The Arizona Department of Public Safety issued a Turquoise Alert for 21-year-old Isabella Comas on Tuesday night.

DPS said she was reported missing after she didn’t pick up her friend for work like she usually does. She also didn’t show up for work on Monday, and no one could reach her by phone.

Troopers said her cellphone was tracked and found, but there was no sign of Comas. Avondale PD said her car, a red 2011 Hyundai Sonata, was recovered on Tuesday night near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road.

The turquoise alert was established due to the murder of Emily Pike. Kudos to AZ for getting things passed fast and creating such.

So she was reported wearing one set of clothing but when they found the surveillance video, she was wearing something different. Makes one wonder who gave the initial clothing description and how and when she changed. And where. Did she go home unbeknownst to someone or was the person reporting what she was wearing wrong?

I mean it in the nicest way but the hair color and the nose ring should make it easy for anyone seeing her to identify her.

Avondale is a major bedroom suburb of Phoenix per Google. Kind of figured, there are several "dales".

Praying she turns up safe.

Isabella Comas: Police name boyfriend person of interest in her disappearance

The Avondale Police Department says 21-year-old Isabella Comas' boyfriend is a person of interest in her disappearance.

Comas went missing on Jan. 11 at around 3 p.m. when she was last seen leaving a friend's home near Van Buren Street and Avondale Boulevard.

On Jan. 12, Comas' phone was found at a Phoenix recycling center. The next day, a Turquoise Alert was issued for Comas.

On Jan. 15, police said Comas' boyfriend, Tommy Rodriguez, 39, of Phoenix, was deemed a person of interest. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office website, he's been arrested on unrelated charges.

Person of interest ID’d in case of missing woman from Avondale

The Avondale Police Department confirmed Thursday that it has identified a person of interest in connection with the disappearance of 21-year-old Isabella Comas, who sparked a Turquoise Alert earlier this week.

Authorities said they spoke with a “romantic partner,” who was identified as a 39-year-old man from Phoenix. Arizona’s Family is not naming him because it’s unclear if he’s facing charges in connection with her disappearance.

In a department news release, detectives also said Comas’ phone was tracked to a recycling facility in Phoenix.

“We will continue to share information as it is developed once we can ensure it won’t be a hindrance to the investigation,” said Ofc. Jaret Redfearn in a prepared statement. “We greatly appreciate the community’s ongoing support and encourage anyone with information to continue responding to her Turquoise Alert. The tips received so far have been extremely helpful in moving this case forward.”

Person of interest in case of missing Avondale woman reportedly taken into custody

The man identified by police as a person of interest in the search for missing Avondale woman Isabella Comas has reportedly been taken into custody on charges related to the case.

The Avondale Police Department revealed Thursday it spoke with Tommy Rodriguez, 39, a romantic partner of Comas, and that he is considered a person of interest in the case.

Rodriguez was later taken into custody on charges of auto theft and criminal damage related to Comas’ car, according to ABC15.

The TV station reported that Rodriguez is being held on a $50,000 secured bond.

Additionally, court records obtained by ABC15 showed that Rodriguez has a lengthy criminal history. He previously served over a decade in prison for second-degree murder and pleaded guilty in 2020 to stalking after he threatened an ex-girlfriend with multiple weapons, including a machete and a hammer.

Isabella Comas: Search for missing woman expands to Gila County

Police say 21-year-old Isabella Comas, who was last seen leaving a friend's house in Avondale, is believed to be seriously injured.

Avondale Police officials say physical evidence led them into Gila County, where they are trying to narrow in on a location where Comas could be.

Authorities say time is of the essence to help her.

"Right now, we consider [Comas] to be seriously injured, and it's very important that we find her as quickly as possible," said Officer Daniel Benavidez of the Avondale Police Department.

Avondale police say they are working with authorities in Gila County to aid in the search.

"We've partnered with the Gila County Search and Rescue teams because we believe that may be a place where Isabella is," Benavidez said. "I can't go into precise locations of where she may be, but we are looking in that area."

Reports from a friend and Rodriguez himself indicate the couple fought the morning Comas went missing. According to court documents, a person matching Rodriguez's description was seen on surveillance video in Globe, driving Comas' car in the early morning hours of Jan. 12. This was the day after Comas was reported missing by a friend who expected her to pick them up for work.

