The Arizona Department of Public Safety issued a Turquoise Alert for 21-year-old Isabella Comas on Tuesday night.

DPS said she was reported missing after she didn’t pick up her friend for work like she usually does. She also didn’t show up for work on Monday, and no one could reach her by phone.

Troopers said her cellphone was tracked and found, but there was no sign of Comas. Avondale PD said her car, a red 2011 Hyundai Sonata, was recovered on Tuesday night near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Person of interest in case of missing Avondale woman reportedly taken into custody

The man identified by police as a person of interest in the search for missing Avondale woman Isabella Comas has reportedly been taken into custody on charges related to the case.

The Avondale Police Department revealed Thursday it spoke with Tommy Rodriguez, 39, a romantic partner of Comas, and that he is considered a person of interest in the case.

Rodriguez was later taken into custody on charges of auto theft and criminal damage related to Comas’ car, according to ABC15.

The TV station reported that Rodriguez is being held on a $50,000 secured bond.

Additionally, court records obtained by ABC15 showed that Rodriguez has a lengthy criminal history. He previously served over a decade in prison for second-degree murder and pleaded guilty in 2020 to stalking after he threatened an ex-girlfriend with multiple weapons, including a machete and a hammer.
There it is. The boyfriend.

Isabella Comas' parents speak out after person of interest bonds out

The search for Isabella Comas is still ongoing, two months after she was reported missing.

The 21-year-old's parents sat down with ABC15 on Saturday, days after the only person of interest in the case bonded out of custody. The pair is appealing to the public for help, while also expressing their concerns with Tommy Rodriguez now out on electronic monitoring.

While the investigation continues, Comas' parents asked ABC15 not to share their faces or names.

"The unknowns are so daunting, and they're so painful," said Comas' mom.

She described the last two months as a rollercoaster, her family hopes will end soon.

"My daughter, no reason," Comas' dad. "She's only 21, there's no excuse. There's no reason. Yes, she was living her life."

While the commissioner acknowledged the evidence mentioned in the court records, he ultimately decided to give Rodriguez two bonds totaling $50,000 dollars.

"I'm not inclined to give the state a bond as high as it's requesting on unrelated, uncharged, unarrested allegations," said Commissioner William Cawthon.

After nearly two months in jail, Rodriguez bonded out of custody on March 9.

His release conditions include electronic monitoring and surrendering any passports.

"Very disappointing, how the system let him walk out," said Comas' dad.

Last week, Comas' parents learned that Rodriguez had bonded out of custody from ABC15.

"It threw us for a loop," said Comas' mom. "It's been a hard week just finding out that he was able to walk the streets again, considering all of the evidence."

She said she did not know much about Rodriguez until recently.

"When Isabella did mention that, you know, she had this acquaintance; there be times, of course, as a parent, you're going to ask more questions," said Comas' mom. "I didn't know what I didn't know until all of this just kind of exploded in our faces."

The 21-year-old's parents told ABC15 that while Coma's car was found, her keys have not been recovered.

The two shared many concerns about Rodriguez's being out of custody.

"When I heard that he had a monitoring bracelet on, I just, respectfully, I think it's a joke," said Comas' mom. "Especially with the charges at hand."

The two are appealing to the public once again, asking for information or even a video that could help the case.

"Somebody sees something," said Comas' dad. "Somebody saw him. Somebody know something. Please, like as father, we need your help."

Court documents detail past arrests for person of interest in the disappearance of Isabella Comas

Newly obtained court documents detail two previous arrests of the person of interest in the disappearance of Isabella Comas, including one where Tommy Rodriguez allegedly threatened to "cut" someone's husband "into pieces".

The ABC15 Investigators have been poring through court records and reaching out to Valley police departments to learn more about Rodriguez's criminal history.

Our team previously reported that the 39-year-old had served time in prison after pleading guilty to murder and stalking.

Newly obtained court documents show that while he was on probation for the 2020 stalking case, he pleaded guilty to violating an order of protection.

A Glendale arrest report said Rodriguez showed up to the victim’s apartment and allegedly threatened to “cut her husband into pieces", telling her if he couldn’t have her, no one could.

Court records show Rodriguez served six months in jail for violating his probation. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office also confirmed he was in jail following his arrest by Glendale Police in 2023.

The adult probation office also wrote in a report that Rodriguez's "...stalking behavior indicates a pattern of problematic behavior."

In 2024, Rodriguez was arrested again for assault. The Glendale arrest report said the victim was a “romantic” interest. Ultimately, court documents show the victim did not desire prosecution, and the case was dismissed.

Both the 2023 and 2024 arrests were referred to the Glendale municipal court, not the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Rodriguez is currently still on probation for the 2020 case.

With his criminal history and what was found in Comas' car, prosecutors asked for a higher bond when Rodriguez was arrested in January.

"We asked for 100 thousand dollars cash," said Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. "The court set 25 thousand dollars secured."

The Commissioner ultimately decided on two $25,000 secured bonds at Rodriguez's initial appearance.

He was able to bond out March 9 and was released on electronic monitoring.

One week later, ABC15 saw him in court as he learned the dates of his next hearings.

"Tommy, you know 100% where she is," said Comas' mom in an interview with ABC15.

The 21-year-old's parents have raised concerns with the only person of interest being out of custody.

"I'm concerned for the women of our community," said Comas' mom.

As the search continues, ABC15 reached out to MCAO and Avondale Police. Our team was told there are no updates and no new recommended charges.
