South Jordan PD: Missing, endangered juvenile may have planned to meet people from online chats

South Jordan police are again asking the public for information regarding a 15-year-old girl who left her school in American Fork on Monday, April 21.

Police now believe Alisa Petrov may have been attempting to meet up with people she had been in contact with through various social media platforms.

On the day she disappeared, Alisa went to a local gas station to purchase some items and was later observed boarding a UTA train, a SJPD news release says.

“Alisa exited the train in Provo,” according to the news release. “Alisa reportedly asked multiple people to aid in her travel to Las Vegas, Nevada.”

Teen Missing South Of Preston, ID May Have Been Baited Online

A missing teenager from northern Utah hasn't been heard from in nearly two weeks. There is evidence that she may have been coaxed into traveling to Nevada to meet with someone she communicated with online.

The search for Alisa Petrov, 15, from South Jordan has now entered day 10, according to her shared profile with the Utah Department of Public Safety. It is believed that Petrov entered a convenience store and boarded a train sometime after she was reported missing, according to fox5vegas.com. South Jordan is located 120 miles south of Preston, Idaho.

15-year-old missing from Utah could be traveling to Las Vegas
Authorities in Utah are looking for a 15-year-old girl reported missing last week, and her family believes she might have been traveling to Las Vegas.

The family of Alisa Petrov of South Jordan tells KUTV she was last seen the night of April 21 leaving a train in Provo.

They say she spoke with people near the train platform and asked about transportation to Las Vegas.

South Jordan Police shared this on a public safety bulletin: "Alisa is believed to be attempting to meet individuals she met online using multiple social media platforms and chat applications."

Alisa is listed as "missing and endangered." Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement.

Parents fear the possibilities as they search for missing South Jordan teen

Parents of a missing South Jordan teen pleaded for their daughter to come home safely Sunday as they retraced some of her last-known steps.

15-year-old Alisa Petrov was last seen on April 21, and South Jordan Police have characterized her as a “runaway juvenile who is endangered.

Parents Nikolai and Olga Petrov said Sunday afternoon they were concerned about several possibilities, including whether their daughter was lured away by an adult or that she was potentially trafficked.

“That’s what we are suspecting at the moment,” Olga Petrov told KSL TV. “We have no confirmation, but concerns.”

The mother said she dropped her daughter off at her school classes in American Fork on Monday, April 21, near 655 South and 500 East.

“She entered the building, she didn’t make it to the classroom,” Olga said. “The teachers said she never saw her that day.”

Instead, the parents said Alisa went to a nearby gas station where teens often go for snacks and told two boys that she planned to run away.

“They told her, ‘No, don’t do it,’ but I guess she went for it anyway,” Olga said.

From there, the parents said they learned that Alisa got someone to give her a ride to the UTA FrontRunner station at 6786 W. 7750 N., where she then boarded the train and traveled to Provo.

The parents and police said Alisa approached multiple people about helping her in her journey.

“She asked a girl to get her a ticket in exchange of cash for the bus to Las Vegas,” Olga said.

The 15-year-old was last seen at the Provo FrontRunner station at 690 S. University Ave and her trail has gone cold since, the parents said.

The Petrovs said though their daughter was always on her phone, including during their excursion to the ski slopes the Sunday before her disappearance, she has not been active on social media over the past 13 days, and she has not responded to messages.

“If she’s in Las Vegas, it might be really dangerous,” Nikolai Petrov said. “Someone can abuse her. It’s really bad.”

The couple said they had spoken with Alisa within the past 6 months about talking online to strangers— including in places like Discord and Snapchat — and they instructed her to delete contacts she didn’t know.

They said they had checked her daughter’s phone in the days prior to her appearance, and there was nothing to suggest she was going to run away.

The family set up its own website for Alisa and they pleaded Sunday afternoon for her safe return.

“(Our) whole life is upside down right now,” Olga said. “We need her back. We miss her.”

A police spokesperson told KSL TV on Sunday there were no updates to the case.

Sorry to do it, but prior to her appearance which I would think they meant disappearance I'd think? That's a big difference.

I don't point it out often and I don't even hardly check my typos a whole lot these days and I make them but then I'm not in their job. I've had my jobs where you should be triple checking (even before corrections by things like spell check) but not any longer.

Anyhow, I hope this child is found safe, although I doubt she will have been untouched. And some probably believe she "appeared" per the reporter.

Praying.

Cybertip leads Texas City officers into cross-state missing child case

The Texas City Police Department is now assisting in the investigation of a missing 15-year-old girl from Utah, authorities confirmed Friday.

