When I couldn't sleep this morning, I mentioned on the other case where the 4 children were found, what is with the rash of these things lately? Did a law change that they can automatically go to an Amber Alert maybe? I have seen some in other areas or pages that I am about to post but then they are found... Are some of these parents who are just an hour or two late bringing the kids back from a visit? One parent trying to deny the other seeing the kids?

I am all for immediate alerts on missing children without fail or doubt. I just don't understand the ton of these by a parent lately... There have been so many one can't miss it...
Praying for these children.

It really isn't new. About 2/3 of AMBER Alerts are family abductions. They still have to meet the criteria where they are believed to be in danger. They can't just be late for a few hours and get an Alert. Has to be other issues at play.

That being said...I would imagine custody issues are on edge for many people right now with the pandemic and many courts closed.

I wondered with the pandemic. And I know parental abductions are not unheard of but it sure seems there have been a real rash of them since about the 4th of July I want to say. Another thing is if you don't have a flat out custody order showing which parent is to have the child at such and such a time, LE will not usually get involved or at least it used to be that way, in at least some states... They will say you need to take it up with the court because they have no proof who is to have the child or who let who have the child even...
Just strikes me odd lately. Maybe as you say a lot of pressure, courts closed as far as custody issues (or they were and are now likely behind), etc.

Still missing. Nothing new.

Several days now and these kids are old enough to try to make contact themselves if they have the opportunity... Not sure if that is good or bad. It might show they want to be with him or it may show they can't make contact...

I just looked to see if any updates here and found nothing in a quick search.

However, I do miss things and did not notice until now that the kids were taken from a county medical center. That throws me somewhat. I guess we will not likely ever know who was there or why, or why they were all there, to visit someone else or for their own reasons...

Even so, I see no updates on it anywhere. I assume that means they are still missing.

They haven't mentioned any medical conditions that would make the children be in more danger. It may have been just a routine thing. I volunteer for an emergency foster care sanctuary (kids enter our care instead of spending the night in a police station, social workers car, etc. until a suitable placement can be found for them) and every child entering care goes to the doctor for a checkup/screening within the first 24 hours.

I guess I was thinking more since it says he did not have custodial rights or any to take the children, why he was there with the children to begin with. Or present with the children. As in, maybe the mother was in the hospital, if she is custodial, and he went up there? My mind was in a different direction on it. Or how he knew they were there. That kind of thing. Or were they being taken into county custody because of something and he took off with them?

I would have to guess some type of contact has been made at minimum with the children I would think. Or contact made from someone representing the father and the children? Or they have the children back and it is simply not being shared nor reported. It must mean they are no longer in danger though which is a good thing...

They are not listed as missing with the California DOJ. Missing Person Search
They are not listed as missing with the NCMEC. Search Missing Posters

I'm presuming they've been found but I'm going to leave this here a bit longer to see if we can't find something specific.

Is it too much to ask for a dang AMBER Alert, where you have to believe a child's life is in danger, for an UPDATE when the alert is canceled?!? Ugh.

I agree. I think when people get involved and that happens particularly with an Amber Alert, total strangers and the public worried about the child/ren, or anyone, an update is owed and the public should know when they are found safe--or otherwise, even if all details cannot be shared.
