 38.

A 14 year old came up with the plan? I hope they all get severe sentences for this terrifying crime. And they all need to grow up and get law abiding work when they are released.

I think the odds of this bunch doing anything law abiding is unlikely.

They claimed the kid's mom is a drug dealer. They knew the mom and dad's numbers and/or addresses it appears. They probably all know each other in one way or another.

Mom is not charged in relation to the crime but is in jail on a probation hold.

I'm glad this child is safe but he is being raised in a bad environment it would appear, has a mother in jail, etc. Far from ideal.
