An umbrella (white, round, 70 cm diameter) was also bound to these bands, probably to make the body sink. This umbrella is commercialized by two Dutch companies, ELFE and VEROPA. It's distributed all over Europe. Multiple unhealed injuries all over her body caused by long-term abuse. Both upper arms showed several fractures which were left to heal without treatment. Numerous cigarette burns were covering her entire body and she had numerous oblong scars on her forehead, torso and legs. There were also several lacerations on her head. From the Wikipedia page:

Investigations revealed that the girl most likely was thrown into the water between the Griesheim barrage and the Wörthspitze. Among other things, due to a scarf-like object she had on her, it is assumed that the girl originated from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border area, but was living in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main area, perhaps as a servant. However, on-site investigation revealed no clues about her identity or that of her killer(s). It cannot be excluded that the girl entered through diplomatic circles, in which investigations are difficult due to political immunity. The body was buried in the Heiligenstock cemetery; the funeral was financed by donations from the investigators. The case receives substantial attention even after more than ten years.[2]

‘Girl in the River Main’ identified after 25 years, father arrested

A teenager nicknamed “The Girl in the River Main” after her body was found floating in Germany a quarter-century ago bearing signs of abuse has finally been identified, leading to her father’s arrest, Interpol said Monday.

The girl was named as Diana S, aged 16, the organization said, adding that she had been “violently assaulted.”

The victim’s father, a 67-year-old German national, was placed in pre-trial detention on suspicion of murder last Tuesday.

"Girl from the Main" identified after 25 years
On the orders of the Frankfurt am Main public prosecutor's office, the Hessian State Criminal Police Office arrested a 67-year-old German national on May 12, 2026, who is strongly suspected of having killed his then 16-year-old daughter almost 25 years ago and throwing her body into the Main River.

Murder has no statute of limitations: Hessian investigators are searching for clues 23 years after the discovery of a young woman's body. The suspect was brought before the investigating judge at the Frankfurt am Main District Court on the same day, who then ordered him remanded in custody on suspicion of murder. The crucial leads came from the international "Identify Me" campaign, which in October 2024 appealed for information about the identity of the "girl from the Main" and for help in identifying the perpetrator.

Following several tips from the public, the investigation continued with undiminished intensity, which has now led to the suspect's arrest. The 67-year-old, who was born in Pakistan, is alleged to have killed his daughter between July 28 and 31, 2001, in the family's apartment in Offenbach by inflicting numerous brutal blows. He then allegedly wrapped the 16-year-old's body in a bedsheet, tied it up, attached the wrapped corpse to a parasol stand, and threw it into the Main River in Frankfurt. The body was discovered floating in the Main by passersby on the afternoon of July 31, 2001. The investigation, which is still being conducted with considerable intensity, is ongoing.
