Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events

I know that Means supposedly has done very little criminal work, but do you suppose he is smart enough to slow down the process so that Lori does easier time in county jail for 18 months, then a mental facility for a year (which would also slow down extradition to AZ by the way), so that she spends less time in a prison (which is much more terrible)? And I imagine that an AZ prison is much more terrible than an Idaho one. What do you think? Is he that smart? 2 or 3 years less hard time out of a life or death sentence?

I am wondering similar things. From various lawyer opinions, former LE opinions, what Means filed, I have to wonder if he is concerned that Lori herself can contact people and say things to her own detriment and he has no control over that...

He is dissed even by experts/professionals but I sometimes wonder too, is he dumb like a fox? I think that of her as well much of the time... Play the messed up, slow, bureaucratic, red tape system, with all having to give defendants way more than every right and chance because of appeals...

I can't help but think and keep in mind that allegedly his office is right in the same building as John Prior who is and has done criminal defense... At times he seems to have piggybacked on Prior or let's just say they awhile back kind of had the same goals/interests with Chad and Lori charged together...

People speculate that Chad has bailed or will bail on Lori, etc. but there is no divorce and per something I read not long ago, Chad was still paying for Lori's defense until this recent claim of indigency right before the new charges...

I tend to think this is all being worked, and sickly, in a probable legal strategy and defense. Think of cases where five people say the other did it... And one cannot always testify against the other... And no one in LE can be sure who did it. If that doesn't work, cut a deal. Only at the end after dragging out and going as long and as far as one can...

I cannot for the life of me understand Means staying on as he has through all of this and why a court cannot say NO because what judge wants an appeal on incompetent counsel? Yet the public and the very prosecutor is saying that for them basically.... Professionals are calling Means incompetent, think about that. It would be brilliant almost if that was the plan... All are thinking one will bail on the other... Hmm.

I have not always thought this nor have been sure but right now I don't think Chad and Lori have bailed on each other whatsoever... The system is being played... And boy do we know that it can be played.

I pray all of the many victims see justice in this case. It may take longer than our lifetimes however and they already lost theirs due to this evil duo and others, imo.

Cynical day.

Means Could be educated enough in Criminal cases to be dangerous.

Could be. Here’s this guy is with one of the most infamous criminal cases of this decade so he must be doing something behind the scenes In order to ramp it up. I mean, look what Jose Biaz did? And it worked.

Very possible. He did go to law school. And I can't recall for sure but I think he has handled smaller criminal matters just not felony murder and such I believe. I mean the man does/must know the basics of law as to motions, subpoenaes etc. and I think all attys know how to slow things down or create issues. Even if something filed is a nuisance or not correct, it still has to be addressed or dismissed, etc...

And he may just know way more than we think or have more help than we think...

Documents unsealed, status conference scheduled for Lori Vallow Daybell

An order to unseal and a notice of hearing was filed on June 25. Now a status conference has been scheduled for July 1.

BREAKING: Lori Vallow is indicted by a grand jury in Maricopa County, charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the death of her former husband Charles Vallow. Here is the indictment filed in court, it says Lori Vallow agreed with her brother Alex Cox that at least one of them or another would engage in first degree murder.

“Complex, difficult cases of this nature take time to properly investigate and solve. I appreciate the tremendous number of hours the dedicated officers of the Chandler Police Department have invested, and my office is equally committed to bringing those responsible for Charles Vallow’s death to justice” stated County Attorney Allister Adel.

"This is finally shaping up to be the day we wanted a long time ago," said Larry Woodcock.

The date July 11, 2019, will always be engraved in Kay and Larry Woodcock's memory.

"Everybody loved Charles. He was a good guy," Kay said.

Kay lost her brother, Charles Vallow, to a fatal shooting in Chandler.

Alex Cox told police that his brother-in-law Charles became enraged and hit him in the head with a metal bat. The alleged fight resulted in Charles being shot twice in the chest.

As investigators arrived, Charles' then-wife Lori Vallow giggled and smiled even after what just happened

"She needs some serious help. I want her to get help. I'm worried about her," said Charles to Gilbert police months earlier.

Charles pleaded with police to help get Lori mentally evaluated on a psych hold. He then filed for divorce before changing his mind.

But court paperwork alleged that Lori believed she was a god and threatened to kill him. Charles, sounding the alarm before his death.
