Haleigh was last known to be sleeping in her family's trailer in the 200 block of Green Lane in the area of Hermit's Cove in Satsuma, Florida, late in the evening on February 9, 2009. She went to bed at 8:00 p.m. Her father's live-in girlfriend of five months, Misty Janette Croslin (sometimes identified in the media by her later married name, Misty Cummings), went to sleep in the same room at 10:00 p.m. Haleigh's three-year-old brother was also sleeping in that room.

Haleigh's father, Ronald Lemyles Cummings, finished working second shift and arrived home sometime after 3:00 a.m. on February 10. Misty told him she'd just discovered Haleigh was missing from her bed. The rear door to the trailer was several inches ajar and the screen door had been propped open with a cinder block. Ronald and Misty called 911 at 3:37 a.m. to report Haleigh's disappearance.

The police found no sign of forced entry to the trailer, but they are uncertain whether the back door was locked. Ronald and Misty have insisted that it was, and Ronald maintains the trailer was broken into.

Haleigh's younger brother told investigators that a man dressed in black had come to their home that night and taken his sister. Authorities aren't sure how much credence to give to his story, given his age. An extensive search of the area turned up no sign of Haleigh. Her father stated she wouldn't have left home by herself at night, as she is afraid of the dark.

In October 2009, six months into the marriage, Ronald filed for divorce. He cited irreconcilable differences as the reason, mainly the stress caused by Haleigh's disappearance and the subsequent police investigation and media attention. The divorce became final within days; since Ronald and Misty had only been married a short time and they didn't share any property or have any children together, there was little to discuss.

Police repeatedly questioned Misty about Haleigh's disappearance and looked into the possibility that she wasn't in fact at home when the child disappeared. Misty describes herself as a devoted caregiver to Haleigh and her brother and said she had been home the entire night and hadn't left the children alone.

Investigators have been publicly skeptical of Misty's story, stating she failed four polygraphs and one voice stress test, and changed her story multiple times; they described her accounts as "consistently inconsistent."

Ronald Cummings, father of missing Haleigh, is arrested again on Christmas

the father of missing Haleigh Cummings and recently released from prison, is back in jail.

The 39-year-old was arrested again on Christmas Day on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, trafficking oxycodone, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, resisting an officer with violence, obstructing police by depriving means of communication and possession of marijuana and drug equipment possession, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

On Oct. 19 Cummings was released from his 15-year mandatory minimum drug-trafficking sentence in 2010, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. He qualified for incentive gain time after serving 85% of his prison sentence under state law. He was now living in Welaka.

His latest arrest began with a deputy and fire-rescue personnel responding shortly after midnight to a crash and possible vehicle fire at Sisco Road and Olivia Lane in Pomona Park. A Hyundai Sonata appeared to have hit the Olivia Lane road sign. Cummings was sitting in the driver’s seat with the car's engine still running. He appeared to be sleeping or unconscious with a bottle of Hennessy liquor in his lap, the arrest report said.

After several attempts to wake him, Cummings made some moans and nonunderstandable slurs. The deputy turned the engine off and instructed Cummings to get out. He smelled of alcohol and appeared to be severely intoxicated, the report said.

He started to exit the vehicle, then sat back down and tried to turn the ignition on again. The deputy said he told him three times to stop and was met with an expletive. So the deputy pulled him out and said he was then pushed by
Cummings, who began reaching for and attempting to pull the deputy’s gun from the holster, according to the arrest report.

As the deputy attempted to restrain him, he said Cummings knocked his radio to the ground. The deputy was able to take him down and secure him with help from fire-rescue personnel. Cummings started rapping and blurting out statements, retorting, “You think I’m scared of prison" and calling the deputy an expletive "cracker," according to the arrest report.

Substances that field tested to be oxycodone were found in two of his pockets and a baggie of marijuana in the car.

Cummings was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked in jail. A judge ordered his bail set at $185,000 during his first appearance in court Monday morning.

“Despite being given a clean slate after serving his time in prison, Ronald has returned to his old ways and is a menace to our community,” Sheriff H.D. "Gator" DeLoach said. "He not only put lives in danger with his actions, he also attempted to endanger our deputy and medical personnel coming to assist him after he chose to drive while under the influence. Some people do not take the second chances they’ve been given to change their lives, and his actions reflect this.”

Merry Christmas Ron. Geez. I Think you are tagged this time. All those charges too. Wow. You keep doing crap. Didn't learn. That's very sad. I feel for the man. I think he is genuinely hurting and had nothing to do with her disappearance.

I had hoped he would change his ways after sitting in the can. If he was a good guy, he would have been using his sober time to sort out what happened to his darling daughter and get justice for her once he got out. But what does he do instead? Gets out and starts right back into being a menace to society. He was contributing to minors before going to prison and I'm afraid he jumped out to do it again. Only now there's also fentynal in the public square! No, I have no sympathy for him anymore as far as being a drug dealer. He needs to stay away from the public until he figures out how to fly straight.

Didn't mean to sound like I'm jumping on your post, but I've followed these people for YEARS and I've lost my patience with them.

I didn't take the post wrong. It's fine. It is certainly no way for a grieving father to live his life. He's making his situation worse. What kind of environment would that be for Haylie?. I do believe she is deceased. But try to live the best way for her memory, Or in honor of her. Not do things that I hope you wouldn't want her to do.

13 years later and unsolved: What to know about Haleigh Cummings' disappearance

On Christmas Day, Ronald Cummings Sr., out of prison two months after getting released from a 15-year drug trafficking sentence, was arrested again on a variety of charges including battery on a law enforcement officer, trafficking oxycodone, possession and resisting an officer with violence, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Thirteen years ago, the nation was watching him plead for any news of the whereabouts of his 5-year-old daughter, Haleigh Cummings.

All this time later and I know of no official timeline of the day leading up to disappearance. Certainly, I've ascertained to the best of my ability what that timeline as I'm sure others have, too, but I've heard of nothing of a timeline established by and from LE.
And I still don't know- if it was suggested, I forgot- where the cinderblock came from.
Speaking of the scene, I'd questioned items on the ramp and have since learned info that one item was a blanket. Well, clearly, there's at least one other item on the ramp but besides what those are, what about the circumstances surrounding those items?
I don't understand why it is that all these years later, I don't know what I consider to be fundamental facts and circumstances of a case and it's evidence at the crime scene.

They searched the river. It's very muddy. I think that's where she still is.They just missed her due to low visibility. And I'm sure alot of sediment.

I do not remember any explaination of the cinder block - always a mystery that bothered me