"We put all these circumstances together—the idea that Isabella was last seen in her vehicle, she was last known to be around her boyfriend, and she had a fight with her boyfriend—and that's a circumstance that alerts us as well," Benavidez said.

Flock safety cameras showed the vehicle returning to the Phoenix area from Globe later in the day on Jan. 12. The car was eventually found in Phoenix on Jan. 13 after a resident reported a vehicle matching the description listed on the Turquoise Alert issued for Comas.

When police processed the car, they found bloodstains in multiple locations. The vehicle was missing the entire passenger seat (minus the headrest), the glove compartment, and the lining of the trunk. Inside, investigators also found trash bags, a tarp, gas canisters, and bows and arrows.

"We saw items in the car that could be used to seriously hurt someone and we also observed bloodstains in the vehicle," Benavidez said. "Believing that Isabella was the last one to be in that vehicle, that's what makes us so concerned for her safety."

Missing Arizona woman's boyfriend indicted on taking, damaging her car

A man described as the romantic partner of Isabella Comas, who has been missing for more than two weeks, was indicted on charges of stealing and damaging her car while police continue to search for the 21-year-old woman.

The felony charges, announced Jan. 29, more formally link Phoenix resident Tommy Rodriguez, 39, to Comas. Shortly after the case began with her Jan. 11 disappearance he has been considered a person of interest to police.

Jaret Redfearn, a spokesman for the Avondale Police Department, said investigators continue to search for Comas and what happened to her, though the focus has moved away from Globe, at least for the moment.

In earlier court proceedings, a prosecutor asked for Rodriguez to be held on a $100,000 cash bond, arguing he had an incentive to flee and pointing to what she described as a history of domestic-violence offenses.

The prosecutor argued that Rodriguez went to “great lengths” to destroy evidence linking him to Comas’ vehicle and said she believed he likely knew where Comas was.

Rodriguez told the court he had been cooperating and said he did not try to run. He acknowledged he had been out of state but said he had a scheduled work flight and returned to Arizona to speak with investigators.

Commissioner William Cawthon instead set a $25,000 secured bond on the initial charges and ordered conditions that included electronic monitoring and passport surrender.

New photos released in investigation into missing Avondale woman

Avondale police have released new photographs in an effort to find anyone in Gila County who may know something about the disappearance of Isabella Comas.

Tommy Rodriguez, 39, had been romantically involved with the missing woman and has been charged with stealing Comas' vehicle. Police have described Rodriguez as a "person of interest" in the case.

Avondale police have released new photos of the person who was driving Comas' car in the Globe area between 1:30 and 3 a.m. on Jan. 12. Police said investigators believe the driver was Rodriguez.

Police said a large quantity of blood was found in the Comas' car and its front passenger seat had been removed. The seat has not still been recovered.

Investigators are asking anyone in the Globe area on Jan. 12 to check their security surveillance to see if they have footage of Comas, her car or the person seen driving the vehicle.

"The community has played an important role in the progress of our investigation," police wrote in a statement. "Their response to the Turquoise Alert and the tips they have been providing to us have been incredibly helpful, and we ask that they remain diligent with us in locating Isabella."

Avondale PD: Isabella Comas had ‘life-threatening’ injury, blood found in car

Authorities believe missing Avondale woman Isabella Comas, 21, suffered injuries that “may be unsurvivable” without treatment after discovering blood in her abandoned car.

The Avondale Police Department said Thursday that detectives still consider Tommy Rodriguez, 39, of Phoenix, Comas’ boyfriend, remains a person of interest in her disappearance.

Detectives said surveillance video shows a person they believe is Rodriguez driving Comas’ vehicle in the Globe area between 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Jan. 12. Police said the vehicle later turned up abandoned in Phoenix.

Authorities found “a large quantity of blood” inside the car and said someone had removed the front passenger seat, leading them to believe Comas “sustained a life-threatening injury that, if left untreated, may be unsurvivable,” the department said in a statement.

Search and rescue efforts have taken place in the Valley and Globe areas, but Comas has yet to be found.

Police asked anyone who was in the Globe area on Jan. 12 or who has video from that area to review footage for Comas, her vehicle or the person shown in the released images.

Authorities also asked for help locating the missing front passenger seat, which has brown cloth upholstery and may contain bloodstains.