According to a news release from Texas City police on May 9, officers with the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Criminal Investigations Division, and Crime Suppression Unit began working alongside the South Jordan Police Department in Utah on Thursday. The assistance comes in response to a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Texas City police did not specify why they joined the case but stated they remain committed to protecting youth and will continue to update the public as the investigation progresses.

New lead may bring police closer to answers in disappearance of South Jordan teen
According to a press release from the South Jordan Police Department, a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led investigators to an adult man in Texas.

Authorities believe the man may have communicated with Alisa before her disappearance.

Authorities identify Texas man who may have been talking to missing Utah teen before disappearance

Officials confirmed that the person they identified was an adult male, but they did not specify whether or not they believe he is the man who last saw her.

Saturday night, a Texas City PD source informed KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry that officials have found no evidence indicating that Petrov was ever in the Texas City area.

Smh. I am never going to understand the minds of the various types of criminals. NEVER. WHY would you give up your freedom for whatever this is, some sick fantasy? I just do not get it. I know like some killers think they've got the perfect plan. Usually turns out they don't. Again smh. And in cases like this, how different is a 15 yr old from an 18 year old??? They are just SO stupid. One is legal, one is not.

Not saying it is him yet, just saying if so.

Texas City man, Florida man charged after being linked to missing Utah teen case

Multiple charges have been filed after authorities identified two men they believe could be linked to the disappearance of a missing 15-year-old girl in Utah.

The first suspect was identified on May 10 as 37-year-old William Taylor Glines of Texas City. The second man has been identified as 35-year-old Matthew Nicholas Menard of Miami.

Both have been charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor and criminal solicitation.

Glines faces an additional charge of attempted aggravated exploitation of a minor.

Investigators believe that both Menard and Glines were in communication with Alisa Petrov.

First suspect

Now, nearly a month after her disappearance, South Jordan police identified a Florida man, Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, who they say enticed her to go there, according to a search warrant, which requested full access to his phone.

Based on text conversations that were found between Menard and Petrov on social media, investigators were first able to glean some information about runaway plans.

“Matt and the victim also have extensive conversations where they plan on the juvenile running away from home to meet him in Las Vegas, NV,” the warrant states. “Matt tells the victim he will fly to Las Vegas for a business trip later in May, and she can lay low until he gets there. They then planned to fly to Los Angeles, CA together for several days, before ultimately going back to Miami, FL where Matt lives.”

The warrant states the two discussed “methods in which the victim can travel without being tracked and avoid detection.”

“They also discuss their future plans and how they can create a false scenario where Matt tells people she is his daughter,” it states.

Charging documents from Utah described in detail the sexual conversations that Menard and Petrov had before the teen’s disappearance.

In one of the conversations, Petrov confirmed to Menard that she was 15 years old and was a minor. Menard acknowledged Petrov’s age and kept chatting with her about sex.

Charing documents stated that Menard instructed Petrov to take inappropriate photos of her and send them to him.

Charges were filed against Menard on Friday in the 4th District Court, after investigators said they found evidence within the messages that Menard knew Petrov was underage.

Menard faces charges for aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and criminal solicitation. Prosecutors requested a no-bail arrest warrant, but have yet to locate him, or Petrov.

A second suspect

Authorities have said they are exhausting all leads, and one actually yielded an arrest. William Taylor Glines, 37, had contact with Petrov before her disappearance also, police say.

Glines faces similar charges to Menard: aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted aggravated sexual exploitation, sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor and criminal solicitation.

Utah charging documents stated that Glines had similar conversations with Petrov, including acknowledging her age, wishing to engage in sexual activities, and demanding inappropriate images of her.

Glines was arrested by Texas authorities on May 8, but only recently have investigators linked him publicly to the case.

According to a police affidavit from Texas, Petrov used a stranger’s phone at a bus stop in Utah to send a message to Glines.

The affidavit stated that Petrov told Glines that “she was safe and that she was using a stranger’s phone to contact him and to not respond.”

Texas authorities were able to track the number that Petrov texted Glines, and eventually, they were able to arrest him.

South Jordan police said Tuesday it is still following other leads in hopes of locating Petrov.

“SOJO will continue efforts to locate Alisa and follow other leads. Alisa is attempting to meet individuals she met online using multiple social media platforms and chat applications,” police said. “She is listed as a runaway juvenile who is endangered.”

Father of missing Utah teen pleads for her safe return; 2 men from out-of-state charged

Nikolai Petrov could barely find words to describe the feelings he's been going through.

His 15-year-old daughter, Alisa, was last seen on the morning of April 21 when she left her American Fork school. Petrov later received a ride to a Utah Transit Authority train station before getting off the train in Provo and asking people for help getting to Las Vegas.

On Tuesday, it was announced that two men have been charged in connection with the disappearance of a 15-year-old South Jordan girl who has been missing since last month.

