Angelica Brophy of Oceanside was last seen on July 6 when she drove to Palomar Mountain, where her car was found days later.
Angelica Brophy is a lot of things to a lot of people. To her family, she’s a hands-on mother of two who loves to laugh and who sings off-key. To her co-workers, she’s a dedicated emergency room nurse at the Kaiser Hospital in San Marcos. To Oceanside Police, she’s a missing person who hasn’t been seen in more than a week.
Brophy was last seen on July 6. She visited Harrah’s Casino that afternoon and then drove to Palomar Mountain, a place where she often hiked with friends and family. When she didn’t return home that night, her husband called Oceanside Police to file a missing persons report.
Police tried pinging her cell phone, but it was either turned off or the battery was dead. Days later, Brophy’s car was found by one of her five older brothers in a parking lot at Palomar State Park.
Search-and-rescue teams walked the trails and searched the waters of Palomar Mountain State Park but found nothing that led them to Angelica Brophy.

No foul play suspected as search for missing mother continues on Palomar Mountain: Police
