INDIANAPOLIS — The search for 8-month-old Amiah Robertson has prompted a lot of rumors and speculation into what exactly has happened to the infant.
We know the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department took a missing person report from Amiah's mother on Saturday, March 16, but it was later learned that the infant had not been seen alive since March 9.
Detectives continue to conduct interviews, review tips and search for Amiah.
Below is a timeline of the events we know based on what IMPD detectives have released so far in their search and investigation.
Saturday, March 9
  • This was the last day that Amiah's mother or anyone else police have spoken to remembers seeing Amiah Robertson alive. The child's mother told detectives that her boyfriend Robert Lyons had taken the infant "to the babysitter." These details were not actually released until a March 23 press conference with police. Lyons is believed to have been driving a 1996 maroon Isuzu Rodeo in "poor condition." Detectives believe Lyons was in the area of Rockville Road and South Mickley Avenue for an "extended period of time"during the day.
  • Detectives say Lyons returned around 10 p.m. to Amiah's mother but did not have the infant.
Thursday, March 14
  • During the initial report to police, this was the day Amiah's mother told police she had last seen her infant. It is unclear what went on this day but it was later determined that her mother had not seen her for nearly a week before this time.
Saturday, March 16
  • Police were called to a home in the 200 block of S. Holmes Avenue to take a missing person report for 8-month-old Amiah. Police say at the time the report was taken, family members told them they did not believe the baby was in danger.
  • Also that day, IMPD arrested a 20-year-old man from that same residence on a domestic, according to public police records. That man was preliminary charged of leaving the scene of an accident and criminal recklessness, according to those public records.

Well I guess something is better than nothing. Very disappointed at the lack of time BUT this is a case where I don't know how much they could have charged for lack of evidence and body BUT others have done it so I don't know... They were free too long with no charges at all. These two I am sorry a real couple of losers. I'd say he is worse than her but both are pretty bad. Imo. I wonder where all her other kids are. There are at least two and by now maybe more. There was one I believe who lived with his father and then she was pregnant again after Amiah's death. This guy is not Amiah's father if I recall correctly and there may have been quesiotn as to who was, I forget it's been so long ago. The one man, I think father of a son older than Amiah, was old enough to be her father if not her grandpa (Amber's). The only think I can say is Robbie is apt to get in trouble again if they watch him, while on probation. Both are in fact. I doubt either had cleaned up, turned over a new leaf, work hard, have a roof or anything like that. They didn't then and doubtful they do now. And not sure they are together either or were still.

I don't know about granting him a plea deal, could they not have at least proven the charges they DID level against him??!!! And put it to both no deal with no child's BODY??!! SHE MAY NOT KNOW where she is, not solid on that, but HE DOES.

Mother accepts plea deal in missing baby Amiah case

A mother has pled guilty in connection to the disappearance of her 8-month-old daughter Amiah Robertson.

According to court documents obtained by FOX59/CBS4, Amber Robertson has pled guilty to neglect of a dependent, a level 5 felony. In exchange for pleading guilty to that charge, the state will dismiss the following charges that were initially filed against Robertson:
  • Neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 3 felony
  • Neglect of a dependent, a level 5 felony
  • Neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony
The court accepted the plea deal, which carries a maximum sentencing range of up to six years in prison.

The plea deal also stipulated that Robertson must comply with a no-contact order with ex-boyfriend Robert Lyons, who was also charged in connection to the case. The deal also outlines mandatory requirements that Amber Robertson must remain in the Marion County Jail until her sentencing later this month and undergo mental health evaluations as approved by probation.

Last month, Robert Lyons was sentenced to 16 years, with 10 years executed in the Indiana Department of Correction and 6 years suspended after accepting a plea deal in the case.

Well we got a guilty verdict on murder but a sentence of SIX(!!!) and she got six and he more on charges that aren't murder. So I guess in some places that is considered a lot for the MURDER of a baby OR NEGLECT. There's a lot WRONG in some places including mine. And even then in this one, they don't have the poor baby's body and haven't charged murder but probably could prove every other recharge against mom NO PROBLEM AT ALL and give her all they can but they DEAL??? And le go of THREE other charges/felonies?! WHY??? You take them all ALL the WAY. She still is or was in contact with him?? She also has more children. Yes, just let her out in up to six years. Meaning she won't serve six or be given six. These people are scum.

This is one I followed from the start before I was here. RIP Amiah. You were born to the wrong woman and people around her that she chose and the activities they chose and were of no consequence to either. Your physical body has not been found but you are somewhere far better. Your mother is a lost cause and HE is beyond that even.

You are getting some measure of justice on earth but not nearly close to enough. Drugs, probably hooking and basically living in like a storage shed, yeah really a life to have a baby brought into. No water, no car, no job, no life, no roof. LOSERVILLE CITY.

RIp sweet little innocent child who deserved far better.

Mother sentenced to 6 years in ‘baby Amiah’ case

A Marion County judge sentenced Amber Robertson to 6 years in connection with the 2019 disappearance of her infant daughter Amiah.

Robertson pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent, a Level 5 felony. In exchange for her plea, the state dismissed three other felony neglect charges filed against her.

Judge Marie Kern accepted the plea on Friday and sentenced Robertson to 6 years, with 637 days of credit for time served and 212 days of good time credit. The remaining sentence–1,341 days–was suspended to probation.

The judge ordered Robertson to take parenting classes and undergo a mental health evaluation. Robertson declined to make a statement in court and wiped tears from her eyes during the proceedings.

SUSPENDED--meaning NO further time, just probation?? Don't get me wrong, he did this imo but boy she, I am not sure, was every telling the truth either. And of course they dismiss three other felonies on to of it. What are the CONDITIONS besides mental health eval and parenting classes? Why does she need parenting classes? Don't tell me her other children are WITH HER. Is she required to have daily drug and alcohol testing? Get a job, go to school? Have a roof over her and her children's heads but again she should not HAVE her children unless this woman has cleaned up and turned over such a new responsible leaf but clearly not if ordered to take classes.

Are these answers available?! So headline is "sentenced to six years" but then sounds like it was suspended when reading below it. Smdh.
