HAUGHTON, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A Haughton mother and detectives with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office are continuing to seek answers in the disappearance of a man who went missing 14 years ago.

According to BPSO, Clinton Nelson went missing on September 1, 2006, and he was last seen at a party near a home by Highway 8 and Ward Lane in Princeton.
Detectives say Clinton walked out of the home around 8:30 in the evening in an unknown direction. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans, and a new pair of white tennis shoes.

Clinton reportedly wore some distinctive round seeing glasses with silver wire rims. He was 6’1 tall weighed about 160 pounds. He also had blonde hair and blue eyes.
BPSO says Clinton had moved down from up north to be closer to his father and to work here in the oil field industry. His mother, Carolyn Teigen, continues to actively seek answers as to what happened to her son.

“Someone has information that will help us bring closure to his family,” said Sheriff Whittington.
“Please speak up, and give us a call.”

Bossier deputies say they have led numerous searches throughout the entire parish and other areas over the years.
If anyone has any information about the case or any other missing person cases, please call the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at (318) 965-2203 or Bossier Crimestoppers at (318) 424-4100. Your information, even though you may deem it insignificant, may just be the lead detectives need to help bring closure to a family.

Nelson was last seen at approximately 8:30 p.m. on September 1, 2006, leaving a party at a friend's residence in the vicinity of the 800 block of Ward Lane and Highway 80 in Princeton, Louisiana.

His father called him and Nelson said he'd seen police lights in the area and thought the police were chasing him. He has never been heard from again. There hasn't been any activity on his phone since he vanished.

Nelson lived with his father in Haughton, Louisiana at the time of his disappearance and working on an oil rig. He had moved there from Spearfish, South Dakota about six months before he went missing. His family stated he was behaving normally prior to vanishing and it is out for character for him to be out of touch with them. His son was born months after he disappeared, and Nelson's mother is now raising him.

Prior to his disappearance, Nelson had been arrested for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and the prescription drug Xanax. His court appearance was scheduled for November 17, two and a half months after he went missing, and when he missed the court date warrants were issued for his arrest.

Authorities and Nelson's family believe he is dead, and his family has offered a reward for the recovery of his remains. He has a history of drug abuse and there were rumors that he died of a drug overdose at a party and people hid his body. In Louisiana, providing drugs that cause a fatal overdose can lead to a charge of murder. Another theory is that Nelson was robbed and killed for the cash he was carrying.

His case remains unsolved. Foul play is suspected.

This case has always saddened me because of the heartbreak of his mother. I’m glad they are still talking about it and looking into it.

Mother still looking for son who went missing in Princeton nearly 20 years ago

Nearly two decades after her son, Clinton Nelson, vanished without a trace, Carolyn Teigen refuses to give up hope of finding answers about what happened to him.

Nelson was 21-years-old when he mysteriously disappeared in 2006 after going to a party in Princeton. His mother, who lives in North Dakota, continues to make regular trips to Bossier Parish, putting up fliers and searching for any clue that might bring closure to her family.

“My grandson has been told that his dad left because of him, and my goal in life is to prove to him that that is not true,” Teigen said as she posted missing person fliers throughout the area.

Teigen’s determination stems from her belief that her son would never have abandoned his child. Despite the years that have passed, she maintains her vigil, traveling hundreds of miles from her North Dakota home to Louisiana in pursuit of the truth.

“I don’t feel like I can stop looking for him or seeking answers or trying to at least reveal the truth,” Teigen said. “I know that we can’t save him because I believe he’s dead, but I can at least reveal the truth of what happened.”

Nelson was last seen at a block party in Princeton. When Teigen first learned of her son’s disappearance, the news hit her like a brick.

“Like sheer panic... I immediately started calling him and waiting for that phone to ring, waiting for someone to call me and tell me this was just a bad nightmare,” she said.

While she continues her search, Teigen treasures the memories of her son, keeping mementos that remind her of happier times.

“I’ve got little cards or cartoons or things he would send me just to make me smile or make me laugh,” she said. “It’s that I miss his hugs. He had the best hugs.”

As another year passes, Teigen hopes she won’t have to return next year to put up more fliers, but her commitment to finding answers remains unwavering.

Anyone with information about Clinton Nelson’s disappearance is asked to contact Bossier Parish detectives at 318-965-3418. A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his whereabouts.
