Amber was last seen leaving a friend's house on her bicycle about 18.00, near Northwest 45th and Drexel Boulevard toward her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 18, 1997. She had just called her mother on the telephone and said she would be home soon. She never arrived.
