What happened to Ashley Elkins? Family's desperate for mom of two search continues

A week after Ashley Elkins disappeared while running errands last week, her family is desperate to find the 30-year-old mom of two.

The hairstylist and mother of two was last seen on Jan. 2 when she left her home to run errands – leaving nothing behind except for one text from her phone, saying she was heading back from a beauty supply store.

On Tuesday, her family hit the streets with police to try to find her.

Elkins' family says her phone last pinged in Roseville near where her ex-boyfriend lives on Pinehurst. On Tuesday, a Michigan State Police Forensic Lab was on site at the ex-boyfriend’s apartment.

Warren Police are taking the lead on the case and say the forensic lab was brought in to provide expertise with analyzing evidence.

Warren Police have canvassed several area businesses for video and utilized digital forensics to help determine where Elkins could be.

Family members said they can't sit around to wait for answers and are asking anyone who possibly knows anything to come forward.

"I will not wait I will keep going until I find her," Monika said. "Just think about those boys, her sons. If you don’t care about me, her sisters, her grandmother, who is 85 years old, at least care about those boys."

Was the judge not present when the evidence was presented? Why does he need MORE time? Clearly there is EVIDENCE. He doesn't have to decide if the evidence proves guilt...

Judge delays ruling in Ashley Elkins case, cites needing more time to review evidence

After multiple court appearances for DeAndre Booker, who is accused of killing Warren mother, Ashley Elkins, a judge says he needs more time to review the evidence before ruling whether the case can move forward to trial.

Friday, Aug. 22, was the last day of testimony in the preliminary exam of Booker, and prosecutors and the defense brought hundreds of pieces of evidence over multiple days. Booker is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, tampering with evidence, disinterment or mutilation of a dead body and concealing the death of an individual. He is also charged with lying to police in a related case.

"This case is complicated to say the least," Judge Joseph Boedeker said in court. "Close to 200 exhibits, including a lot of videos--I'm told that the transcript itself could be some 1,000 pages."

Boedeker decided to allow the transcript to be typed up by court officials and distributed to prosecutors and the defense before oral arguments in a couple of months. It's a decision that the Elkins's family said is disappointing but necessary.

"Two to three months is a long time to wait, you know, to hear a decision, but you know we think the evidence that came in is very compelling that ultimately the judge will bind him over to circuit court for trial," said Maurice Morton, a spokesperson for the Elkins family.

I wonder if the judge wants the body..... wouldn't be the first time......

Roseville police surprise sons of missing mother Ashley Elkins with Christmas visit

Roseville police officers made a surprise Christmas visit to the two young sons of missing mother Ashley Elkins on Monday evening, surprising the family with toys, a ceremonial key to the city, and a personal visit with Santa Claus, as her loved ones mark the first holiday without her.

The gesture was aimed at lifting the spirits of 11-year-old Braden and 8-year-old Jaden Bogan-Elkins, who were 10 and 7-years-old, respectively, when their mother disappeared in early January.

Sergeant Matt Lesperance, a Roseville police officer involved in the case, said officers wanted to shed some light on the family after such a difficult year.

“I’m sure after all the turmoil they went through, just to put a little light in their hearts goes a long way, especially for the young kids,” Lesperance said.

Lieutenant Eric Saddler, another Roseville officer who helped investigate the case, said the department wanted to show community support beyond their investigative work.

“It’s just a great feeling, and there’s nothing better than to give, especially for people in need in times like this,” Saddler said. “It holds a very special place in our hearts.”

Booker has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder and tampering with evidence, among other charges, in connection with her disappearance. Elkins’ body still hasn’t been found.

Elkins’ mother, Monika Elkins, said the department’s continued outreach has been a comfort.

“I know their mom is smiling from heaven, and they deserve this; they need to know that everybody loves them and that they support them and us,” Elkins said.

“This is what we’re supposed to do this time of year: embrace each other, love each other, let families know they’re not forgotten,” said Maurice Morton, Elkins’ uncle. “What they did today, Roseville Police, is absolutely amazing.”

After Booker’s preliminary exam in August, a judge decided to delay ruling on whether to send the case to trial to review additional evidence.

The case still hasn’t been bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court.

Ex-boyfriend heads to trial for murder of missing Warren mom Ashley Elkins

The ex-boyfriend of a missing Warren mother of two, Ashley Elkins, will stand trial for her alleged murder, Macomb County prosecutors said.

Booker is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, tampering with evidence, disinterment or mutilation of a dead body, concealing the death of an individual and lying to a police officer.

Booker was bound over to trial on Wednesday following a lengthy preliminary examination in August 2025.

Booker will be arraigned in Macomb County Circuit Court on Jan. 22. He remains in the Macomb County Jail.

"The defendant stands charged with deeply disturbing crime. While Ms. Elkins remains missing, the evidence supports moving forward to trial. We are fully committed to ensuring that justice is served through a fair and thorough legal process," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido in a statement.

Ashley Elkins murder: Ex-boyfriend charged in her death shows in court, has trial date set

A pretrial conference for De'Andre Booker was scheduled for Tuesday morning in Macomb County Circuit Court but a delay in his psychiatric evaluation caused it to be rescheduled.

Booker's new pretrial date is scheduled for June 3, while the trial date is scheduled for Nov. 10.

His defense attorney said the scheduled dates were optimistic.

"I would believe we're quite a distance away from having a trial in this matter," he said. "I'm assuming there would be if he's found to be competent, there would be at least a motion to quash and motions regarding, some evidentiary issues regarding search warrants, etc. "
