So this 16 yo had previously put a choke hold on his 18 year old brother, with help from Mum? WTF? She was bringing up and encouraging a murderer.Probably so. My worst thoughts is that she figured something would happen to Anna at her son's hands, just not murder. I try not to think that way most of the time but it crosses my mind. If she knew her son at all, or his obsession with Anna, she SHOULD have figured...
I can't recall by who or where but I saw an account that Shauntel pitted both sets of kids against each other and her own kids against each other constantly. Why would any parent do that? That's the kind of thing you'd hope to fix, not cause.
The judge in the custody case sided with the mom letting the daughter stay, saying the ex-hub's complaints did not rise to the level of a need to remove her, there wasn't any danger with the boy out of the house, etc. That's disturbing and worrisome. I do think the ex was maybe trying to use the situation to his advantage though.
However, Shauntel has shown she makes dangerous and awful decisions on behalf of all of the children. The daughter should be removed to err on the side of safety.
The oldest brother testified about Chris and Shauntel putting him in a hold in their car, I believe it was a choke hold if I recall correctly. He was on the stand against his mother.
The judge did decide on all the information shared in the custody case though being public, and that was against what Shauntel requested.
No, his mother and stepdad did. Not the 16 year old. I should look at what I said, did it come across that way? Or Anna's stepmother Shauntel, and dad Chris did, on his 18 year old brother. I'm going to go look, I will correct it if it came across that way.So this 16 yo had previously put a choke hold on his 18 year old brother, with help from Mum? WTF? Ok i thought Chris was the 16 yo. We don't know his name do we?I think it's all right. I said Chris and Shauntel did it. To the oldest brother. He is the one with dad, wasn't on the cruise. He chose to go live with dad because of it when he was 18.
Chris Kepner is Anna's dad. Shauntel Hudson, now Kepner, is Anna's stepmom, Chris's now wife.Ok i thought Chris was the 16 yo. We don't know his name do we?
Ok i didn't know his name.Chris Kepner is Anna's dad. Shauntel Hudson, now Kepner, is Anna's stepmom, Chris's now wife.
The 16 year old is Timothy Hudson, Shauntel's son with her ex Thomas Hudson
Not naming him as he is not charged yet and is a minor but his name is all over the place out there.
That's where it is sadly funny with Shauntel texting his dad about wanting to keep his name unknown, etc. Between all the mixed families, marriages, people talking and SM everyone knew his name and determined it pretty quickly. Not me, don't get me wrong. I saw it a few weeks in from someone not caring if they kept the name quiet in a comment elsewhere.Ok i didn't know his name.
As it should be. WE didn't need all the info. Hopefully the delay means they are also looking into the decisions the parents have made in regards to culpability. No arrests made 2 months after Anna Kepner's body found on cruise ship
Two months after a Florida teen’s body was found aboard a cruise ship during a family vacation, no arrests have been made and relatively no information has been released.
Several news outlets, including ABC News and People.com, reported the medical examiner determined Anna Kepner died as a result of mechanical asphyxiation. However, the medical examiner’s office told USA Today Network on Jan. 6 that its office has not released any information and referred questions to the FBI.
A spokesman for the FBI confirmed to USA Today Network that the case was being investigated but said no comment could be given at this time and the agency has not released any information thus far.
Court records connected to a family custody dispute include detailed discussions of Kepner’s 16-year-old stepbrother’s possible involvement with his stepsister’s death. The boy’s stepmother is engaged in a custody dispute with the boy’s father, whom she divorced in 2023. In a court filing she said she had been warned her 16-year-old son was being investigated for possibly being involved in the death and charges could be pending.
Documents also show the boy was taken to a facility following the cruise where he stayed for an undetermined amount of time and then went to live with a relative in another part of Florida where his mother said in a court hearing he was undergoing therapy.
Scott Robinson, a Brevard-based criminal defense lawyer, said there are a number of reasons charges have not been filed two months after the teen’s death.
“I know people want to rush to make an arrest, but it’s better for law enforcement to take their time, dot their i's and cross their t's to do things the right way, get justice and fully prosecute the right person,” said Robinson, who is not connected to the case.
He added that if a minor is involved, there are certain precautions that need to be taken. The fact the death occurred on a cruise ship also adds a complexity.
“There are thousands of people on the cruise ship and authorities need to talk to employees, look at videos, talk to various passengers, see what they remember,” Robinson said. “They could be processing prints, processing DNA, we really don’t know. There are a lot of moving pieces involved.”

Teen suspect in stepsister's cruise ship death in federal court in Miami
A 16-year-old being investigated in the death of his stepsister on a Carnival cruise ship last year appeared before a federal judge in Miami on Friday.www.nbcmiami.com
No kidding. Well he certainly wore clothing to hide himself as much as he could didn't he... Article says he walked to another courthouse where they process I think conditions of release/bond or some such.I can’t believe they’re moving this slow! Wow. I thought this was a slam dunk.
Not that I'm aware of. I actually thought about asking you about it but hadn't seen you recently and since new, didn't want to bother. It's federal because of the cruise ship but it's been mentioned that the holdup was thought to be initially whether it would be charged federally or locally. This isn't making sense to me. Have we seen the indictment anywhere?
I am vaguely familiar with it. I had been wondering why there was no arrest. The whole cruise ship thing brings in the jurisdiction question which is really more why I was interested in the case. If I get time I might try to find an indictment but it wont be today I'm afraid. Not that I'm aware of. Are you familiar with the case?
A lot of the info most have comes from divorce documents and testimony in a custody battle between Anna's stepmom and her ex husband that her son is the prime suspect.
Anything would be appreciated, thank you.I am vaguely familiar with it. I had been wondering why there was no arrest.
