'A very strange case': Search continues for missing Texas woman after Atchafalaya Basin Bridge crash

Wednesday marks one week since 22-year-old Texas woman Christin Munn-Holliday vanished from a Louisiana bridge, prompting an ongoing multi-agency search.

Louisiana State Police say Munn-Holliday was last seen early Wednesday morning following a two-car crash on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge near the Whiskey Bay exit. When state troopers and Iberville Parish deputies arrived, they found one occupied vehicle and a second empty car belonging to Munn-Holliday.

Witnesses reported seeing her walk away from the scene, which spans 18 miles of remote bayous and swamps.

"It's a very strange case," Stassi said. "We don't know if she was picked up, we don't know if she walked away, we don't have any idea where she went that night or where she is today."

Investigators believe Munn-Holliday was traveling to Baton Rouge. Her cell phone last pinged at the crash site, and her disappearance is currently being handled as a missing person case.

"We also are leaving open the options that she was picked up, could have been kidnapped," said Stassi.

Munn-Holliday’s family traveled from the Houston area to help search for the young mother of a 4-year-old son, known by loved ones as "Chrissy."

"She's a caring mother, a great daughter, she loves her parents, she loves us to death, she's her mom's best friend, she's my best friend," Christin's father Robert Munn said.

Munn believes his daughter was targeted and picked up for unknown reasons. The family says video from traffic cameras shows their daughter driving fast on the bridge; they believe someone was chasing their daughter on I-10.

"It wasn't random," said Munn. "Either someone took her or did something else to her."

The family has offered a $20,000 reward for their daughter's safe return. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.

"Why was she on the bridge? I don't know," said Munn. "For her to not be there when the police arrive says a lot because you can't walk that bridge without being seen."

Katy 22-year-old disappears in Louisiana after hit-and-run crash on I-10, authorities say

A search for Christin Munn-Holliday, a 22-year-old from Katy, continued along the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge in Louisiana on Wednesday, one week after she went missing after a hit-and-run crash in the area.

A 22-year-old Katy woman has been missing in Louisiana for a week after she left the scene of a hit-and-run crash in Iberville Parish last Wednesday, according to police and a nonprofit involved in the search.

Christin Munn-Holliday disappeared after the Sept. 30 collision, which occurred on the eastbound side of Interstate 10 near milepost 128 in Iberville Parish, according to Louisiana State Police. Munn-Holliday is believed to have been one of the drivers involved in the crash, police said.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is leading the missing persons investigation while state police investigate the crash, according to Louisiana State Police. The sheriff's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"Louisiana State Police has been in contact with Harris County investigators and will continue to coordinate with and assist their agency as needed," a Facebook post by the Louisiana State Police states.

Munn-Holliday dropped off her children with her parents the day before the crash and left for Louisiana in a gray, late model BMW, KPRC reported on Tuesday. They had not heard from her since, according to the KPRC report.

Munn-Holliday was last seen wearing a purple one-piece bodysuit jumper with a blue jean jacket, according to the Black & Missing Foundation — a Maryland nonprofit that assists cases involving missing people of color. The foundation confirmed Munn-Holliday was from Katy and said she had several tattoos, including a rose on her shoulder, Arabic letters on her arm and neck and a Lareshia tattoo, a Major'Lee tattoo, a Robert tattoo and another rose tattoo under her breast.

The crash took place on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge before the Whiskey Bay exit, according to the Black & Missing Foundation.

Munn-Holliday's mother LaReshia Holliday said she was asleep when she received a text from her daughter but was unable to reach her after waking up. She tried sending a message that wouldn't deliver shortly after 2 a.m., she said, and a phone call went straight to voicemail. She drove to her daughter's house to see if she was there and said she filed a police report by 10 a.m. after learning her daughter was gone.

She said she hadn't eaten or slept in days.

"They have her car, but not her, I need answers now," LaReshia Holliday wrote on Facebook on last Thursday. "Nothing is adding up to me."

Munn-Holliday's father, Robert Munn, pleaded for his daughter's return and offered a $20,000 reward. He asked those who have seen her or know of her whereabouts to contact law enforcement or his family.

"If you have my daughter, please know that our only concern right now is getting her home safely," Robert Munn wrote online. "You don’t have to explain anything or face anyone right now. Please let her go safely at the nearest gas station or public place and allow her to contact her family. No questions. No confrontation. Just let her come home."

A search for Munn-Holliday continued along the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge on Wednesday. The United Cajun Navy was involved in the search efforts, and Incident Commander Josh Gill said the search and rescue nonprofit was searching with boats, drones and "boots on the ground."

"We made a promise to that family last night when I talked to them we're going to do everything in my power and our power as an organization to help bring her home," Gill said in a video posted Wednesday morning.

A GoFundMe page for Munn-Holliday's family had raised over $1,800 as of Wednesday afternoon. Proceeds would go toward a private investigator, an attorney, lodging, gas, transportation, meals and other expenses related to travel between Texas and Louisiana. The family hopes to compile $3,000 to hire a private investigator, according to the GoFundMe.

"These costs are growing quickly, but Chrissy’s family cannot stop searching," the page states. "Their focus remains the same: finding their daughter and bringing her home to her little boy and the family who loves her."

Oh no! Another case where someone went missing after a car crash. Not good. I still think it's possible that some people go into shock, take off, and then when they get their whits back, they are lost and can't find their way.
