Dodge County authorities search for missing woman; husband in custody

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing woman in rural Clyman and is asking the public to avoid the area and not join in the search.

Family say Crystal Rasch, 37, of rural Clyman, has not been in touch with anyone since June 11.

Rasch’s husband, Zachariah Rasch, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon and is being held in the Dodge County Jail on tentative charges of misappropriating personal identification materials. Crystal Rasch filed for divorce in September 2023 and said in court papers her husband had threatened abuse when she previously filed in 2019.

“The search continues in hope that we find Crystal and can return her to her family,” Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said during a press conference Thursday.

Jury trial set in Dodge County murder case

After Judge Brian Pfitzinger found him competent to stand trial in a December hearing, Zachariah Rasch now knows when that trial will take place. It is scheduled over three weeks, beginning Monday, June 1.

The 44-year old Town of Clyman man stands accused of murdering his wife, Crystal, and disposing of her corpse in June of 2024. Crystal Rasch’s body was not recovered intact, though a search of an Adams County property with ties to Zachariah Rasch found evidence of a burn pit, and bones and a tooth that were identified as hers. Law enforcement had previously pursued her disappearance as a missing-persons case.

Zachariah was seen on surveillance video purchasing stain remover and sulfuric acid, among other supplies, using his wife’s bank card. The purchases took place the day after she was last seen alive, and he was initially arrested for fraudulently using her card to make unauthorized purchases. An incriminating search history on his devices indicated that he had researched what supplies he’d need to dispose of a body.

Crystal Rasch filed for divorce from Zachariah in September 2023, after previously alleging abuse in a 2019 filing for a divorce that was not finalized. She was last seen alive when both Raschs stopped at the Goodwill store in Oconomowoc together June 11, 2024.

Zachariah was found unfit to stand trial in a June 21, 2025 hearing, though Dodge County District Attorney Andrea Will requested that the record show he was likely to regain competency in the future. With that change coming to fruition in the December hearing, Pfitzinger placed a three-week trial block on the calendar.

Rasch voluntarily, intelligently waived his Miranda rights

Judge Brian Pfitzinger ruled during final pre-trial Monday that Zachariah Rasch voluntarily and intelligently waived his Miranda rights, meaning statements can be used at his jury trail set to begin June 1. The trial is scheduled for over three weeks.

A status conference is scheduled for May 26 at 1 p.m.

Well, he's done anyway. The physical evidence. Her tooth. Yeah, that's pretty damming.Going back years, there is a record of him being abusive.
He's the dimmest bulb on the tree. Uses her credit card for gloves, drain cleaner, and carpet cleaner. Duh! Nice try with the Miranda rights. You might be dumb. Well, you are dumb. But you understood.
