Allegheny County police searching for missing 12-year-old; mother taken into custody
Allegheny County police are searching for a missing 12-year-old from Penn Hills.Police say Desmonique Raquel Hammonds contacted police early Friday morning. She said that her daughter, Aylee Hammonds, had run away from their Penn Hills home.
Hammond did not provide many details, police say. Police were not able to find her at the house on Saturday.
Aylee is described as 5 feet tall and 100 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen on Thursday at 8 p.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Arbor Lane in Penn Hills.
Aylee's current whereabouts are unknown. The Allegheny County Child Abduction Response Team has been activated in response.
Desmonique Hammonds fled from her residence on Saturday around 3:10 p.m., Allegheny County police say.
Penn Hills police pursued the Mercedes and lost sight of it on the Hulton Bridge in Harmar Township. Desmonique Hammonds is wanted for fleeing and eluding police, and she is wanted for questioning in the disappearance of Aylee Hammonds, police say. Desmonique Hammonds was taken into custody in Newport, Ohio, Saturday. Aylee was not with her.
Police said that they believe this child may be at special risk of harm or injury.