“It’s like, super stressful. You don’t know what to do, and then you feel like you can’t actually do anything,” Nikolai said. “We have a lot of good times together, and we want to have more of this time in the future."

He also has a message he wants to share with his daughter.

“Alisa, if you see this, please come back because we really want you back," Nikolai said. "We love you. We love you a lot. We will love you no matter what happened. We still want you home. You won't get in trouble for running away. You just want to have you back in our family so that we are all together.”

Third man from Herriman now connected to case of missing South Jordan teen, warrant shows

A third man is now under investigation in the case of missing 15-year-old Alisa Petrov, according to a newly unsealed search warrant obtained by KSL. The warrant details disturbing communications between the teen and a 41-year-old Herriman man.

As of this publication date, KSL TV is not naming the man because he had not been criminally charged on Wednesday. However, the warrant outlines probable cause for the search of his home and phone, citing evidence of potential crimes, including enticement of a minor and exploitation of a minor.

The final message from Alisa to the man, was sent on April 19 at 12:34 a.m. It read: “I’M RUNNING AWAY. Please don’t contact me.”

The warrant also reveals that the man and Alisa had multiple video calls. She also shared her Snapchat username with him. Investigators believe some messages may have been deleted.

Authorities traced the Discord account to an IP address in West Jordan and linked it to the 41-year-old man through a phone number he shared in the chat. A photo from the Discord account matched the man’s Utah DMV photo.

South Jordan police said they couldn’t comment on their investigation into the Herriman man but said their search for Alisa Petrov remains very active.

This is the third man tied to Alisa’s disappearance. Two others have already been charged by the Utah Attorney General’s Office.

Miami man surrenders to Utah police in missing teen case

A Miami man turned himself in to a suburban Salt Lake City police department Wednesday to face charges in connection with the disappearance of a missing Utah teen.

2 men arrested in case of missing Utah teen

Two men have been arrested and jailed in connection with the probe into the April disappearance of a missing South Jordan teen, according to the South Jordan Police Department and jail records.

Police said in a statement late Wednesday night that a Miami, Florida, man, Matthew Nicholas Menard, had turned himself in to South Jordan authorities. Menard, 35, was charged in Utah's 4th District Court in mid-May with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticing of a minor and criminal solicitation, according to authorities.

"(Menard) over the course of several months, corresponded with (the teen) for the purpose of soliciting sex, sodomy, and child sex abuse material from the minor. (He) discussed in graphic detail his intent to sexually abuse the child. (He) encouraged and engaged with (the teen) all from the state of Florida, where all his substantial ties to the community and resources are. (Menard) has no connection to Utah," the charges state.

Samuel Mitchell, 41, of Herriman, has also been arrested on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the police statement.

Both men are being held at the Salt Lake County jail.

Father of missing 15-year-old Utah girl asks for help from the public
Nikolai Petrov is hoping that his 15-year-old daughter Alisa shows up at the front door of their home, safe and unharmed.

Alisa Petrov, who's been missing since April 21, 2025, hasn't been seen or heard from since she left a train platform in Provo after she ran away from school.

"Obviously, it’s best if she just walked in the door and said 'Hey, I’m back,' that would be the best outcome," said Nikolai Petrov to 2News on Thursday. "I don’t know if at this point if she’s on her own, if she’s not on her own, maybe if someone brainwashed her and they’re together and it’s love or something, I do not know.”

"When I first heard that they found the guy in Utah based on the warrants that I saw it seems like he was not as bad as the Florida guy who was basically telling Alisa how to runaway and how to hide, which is obviously the biggest problem we have right now, because if she was not hiding she would probably already be found," said Nikolai Petrov.

Nikolai Petrov said they told police if they had to choose between putting their efforts into arresting someone and finding and bringing Alisa home, they would rather Alisa comes home safely.

He is encouraging members of the public to share information about Alisa in the hopes that somebody sees and recognizes her.

Community steps up to find missing 15-year-old Alisa Petrov

It's been more than a month since anyone has seen 15-year-old Alisa Petrov, and the Utah community is coming together to help bring her home.

"Let's share her face, let's help to find her," said Rhonda Dequier, founder of Missing in America Network.

"Have been working with Alisa's family since pretty much the very beginning, and I talk to them regularly, and the most important thing that I want to get out there is that their family is hurting," said Dequier.

"[Petrov] was targeted by adults in a vulnerable situation, and she needs to be brought home," said Shayna Richard, founder of Light the Way Missing Person Advocacy Project.

It seems really strange to me that NO ONE knows where she is? Or is this a big organization that frightens potential witnesses somehow?

Is she a Mormon child? I am only asking as we have seen some other cases and the area is Utah. Not seeking religious discussion so much as just wanting to now who she is.