Mother of missing Isabella Comas: Person of interest is a stalker, not boyfriend

The mother of a missing Avondale woman is asking for the public’s help finding her daughter and pushing back on details investigators have released about the case.

Comas’ mother, identified only as Mo, spoke with Arizona’s Family by phone and said the man police have identified as her daughter’s boyfriend was not a romantic partner.

“It really threw us off to hear the whole relationship thing in the media, they did have an acquaintance with each other, but there was no loving relationship,” Mo said.

Mo said she believes 39-year-old Tommy Rodriguez may have been pursuing her daughter. She said Comas told her she had made a friend with an older man, but Mo said she never met Rodriguez the way she had met Comas’ other friends and past boyfriends.

“I believe he might have been trying to pursue her,” Mo said.

Mo said friends of Comas also raised concerns about Rodriguez’s behavior.

“We spoke to some of her friends and they all shared concern for her when it came to Tommy. She would be hanging out with girlfriends or friends from school and he would show up unexpectedly causing a scene. He was very jealous,” Mo said.

Mo said she believes Comas went to meet Rodriguez to end things with him before she disappeared.

Rodriguez is the only person of interest identified in the case. Detectives believe he stole Comas’ car and dumped it in Phoenix the day after she went missing. Police said they found blood inside the car and that the passenger seat was missing.

Comas’ phone was found at a recycling center in Phoenix. Police said Rodriguez had the phone and gave it to her family, who then turned it over to investigators. Mo said that was her first encounter with him.

“All I can say is that he presented himself as a friend and it wasn’t until later when I realized who we were dealing with,” Mo said.

Isabella Comas: Renewed search for missing 21-year-old as boyfriend remains in custody

A renewed call to action has been issued to the public in the case of 21-year-old Isabella Comas, who has been missing for nearly two months.

Tommy Rodriguez, 39, who police identify as Isabella's boyfriend, remains in custody on charges related to her case. While Rodriguez has been named a person of interest, there has been no major break in the investigation since his arrest on Jan. 15.

Police believe someone may have seen something in mid-January that could help bring Isabella home.

"Ultimately our goal is to find Isabella and we haven’t received any tips in a couple of weeks," said Officer Jaret Redfearn of the Avondale Police Department.

Avondale Police are calling on the public for assistance 51 days after Comas was last seen. Redfearn said the Globe area remains a focus of the investigation due to surveillance video from the morning of Jan. 12. That footage showed Comas' vehicle at a Globe gas station and a man driving it, who looked like Rodriguez, their sole person of interest.

"Also we want to expand that reach," Redfearn said. "We’re not just interested in the Globe area when it comes to this case, because her vehicle was found near 67th Avenue and Indian School in Phoenix and her phone was found at a totally separate location at a recycling plant."

Court documents show that a large amount of blood found in her vehicle after it was recovered was later confirmed as a match for Comas. Investigators also found other concerning evidence inside the car.

"The passenger seat being removed led our investigators to believe that she potentially suffered from a mortal wound, a very serious injury," Redfearn said.

Police are asking the public to think back to the days surrounding Jan. 12 for any potential sightings of Comas, Rodriguez, or her red car.

"Did I see a man and a woman in an argument? Did I see a man dragging something? Did I see a man removing anything from a vehicle? Specifically a vehicle seat from a vehicle? Did I see an abandoned vehicle seat somewhere?" Redfearn asked.

Rodriguez remains in custody on theft and criminal damage charges related to the alleged theft of Isabella's car. An active Turquoise Alert remains in effect for Isabella.

Person of interest in case of missing Isabella Comas posts bond

The man considered a person of interest in the case of missing Avondale woman Isabella Comas is out of jail.

Arizona’s Family has learned Tommy Rodriguez posted bond Monday afternoon on charges related to her case. Officials said he had two open bonds, $25,000 each, at 1 p.m. He was released with an ankle monitor.

Rodriguez was arrested on Jan. 15 and booked into jail on accusations of criminal damage, auto theft, and a probation violation, all felonies.

Exactly! Or he cuts the thing off!
Cutting is "supposed" to trigger and instant notification to whomever is supposed to be doing the monitoring. When we see so many cutting and running with quite a bit of time before they are even noticed, shows just how poorly the monitoring system is.
